my gripe playing with some defenders
[ QUOTE ]
I'll often shout warnings to teammates. Things like:-
"AB Boost coming your way so-and-so" when you notice someone burning endurance like a mad thing.
[/ QUOTE ]
you have to warn people they are getting adrenalin boost? omg is that bad!
why people do "ab boost 4 u so and so" or "have some of my delicious o2 boost" whatever really annoys me - its like "look at me everyone i am a defender doing my job i am giving people this and that" plus major spamming but for anything worth warning people about binds are useful.
In the early days when i may of run out of endurance due to so much panic healing i had :
"i have no end(no heals)"
or
"i am stunned (no heals)"
or if i got aggro "taunt my target pls"
thats what i'd consider warnings. lol i know what you really mean
He will honor his words; he will definitely carry out his actions. What he promises he will fulfill. He does not care about his bodily self, putting his life and death aside to come forward for another's troubled besiegement. He does not boast about his ability, or shamelessly extol his own virtues. - Sima Qian.
I like the little messages that people attach to some powers. Part of the fun of the genre is heroic banter and conversation/wordplay.
I guess it all comes down to preferance of style of play.
I like to take my time, interact with the team not fly through missions in a "rack up as much xp as possible before midnight" style game (though I do those too )

Are you suggesting CM should be used as a buff? I only ever use it as a cure, it runs out far too quick to keep it on 7 people ..
i actually use it as a buff but only when it comes off and to certain ATs mostly not the whole team. If i get time the scrapper or tank may get it but not normally unless they need it. Offering it to the controller, blaster and defender as a buff is often very easy.

yeah it should be used as a buff. Remember that an empath that has fully switched to buffing from healing must be proactive. That means AB,fort and the rest of the buffs should be dropped before the fights. Also cm is not necessary to all team members. Only the ones with no status protection. Then again in PvP zones is a different story. But 3 slots with rchrg in PvP zone works miracles.

cm is a very fast recharge any way.
ofering to all team as a buff is only a problem as far as gettin team to stay still for a couple of minutes.
in general i just do the best i can , i'm new to the defender AT and always open to suggestions.
Having played a few defenders main and alts I fully agree with what Shannon stated. One of the biggest problems is get two defenders on a team, one of them suddenly turns into a fighter instead of healer. Malta, Carnie, DE etc please take note other defenders.
I am not saying defenders should not fight, I am saying use some common sense please. If it is stun/hold mission or just that you can see team taking lots of instant damage from boss or av go back to defending. The cry of I just killed one, when fighting to keep team alive and cm doe's not impress me at all. Not loosing any of the team in a heated battle, well played m8y!
It help's def greatly if the team leader gives us time to buff all team, not just leader with the buffs before he runs off into battle. Better to fight with a buffed team especially with sk's who need all the help they can get.
heh on my kinetic, im always watching health bars and endurance if someone ends a fight with low endurance i consider myself doing a bad job, thats my mentality when it comes to big teams i always have the buffs bar open and i have to have the whole team perma buffed, if someone goes "sb plz" i consider myself doing a bad job, as its my job to keep them perma buffed with speed boost or increase density.
Thats how i've played and always will with my defender, and it makes it more fun for me i always have something to do but yeah i hate beeing on teams with other defenders and everyone else has ID and protected from status and im not, so when im stunned my effectiveness is lowered, don't like that at all. Always carry bfs is all i can say, when teaming my inspirations is fully of bfs and awakens

Playing my tanker or scrapper i often forget to allow time for buffs at times as i6 hasnt really sunk in yet (slaps wrists cos has a 50 defender). I especially need to do this before an AV because to some AV's all it sees is healthpoints and its a case of my dullpain/respites and the healer. I need to make sure there is time for buffing by acting when defender says "ready!". To those AV's they are not so much testing the tanker's build they are testing the healer too and the healer hasnt really got time to buff due to all the healing required so needs to buff first.
In cases of lvl 52 babbage and tanker not quite out of range of the alpha (i have found to be usually after 3rd attack) totally tanks fault (unless a scrapper taunts in melee) That alpha looks like it can drop the whole lifebar of any tank. pls empaths dont feel guilty!

People typing "zzzzz" doesn't really bother me at all, sometimes it's good to have your attention grabbed, although I agree that as a good empath, most times you are more aware of their status than they are themselves.
I've got nothing but good things to say about TeamSpeak, but then we don't use a (strictly) public server so the people on their are pretty much always a tried and trusted set of what I like to think of as close friends.
In CM situations when someone is held I'll often just hear the word "Held", I'll recognise the voice and I'll respond. It'll either be a "Working on it" or a "I know, bear with me I'm busy healing so-and-so"
Wither way the vocal communication makes life so much easier. Often it works the other way around too. I'll often shout warnings to teammates. Things like:-
"AB Boost coming your way so-and-so" when you notice someone burning endurance like a mad thing.
"Get back in range, can't heal you" when someone wanders too far.
or the sometimes used "Healer down, be careful!" when I get faceplanted. lol
I find it cuts a huge amount of time off everyones reactions and means you can operate very very efficiently as a team. I really notice the difference in pick up teams or if we bring someone onto the team who doesn't have TS. Often in the latter cases we encourage people to at least listen in so they know whats going on.
But as I said I'm lucky to play with a good group on a server that's pretty dedicated to us.
