Base Cost

I'm suprised by the amount of posts claiming how expensive it is to build a base.

CoV has been out for what? 2 weeks? and people seem to want to be able to convert/earn enough prestige in that time to get a working base.

from lvl 10 (when I started the SG) to lvl 30 that I am now, I've earned over 100k Prestige, in a weeks worth of play.

Now even a small group of people, say 5, all start new chars by the time they get to 30 is 500k which is enough for an energy room (150k), Control room (100k), Workroom (100k) and Workbench (25k). So another 300-odd k and you've got a generator and mainframe in which to have a fully working workbench.

For an SG containing more than 5 people you will obviously earn things faster, but that's an advantage of a big SG. Personlly I'd think things would be a little unfair if a smaller SG could compete with a larger one.

It's a bit like Single Origin Enhances, it takes time to be able to afford them.

My main point is bases will come with time, why is everyone in such a rush to have one straight away? Surely it's better to have earned it, like you earn other things in the game (levels, powers, SOs, epics)

My thoughts as well really. Sure, it'd be *nice* to have a full base within a couple of weeks, but you just have to be patient really. It's not the end of the world to not have a base yet.

Aye.. my SG here is currently holding off on a base for now, so as to raise the amount we need to create/maintain and afford a base useful enough, rather than making one and finding we can't afford to maintain it.

If anything was to be built it wud be to help the lowbies move about better (ie TP room) or at most somewhere to meet up safely.

I think it comes down to the fact its like seeing a guy/girl having the best new toy around.. everyone wants it "yesterday", instead of waiting for costs to come down.

Depends on your definition of "working" I guess.

I agree though. Anyone who thinks they should have access to teleporters, medical facilities, gun turrets and the like so quickly without the backing of a large SG is really expecting too much.

Our SG earned 90k today... it got spent in minutes...

But then from 30-50 those same 5 people will earn nothing, as they need the influence so that they can buy enhancements. And 30-50 is a whole lot longer than 10-30. This problem is alot more potent with VGs too, there's no high-earning alts.

Then you choose what you want. Nice Enhancements, or prestige for your base.

We can't all have everything at the same time.

meh i found out that at the lower part of the 30-50 drag you most of times get to bout 0 inf after spending money on enhances, however the higher you get the more "spare" inf you got and thus you CAN spend some time earning prestige for your SG. Also seeing higher lvls most of times have less trouble fighting higher lvl mobs, the prestige income will be bout the same, maybe slightly lower but certainly not 0, compared to full-on SG mode at the lowest lvls.

PS, yes i dont have numbers to prove that, since i dont have a guy from 1 to 50 within the release period of CoV/I6

What I've done is spent levels 43-44 not in SG mode, to earn enough to get my lvl 50 SO's so that when I hit lvl 47 I could afford them all (only just, 300k left!) and since then I've been back in SG mode apart from once when I earned 2 million inf in one evening. I've been in SG mode all the time and currently have 140k prestige for the SG. Hopefully this will get a decent boost in todays patch too. At high levels spending a couple of evenings out of SG mode can easily boost your wealth considerably without affecting your SG's prestige too much.
