Loading screen "freezing" when loading into RV!
How about starting with the common solutions sticky and then posting your system details ala Hijackthis and cohhelper as suggested?
I remember this....it used to happen to me quite often on my old machine.
Try logging in safe mode and see what that does.
Can't come up with a name? Click the link!
Alright I tried safemode and it made no difference for me. Here is the hijack this info, I am having trouble downloading COH HELPER (not city of data ) atm, hopefully I'll have it up soon.

CoH Helper output would be more helpful than anything City of Data could provide I believe.
That said, update Vista to SP2 through Windows Updates. If SP2 isn't showing, you'll need to install the updates that are there and keep going back until SP2 is shown.
Also, you've got a whooooole lot of unneeded programs running at startup. Look at all of those 04 entries. Most are not needed to run at startup, only when called.
One last thing, download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, install it, update it, and run a scan, remove anything it finds. You have at least one piece of malware easily visible (Antivirus 2008 PRO).
If you are running WindowBlinds or a similar skinning program, set it so that it doesn't affect CoH.
If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

The Intel 945G is supported but your video driver is very old. Unfortunately, it's unlikely that HP/Compaq has an updated video driver for it. I'd recommend checking to be sure and if a newer driver is available, install it. While you are there, check for an updated audio driver as well.
Turn down your Physics quality. It should only be set to Very High with the Ageia PhysX card installed, and the laptop doesn't have it. I'd actually set it to the lowest setting to start and see if that improves your RV loading, and if it does work your way slowly upward. At the same time, I'd lower the World Detail to Low or Medium and drop the Maximum Particles to 25050.
And of course, the stuff in my previous post.
If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.
Black Pebble is my new hero.

If I may note, I know very little about computers.
1. I meant to say COH Helper, edited to fix mistake in last post.
2. I do not know how to close those background programs, because I know nothing about computers.
3. I am currently running Avast anti virus and do weekly scans.
4. I have no idea what WindowBlinds is, or if I have it.
And if I may note, this ONLY happens when I zone into RV. I have gone to every zone in the game and this is the only one with problems.
1. No harm, no foul. We all had to start somewhere.
2. I'll see if I can summon houtex or one of the other gurus for assistance with closing out all those startup programs. My brain is getting fuzzy enough that I don't trust myself for giving those instructions right now.
3. Ok. Avast is an anti-virus. It isn't a spyware blocker or remover.
Malwarebytes Anti-Malware is designed specifically to get rid of spyware, and the one I listed is a very nasty one with several variations that all look and act similarly. Malwarebytes will remove it. No need to buy the program, the free version will work for what you need.
4. I'll let one of the other gurus see if they spot it in your HijackThis log. I'm not sure what all the variations are that some OEM's such as Compaq call it. Heck, right now I can't even remember what Dell calls it, and I just removed it from my new computer a bit over a month ago.
If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.
Black Pebble is my new hero.
I feel like an idiot coming here...I know 80 percent of the words you use
I will be sure to DL the free version of the program you suggested.
Hopefully when I close those programs I will stop getting extreme lag in invasions and Rikti raids? My computer was brand new a year ago I don't see how I'm lagging so much during those events >.>
Well, while it is supported, that video card is not one of the best for gaming. It is one of the few Intel Graphics cards that IS listed as being supported.
But that's kinda like saying that the game will run on 512 Mb of RAM. It will run, technically, but it won't be very enjoyable.
Considering the video card you have, you want as little running as possible while gaming.
If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.
Black Pebble is my new hero.
So I hear. I was under the impression that I had an nvidia videocard. Any clue how much it would cost to upgrade?
Hopefully if somone could be so kind to inform me on how to close these programs that I cannot see it could relieve me of some lag.
Any clue as to why I would only freeze up when going into RV?
It "looks" like you hae a Compaq SR5350F desktop computer. That computer has an empty PCI-e x16 slot, but I can't find any information on the power supply.
Without knowing what the power supply is, it's difficult to know what it will handle.
You may be able to find out what size and type of power supply you have, and possibly what video cards your computer will handle, by calling Compaq/HP Technical Support.
I'm not certain, but I think there was an issue with RV being more graphically intensive than most other zones, but I can't remember. It may have been Grandville I'm thinking of. Right now I just can't remember for sure.
If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.
Black Pebble is my new hero.
I believe that is grandville based on the fact that in RV I have no unusual lag but in GV I have twice the lag I normally have, I believe it has something to do with all those webs and underground tunnels.
Well, if you really think its GV related, which I'm not sure of since when zoning IN your loading the RV map, you could try /unloadgfx right before you hit the RV portal.
Yeah, Grandville was the one I was thinking of, just couldn't get my brain to function fully that late at night.
Using the /unloadgfx right before zoning into RV may be of some help.

Oh, well, first off... Got a few malware/trojan/keylogger/scareware/etc bad things (tm) in there...

Definitely need AntiMalware as stated before, download, update, and FULL SCAN. Do whatever the nice program says to do after.
And... not to be too paranoid... I might be changing passwords **AFTER** I got rid of these things on all bank, credit card, game, facebook, email...etc... whatever you type in accounts and passwords on this computer with.

Now then:
Using MSConfig (Start, Run, MSConfig) You can hit the Startup and Service tabs to find and uncheck different programs to see if they help your situation, and if so, and they don't interfere with other normal operations of the computer, you can leave them off.
I'd probably be taking these out:

But I don't know if it's legit or not. Supposed to be a windows dll... I'm not saying it's right, but I ain't sayin' it's wrong... it's just weird, I think.
Also for conversational purposes... Sonic, do you have remnants of Symantec Norton AntiVirus or is it that you have Winfax or some other Symantec Product? If not, you might want to also uninstall Live Update and/or any Symantec listed in the Add/Remove programs list, as it's cluttering up things too. I left them out of the MSConfig list because I don't know if they're legitimate for your needs.
And finally... Do you have both an Epson and an HP printer? If so, fine, no further action. If, however, one of them is no longer in the mix, you need to uninstall those as well from the Add/Remove programs list.
Sorry, Programs and Features list. That is so... STUPID... of Microsoft.

I never posted back on this, but I just did the malware full scan, MSconfugratoin thing and got alot of programs NOT running. I am running with everything on High (world, character, particles), have particle bar all the way up, character bar all the way up, and world bar almost all the way up...and NO LAG! I can't wait to do rikti raids without this lag...hopefully I will be able to load into RV!
Thanks abunch to everyone who helped, and I suggest EVERYONE do this if you have any lag issues, it has made this game look like new again!
Thanks again everyone
While using my main computer, anytime I zone into RV, the loading bar stops about 1/4 through and sits. If I dont click anything, it will take 2 minutes to load in vs my usualy 10 second loading times. It does not matter if its from Grandville, Atlas Park, or from the supergroup base.
When i try to click on the screen, it goes white and then I get a popup that says "City of Heroes is not responding:" You can then choose to wait for city of heroes to respond or to exit program. So I click "wait for CoH to respond" and it takes 2 minutes. While this is not a huge setback, it does seem odd that it does this to me.
While asking one day in RV, I got one other response that it happened to someone else, but before I could ask him his operating system, he logged.
This only happens on my main gaming computer, which is running Windows Vista. My older computer has Windows XP and has no such problem loading into RV. Any suggestions on what is causing this?
