My adventure in to DA has my feeling lost

one thing, someone said something about slotting accuracy in dark regen, dont bother, before i got my IOs in it, i had it slotted with 3end redux and 3 recharge. It doesnt need accuracy, you hit 2 targets and you are full.
[/ QUOTE ]
And what happens when you are down to tanking a solo AV? Personally, I prefer to slot for accuracy & heal, along with recharge and end reduction.
[/ QUOTE ]
Agreed. I learned my lesson early on with Nerva Spectral Demons--there are times when is really not good for DR to miss. I usually slot more Acc in DR rather than less, for those occasions when having it hit is the difference between survival and face-planting.
[/ QUOTE ]
Just checked. With my current slotting I am running 60% accuracy, 55% endurance reduction, 80% heal and 60% recharge, along with the Theft of Essence +end proc.

Tear it up as you will, slots were randomly placed not following level order necessarily.
Please offer suggestions as to what to put in the empty places.
Thanks

Most of the time I get asked when i join a group how I like DA, and when I say its awesome, and is tough as hell, they kinda laugh. So far I am pretty sure I have put a pretty good dent in the misconception of DA being squishie.
[/ QUOTE ]
And it's the magic of IO sets. You can turn alot of things into true tanking machines. And DA has a good potential there : solid resists, a great heal... it just needed defense and the IOs can bring you that.
Your only nemesis will be a big pack of Romans, Longbows or Rad type mobs who gonna debuff your defense... and even then, if you have team support, a few inspis... you should be fine.
Then someone gonna try to level a DA following your "it's awesome, and tough as hell" and gonna repeatedly get his butt handed to him with a SO slotting
[ QUOTE ]
However, IO set socketing for defense will do several great things for you. It will give you much needed defense which will drastically increase your survivability.
[/ QUOTE ]
It's sad though.. most the answers are the use of IO's, an aspect of the game that is not intended on being needed.
I think for standards playing you need to learn to let your health bar go a bit lower than you may be comfortable with since it will mostly completley heal you.
If you find you are going red faster than your recharge on dark heal pick up hasten, use it for those groups... and slot dark heal for max end reduction.
Yeah, I've been hit up by a group of people on Justice who have asked me how I like DA. When I tell them I love it and why. They run to make one and a few days later, I get a tell saying how much it sucks.
@Posterchild
Depending on the amount of single target attacks you have left, continue to slot Kinetic Combat up to the rule of 5. Also, resocket your armor toggles for 4 slot Reactive Armors.
Refer to the guide in my sig for more detail.
Your power order leaves much to be desired, IMO. I waited until after Stamina to pick up DS, but I certainly would not wait until 38 to get it, or delay the last three Mace attacks!
Tough and Weave can wait until later in your build. I"d take DS at 24 and the other attacks when they're available, and fit in the Fighting pool whenever you can. Soul Transfer can definitely wait until the very end--I didn't take it at all.
As Jebe and I have been saying, use Reactive Armor for your resist shields, Kinetic Combat for your ST attacks, and I'd strongly suggest Eradication for your PBAoEs. (They give +end as well as energy defense!) You should also consider 2 or 3 slotting SJ with BotZ and putting Mocking Beratement or Perfect Zinger in Taunt. Op Gloom is waay overslotted, I rarely have more than two slots in it, total.

as far as only being good with IOs, I worked my way into them and was fully slotted with SOs at one point, my end use was hellish, but I was still pretty tough. If you had read all of what I posted, I still havent finished all my IO sets, specifically the Kinetic Combat sets. That said, my survivability is excellent.
Soloing an AV for slotting acc into DR is not the best of examples. By the time you really get into that, it is not unrealistic to have switched from SOs to IOs. Slotting SO heals into DR is wasteful, the heal is big enough to do without it and end reduction is more important, switching a couple of recharges for acc later on isnt a big deal. 55% end reduction is not nearly enough for DR, especially paired with WM. In a decent group I barely need to use DR, but when I do, end is usually short as well. Nothing like popping DR, then having your togs drop and getting mauled.
and yeah, they are both right, reactive armor in your shields is key, and kinetic combat in your ST attacks. with just the reactive armors I noticed a pretty good difference, and they are pretty cheap. still trying to get those KCs tho, much harder to come by
Dark Armor is like that kid you knew in school that didn't know when to shut up, and no matter how bad he got beaten down, he got right back up again and kept on talking.

As long as I keep making DA tanks and continue to outbid you, you will never see these IO's, muahahahaha!

Personally, I haven't found Dark Armor a difficult thing to manage. You just need to frankenslot for some endurance recovery. War Mace offers you a good solution with the Stupefy Set. It has an Acc/End and Acc/Rec that you can easily slip into four of your attacks (Bash, Pulverize, Clobber, and Whirling Mace) and you can even get another 2.5% recovery by using 2 slots of Impervium Armor in one of your Armors. That's also a good catalyst to get close capping out your Psi Resistance, if that suits you. It's a difficult ride until stamina-like most other tanks, but after that you won't have many problems if you slot correctly. This is just my perception of Dark Armor (after getting both a tank and scrapper to 50 pre MA and without farming), so YMMV.

my 50 dark/dark was an end hog as well...as talon said dark regen is huge on end.
frankly my feeling on dark either way is meh at best ..i wanted elec armor when we got dark but i went for it anyways and wanted to like it but just felt blah about it. your feeling honestly most likely wont change.
i havent played my dark/dark since it hit 50..by 40 i had lost interest..my least favorite honestly
[/ QUOTE ]If you have end problems with Dark Melee, you either skipped Dark Consumption, or you're full of crap.
