Veteran noob

I am a veteran since launch. I have taken breaks and my last break was the longest, almost 2 years off. There has been so many changes and I feel like a noob all over again....but I kinda like it. I have some questions....what exactly is a splattroller? Thats a new one for me...

Are the TA and Archery sets any good? I have been trying to do some catching up and reading on this set but still a bit uncertain. Even though it appears that lethaol attacks are resisted a lot, are the attacks still considered in using?

Also, what are the best villains? I love running in teams. I have tickered with MM's and I loved it but I thought since they are so much fun that therer would be a lot of MM's around. Are MM's good for teams b/c I don't like to solo much. Any good advice on Ninjas? I played a necro MM a while and liked but I love ninjas.

I can tell you that some MMs are excellent in teams. I happen to play a Bots/FF who is an excellent team supporter. The addition of Pain Domination also grants MMs a very powerful heal-oriented set. However, sets like Traps and Storm Summoning are more of a mixed bag that are more offensive-based. Overall, MMs are generaly good for team support due to the fact that they can focus on the task fully while uncontiously adding a massive amount of firepower.

I think the reason most people don't play MMs is because it is more of a spectator sport. You don't actively participate in battle very much, despite the fact that you are indeed contributing damage.

The off-beat space pirate...Capt. Stormrider (50+3 Elec/Storm Science Corruptor)
The mysterious Djinn...Emerald Dervish (50+1 DB/DA Magic Stalker)
The psychotic inventor...Dollmaster (50 Bot/FF Tech Mastermind)

Most will argue that TA and Archery are under powered, but I think both sets are fun to play. TA offers a lot of debuffs and slows and archery has no secondary debuff like most of the blasts do, but I believe its base accuracy is greater than other blasts.

Don't roll a TA/A Defender expecting to be a powerhouse, but definitely enjoy the uniqueness of the set and what it brings to a team.

Just don't try Ninja/TA on a large team. You'll be resummoning a lot unless you have a Brute that actually uses Taunt to help out.

I think MM/TA is the weakest combo but it's just me. I've seen Robot/TA and Thug/TA that can deal decent damage with Oil Slick Arrow but that's about it. The debuffs are pretty average at best. There are better sets for debuffs.

Archery is quite fun if you are Blaster. Build Up + Aim + Rain of Arrow + Explosion is great.

What's left is to normalize all Assassin Strikes and improve Stalker's old sets (Claw, MA and EM)! You don't need to bring back the missing PbAoE attack. You just need to make the existing ones better! For example, make Slice a WIDER and LONGER cone.

Which is why I would love to see Archery and Trick Arrow ported to Corruptors.

YEah it's not Build Up+Aim but I think it will be tons of fun and won't have the damage issue that TA/A does.

I team a bit with a MM/TA, I'd disagree that it doesn't contribute much damage. Between TA resistance debuffs and one -res proc in each pet, they do quite a crap-ton of damage.

Splattroller is a term that I believe Enantiodromos coined - essentially a high-damage and AoE controller. It may be covered in This post: http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showf...Number=5642571

I'd say Archery is actually quite good, despite damage resistance at higher levels. Trick Arrow is a super utility-belt full of mean tricks. It's particularly useful for my Illusion Controller, since it has Holds that set up Containment.
Only thing you won't get is a 'Healing Arrow'. See Luminara's excellent guides for more info.

Love MMs and I enjoy Corruptors too. Brutes are okay, but I really hate being a slave to the Rage. YMMV with villains.

Hope this helps.

Be Well!

I'd love A/TA to be ported to corrputors.. Archery/Dark for tar patch+aim+RoA, or even Archery/Rad... that'd be pretty fun too.

TA/A Defender may not be a powerhouse early on, but it can be pretty nasty later on. Aim+EMP+Oil Slick+Disruption+Flame Arrow can wipe out huge spawns of all their minions, and the lieutenants will be in really bad shape (and held as well).

Ask and you shall receive! Archery and Trick Arrow are coming to Corruptors in Issue 16!

Yup, and I'm very happy about it.
