Noticed the same on Union - actually had a team of 5 SG members running through several missions yesterday after a looooooooong time of no SG members being about (all on CoV). 7 high level missions one afer the other and no faceplants. It's good to have the guys back.
I'm switching back and forth between my Brute and Ice/EM Tanker. The Tanker doesn't get much playtime, though... not because she faceplants a lot because of Ice Armor (on the contrary, really! [But that might be because she's still low level?]), but because it's the same old content I've trawled through with the Private, Paragon Popidol (and several other alts)... there's only Striga and Croatoa to look forward to, and they're both some way off.
There are quite a few new players been on recently, myself included. Only had the game a few weeks and seem to be teaming up with fellow newcomers quite a bit.
Yup, I've noticed an influx of new players at the low levels as well... 
It's all good... can only get better

I've been popping on as my heroes a bit...but as Ringko said, CoV has new content so it's much more fun.

Im still on heroes more than villians at mo. Trying to get some prestige for SG since the rest of my SG for the time being have defected to being villianous. So untill they return it be a long hard grind of prestige farming (unless the base item prices come down a good bit)
