Orange inspirations give you resistance, which reduces the amount of damage you take when you get hit, but won't prevent any secondary effects (mezz, tohit debuff, etc)
Purple give you defense, which helps you avoid getting hit altogether, and thus avoid secondary effects.
For the most part, purples will be better until you hit the soft cap of +45% defense.

Purple inspirations give you Defense (you get hit less).
Orange inspirations give you Resistance (each hit hurts less).
Unless you're already at the soft cap of Defense though (45%), eating a purple is almost universally better. The percentages on the purple inspirations are better than the orange ones, and Defense means that you can also avoid secondary effects from attacks.

Hey all,
What are the differences between orange and purple inspirations? And also what situations are better for one or the other? I thought I read somewhere else, they are almost the same thing. But I could have just not read it right.
