Hi all, I really want to make a stalker and have narrowed it down to 3 power set possibilities, can you give me some advice as to which to choose please?

Options are:

Claws/Regen
Claws/Ninjitsu
Sword/Ninjitsu

Any thoughts? Cheers, V.

ninja sword/ninjitsu is very effective. asylem is one, and can solo his missions. unfortunatly i didnt finish the last mission i tried coz of the servers going down at 2, anyone know when they come back?

edit: whoops, didnt see the announcement about the new patch for CoV, see everyone ingame in 2 hours i guess..

Regen plays more like a scrapper, I've found that I was suprised how effectively I could scrap 2-3 minions, however I got completely messed up the first time I came up against the gear produced by clockwork prince. Regen is quite endurance light, as you run only one toggle (Integration) as opposed to the 2 or 3 of the other sets.

Ninjitsu seems to be about shedding aggro in various ways, I suspect it would be the most fun when the high level powers are available.

In theory a defence set ( anything other than Regen ) should be more capable of using AS in the thick of combat when multiple enemies are aggroed to you.

im confused im sword/reflxes.. lv 12 and i suck.. well except for assasin strike woot thats good. but all of my other moves such as sting of wasp ect realy do hardly any dmg at all..

im real realy weak i have lv 15 dmg and accuracy in all and defence buff. but i take lots of dmg and hardly dodge i just got agile..

i just cant work out why i hardly do any dmg?

There are a few of us claws/ninja ou there and for my money it plays really nicely.

The reason I chose claws was purely aesthetic but I found it to be a pretty good build. Assasin Strike + buildup = 1 hit boss death.

Just remember with all stalkers that they are lot squishier than a scrapper and you'll be fine

yeah, I saw that regen doesn't have placate. I still cant decide between the above sets tho

I picked ninjutsu, though I had regen in beta.

I think ninjutsu offers more to the Stalker at higher levels. You are relying on DEF, which isn't necessarily a good thing, but the AoE Placate and Cone Blind are pretty cool.

Regen has taken a bit of a bashing recently and the removal of QR makes it even less attractive.

hmm, still torn. ok, clincher. Ravenswing. In your opinion which was more "fun" ninjitsu or regen?

Placate is in the primary, so regen doesn't have it, claws etc does. Ninjitsu does have some nice looking aggro dodging powers, one of which is an AoE placate available at lvl 28. I suspect it has a very long recharge though. It is the only stalker secondary to have this.

In terms of primaries, Assassin's Strike, placate and build up are all the same in each set so I would go by the other attacks or the look/feel. For instance Claws gets Focus and Ninja Blade gets Divine Avalanche.

Haven't been playing Ninjutsu long enough to say if it's 'fun'. My main in CoH is a regen scrapper. They were certainly fun, having great recovery and almost no downtime.

I'd go with Ninjutsu since it has some neat combinations of regen and SR (it has a self-heal anyway), and seems to offer far more to a Stalker in the way of being Stalker-ish. Hence, it's likely to be more 'fun'.

I'm inclined to agree with Birdy. While I think ninjutsu doesn't completely come into its own till later, it just has the feel of a themes set. Some sets just feel like "oh, we'll throw something in here because it needs x power." Ninjutsu feels like the set was designed around the concept.

If by Birdy you mean Ravenswing then yes, it does look that way and works very well with what little I know about Ninja.

He does, my main is War Crow and one of Zortel's characters took to calling him Birdy. It's kid of stuck... Better than being called Daffodil.

I have a level 50 claws scrapper on coh. To be honest its not the most damaging build compared to the others. I used to slot all my claws for six slot damage and use follow up for all my accuracy. This has been totally messed up with ED now. I wouldnt pick claws again with ED live.

I would go with something more damaging on cov. Energy melee is the most damaging by a mile off.

Plus theres so many wanna be Katana/Ninjitsu stalkers who have the whole assasin samurai thing going on (seriously loads!!) its nice to be original and different rather than follow the crowd (bahhhh sheepies)

the claws look really cool, who cares if you get 0.56% less dps than a 6 slotted blah blah blah blah. Numbers really bore me. Play whichever you think is the most fun.

I'm Spines/Regen because someone persuaded me that making an Evil version of Unthing would be a good idea. I honestly thought it would be the worst of the Stalker power choices, especially as I hate the Spine burst power. It is fun though.

Amen, I totaly agree!

I play Claws + Reflexes. It's good because the enemies have a hard time to hit you and makes a lot more possible to do the assassin strike when you are hidden but attacked. (strange, but it happens all the time)

I like regen too but the animations and colours are very unevil so it had to go. And as I already have one hero with that power earlier I wanted to try something else.
