I'd pick Ice primary, Ice Slick allows you plenty of safe blapping and blapping also meshes well with Glacier, since it's a PBAoE Hold.
Fire should work pretty well as well, Hot Feet for extra PBAoE damage, Cinders is PBAoE Hold and Smoke for extra safety (Tho I'm not sure how good the -ACC is).
Mind has lots of control, AoE sleep works well with single target blapping and last a good while.
Gravity again lots of control, especially when you get the pet, but nothing that looks to work better for blapping than ranged damage.
Plant, Spirit Tree might make this a good candidate now that the regen gets boosted (or maybe it already has been).

Ice all the way! Ice Slick and Arctic Air make a wonderful blapping combo that you can get early on as long as you can sort out the endurance problems. With 2 or 3 DO endreds in it AA isn't that bad.
I do envy the the sets with mass confuses a bit, though.
I carry 3 in AA and yeah it works fine with 3 and 3 slotted stamina.

i say plant still now that spirit tree rocks, you can fight a bit like a regain Scrapper..

I've made a mind/energy for blapping.
Mind Control has an AOE sleep, AOE hold, Cone Fear and AOE confuse. Lay those down and you can blast away all day. You also get 3 single target controls.
It also has the coolest control power in the game - telekenesis which is basically a toggle AOE hold, although you need a corner to push enemies into otherwise you'll be running all over the place

Not always. much fun can be had pushing enemies off tall buildings, cliffs or, (in one strike force at least) into a pit of lava. Domination+Powerboost+Telekenesis=silly.
Plus it is a great PvP power (if your inclinations run that way).
Mind or Ice would both be great, Plant may be but haven't played it high enough.
