Wrong game version error?

I just downloaded and applied the latest test server patch with the intent of logging in with a friend to check out some of the science pack stuff. While I was doing so, he informed me that he was getting the error "Wrong game version" after logging in and selecting the test server from the list. After I had applied the patch, I had no problems at all logging in, getting to the character selection screen and into the game. However, once I exited out and to the desktop and then tried to reconnect, I watched a pigg file (didn't think to write down the name) be "repaired" (why would a newly patched installation need to be repaired?), and the T at the end of my game version disappear... then, I got to the login screen, logged in, got to the server screen and ... wow, guess what? "Wrong game version"!

The game version after I updated with the latest 87.7 mb patch was 19.20090702.4T Once the pigg file mentioned above had been "fixed" the game version changed to 19.20090702.4 - no "T" on the end.

Anyone else having this problem? Deleting the checksum file does NOT help. Verifying files does not help.

Any ideas? My OS is Vista Ultimate 64bit... my friend's OS is Vista Ultimate 64bit. And, please, no MS or Vista bashing ... looking for HELP. Thanks.

I got the same error just now. I use Windows XP, so it's not limited to Vista.

Chained Bulldog level 33 Stalker on Liberty
Cobalt Blue Knight level 32 Scrapper on Guardian
Drone Keeper level 32 MM on Champion
Glacier Force level 28 Tanker on Justice
and 7 nearly full servers of alts waiting their turns.

I just got the same error, and I was on the Test server earlier. I haven't seen the 19.20090702.4T version on the Updater screen since I seldom pay attention to the numbers there unless there is a problem. I currently have the 19.20090702.4 version. The error I get is that the server is running the 19.20090702.4T version and the client is the 19.20090702.4 version.

Sending a PM to GhostFalcon.

EDIT: Also, the .4 version with no T is the one Niv posted about that has no patch notes. No sign of a comment on a .4T version.

Additional Edit: Also sent same PM to Nivienne, Castle and BackAlleyBrawler. Hopefully, one of the 4 of them will be online to catch it and be able to notifiy the proper people.

If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

Thanks, guys - at least it's not just me and my friend. Kinda sucks that it's a Saturday afternoon and will likely not get fixed until Monday, but, it's Test, I guess... what can ya do?

Thanks for PMing the devs, Texas_Justice.

I also noticed that Niv did not post the game version with the T on the end... I'm trying to remember if the T is always at the end of the game version number on Test, because she's not included a T on announcements involving the .2 or .3 versions either, so that may just be a habit?

Hopefully it'll get looked at and fixed soon.

I know the current Live version ends in a T52, so the T isn't solely for the Test server.

I've got the same problem.

I've gotten no Read Receipts saying that any of the 4 have opened my PM's, which isn't surprising seeing it's the weekend.

I don't think CS will generally do anything with support tickets for the Test server, so I'm not going to bother there either. Hopefully one of the Devs will log in to check something at home, realize there is a problem, and get it resolved.

I'm getting a download right now when I try to connect to the Test server that I didn't get earlier. Perhaps they've been patching Test.

I'll edit this when it finishes to give the version number.

EDIT: I now have the .4T version and am able to log in fully. Looks like the server got patched and they forgot to push the patch to the clients. Or something similar.

Yup, me too ... I was thinking someone maybe made a typo somewhere and then logged in quick to fix it. Whatever happened, it appears to be fixed, as I was also able to exit the game, then restart and log back in without any further "fixes" or problems. Yay - thank you to the Devs/programmers/community managers!!

Quick side question, is the Science Booster pack still available on Test? I looked at the store and it only has characters slots and more AE slots. I transferred a new Science Origin over and still just the extra slots. Am I looking in the wrong place?

....just wondering

You most likely got the small patch before you got logged on today. You can check the timestamps on my posts and TerminusEst's posts to see how that corresponds to when you got on. Sometime between when TerminusEst posted that he was getting the error and my 2nd post after his was apparently when they put up the patch to be downloaded.
