Weave - worth it or not?
not worth it.

Agreed - far useful going for something else as the protection is negliable.

I have only played a fire tank to lvl12 so I dont have any experience at all.
I would get fiery embrace and build up to maximize damage.
Dont tank, scrap instead. Leave the tanking to stone tanks and trollers.
When playing in teams, take the first strike and dont try to taunt. After the first strike and people start to follow, then the aggro will usually spread out to all the team. Let defenders heal when needed and just maximize your damage or what your secondary allows you to do. If you are /fire, find good place to use your AoE's, If you are /nrg go for the boss (the stuns will get him), If you are /ice, use the iceslick and taunt to add control.
So basicly my ideas would be to focus more on the secondary pool.

Weave is probably not worth it for fire tanks, it is for most other tanks, as it stacks with any defence they get from their primary.
For example on Inv tanks in makes about a 25% improvement to sustainable damage. For Fire tanks it only changes it by around 10%.

who cares about the extra 7% defence (3 slotted) that weave offers? Its costs ,3 end/min.
Invu/'s tough hide gives more defence and thats a passive! IMO its a wasted power choice.

[/ QUOTE ]But that's just IYO, the facts are that for an Invuln and Ice tanks Weave(talkin about PvE)is a great choice, because it stacks with Tough Hide(almost 8% Def)and Invincibility(almost 24% Def with 10 foes in range)to give you an overall defense almost at ice tanker level..
I have it 6 slotted(3 Def Buff, 3 End Red)and it cost less endurance then Temp Invuln...
For a Fire tank may result in a poor choice, but for Ice and Invuln it's a good bonus to an already good defense and I can say from experience that after I respecd Weave in on my Invuln my survivability increased, A LOT!

Obviously Weave is worse than Tough Hide and probably should be picked and slotted after Tough Hide. However my point is that when you start picking these powers and stacking them your survivablity goes up massively. I even picked Combat Jumping for its Defence ( before Weave in the mid-late twenties IIRC ). Weave by itself is a waste of time, however the difference between 13 base defence and 20 is a significant one.
Against 5 enemies you would have about 33% defence with my build ( weave, combat Jumping, Invinicibility, Unyielding and Tough Hide ). If you don't have weave you have about 26%. Against even level minions this means you would take about a third less damage, which means you last a third longer.
In this situation it isn't that important as they are even level minions but imagine you are surrounded by 50 enemies ( 17 attacking you at a time nowadays ). You have 46% defence with Weave verses about 39%. Against even level minions it means that you get hit less than half as often with Weave which could mean the difference between Dull Pain recharging to bring you back to full hitpoints or just dying.

I think this is where we were all getting to..
(as I perceived another knee-jerk reaction to someone hinting that defenders only heal.. Thats not my opinion btw )
Weave=No No. 4%Def buff just isn't worth a whole power. And 6 Slots in it seems a little too much to take. However each to thier own.
Tough=Yes, post ED it's a MUST for fire tanks. Sorry did you miss that? A MUST!! Taaakkee ITTTTT!!
fiery aura is a resistant set with some offense to offer a kill before being killed element to it. Weave will do little to help it however with the scaleability of defense coming in i agree ice and invulns can benefit with fighting pools weave.

I respec'd out tough and weave on my fire ice tank, and noticed i was getting hit a lot more which sucks...
I'll probably respec it back in when i get one...
Anyone think this is a bad idea?
Get tough, weave is a bit rubbish for a Fire Tank. For any other tank it stacks with their armour, but Fire Tanks have no def and 7% defence 3 slotted really isn't much good. However 7% def when you already have 20% is okay and 7% when you have 30% is great.

Wicked, thanks bud!
With a Fire tanker I would get Weave at least for the immob protection, maybe not waste slot for def buff but only 2 slot it for end rdx since you get no Immobilization protection from your primary and the only one you can get is from Combat Jumping I would consider to keep it..
But!
There is a BUT..
IIRC you're fire/ice, so you're the only fire tank wich can keep on using Burn, that gives you Immob resistance, hence get Tough but drop Weave
(If you're not fire/ice then count as good the previous part )
I'm just respeccing my fire/axe tank which i haven't played since ED (grrr). I was just wondering if anyone has played a lot with Weave since ED and knows if its still worth having.
.
As conserve now has a recharge too long to be any use I'm taking pyre mastery and am a bit worried whether consume every 90 secs can handle the fairly heavy ensurance costs of the axe set and the fire epics (not taking burn anymore). So the extra endurance from dropping weave might be worth taking a bit more damage.
