Hi, build looks good to me!
I'm looking to make a general purpose controller, for solo, missions in team, AEing... Even a bit of PvP if possible. The Illusion part seems very allround for me and should help the solo part, but Kinetics looks very inferior to e.g. /rad when it comes to playing solo, and for PvP as well.
Any Ill/Kin controllers out there who can share their experiences with playing solo or PvP? Perhaps anyone could recommend a different controller build that would suit me better? I like many parts of the Ill part, and I've always wanted a /kin, but maybe I'm better off making one Ill/Rad (for example) and one devoted /kin?
Thank you!
For the most part the posted build is ok. It's got one glaring problem - it can't do any damage. Part of Illusion controls ability to control an environment is that Spectral Wounds kills thing quickly. Leaving it out of a build makes you less useful on teams, and almost completely incapable of soloing.
If you were to switch out Superior Invisibility for Spectral Wounds, and take it earlier, and Switch out Flash for Air Superiority, again taking it earlier, you would have something close to how my Ill/Kin is built. I also went with the Stone AP because Fissure + Hasten + Siphon Speed + Fulcrum Shift = perma-stunned dead mobs. Add in Seismic Smash and you you've got a single target attack that will one-shot contained minions.
If you really want to solo, and to help speed things along on smaller teams, you will need some damage potential other than PA. PA wounds things, it's up to you to kill them before they heal back the illusory damage.

Everything you could want to know about an Ill/Rad is in my freshly posted guide, linked in my sig. There is a ton of general information on Illusion, too, plus strategies.
Ill/Kin is good because both Illusion and Kinetics are such good sets, but they have some significant synergy problems. Phantom Army, the most inportant power in the Illusion set, cannot be buffed. Thus, you need Resistance Debuffs to help them do more damage, and Defense Debuffs to help them hit more often. Kinetics doesn't have either. What Kinetics does have is Recharge to help PA come back faster . . . but you need a foe to siphon off of.
Illusion doesn't have an AoE damage power, so Fulcrum Shift loses a lot of its shine. More importantly, Phantasm does a lot of knockback, often knocking back foes that you are using as your target for siphon powers like Transfusion, Transference, Siphon Speed, Siphon Power and Funcrum Shift. This causes a lot of Ill/Kins to not use Phantasm -- a major source of damage.
Ill/Rad is popular for many reasons. Radiation is the only set with Defense Debuff, Resistance Debuff and a Recharge buff. I would rank Ill/Storm and Ill/TA, and maybe Ill/Therm, all above Ill/Kin. (I've played Ill/Rad, Ill/Storm and Ill/TA all to 50, and have an Ill/Kin.)
Oh, and on that build? Skipping Spectral Wounds is a big mistake in my opinion. Blind at 1, SW should be taken at 2, Deceive at 4, and then start looking at your Kin powers. Siphon Power is nice to have, but can be skipped. Also, the 10% Pet Resistance IO from Expediant is wasted in Phantom Army since they don't take any damage. Tempered Readiness in Siphon Speed is a mistake -- Siphon Speed needs Accuracy and max Recharge. I see some other problems, too. I would skip Acrobatics to fit in more useful powers. Getting a -knockback IO would replace Acrobatics.
LOCAL MAN! The most famous hero of all. There are more newspaper stories about me than anyone else. "Local Man wins Medal of Honor." "Local Man opens Animal Shelter." "Local Man Charged with..." (Um, forget about that one.)

I'm not the original poster, but I still want to thank for the helpful input! Ill/rad still sounds very tempting to me, but your comments makes me still have hope for Ill/Kin. The perma-stun cast chain sounds very interesting, for example.
I don't solo, ever.
I always got people on & ready to rock n roll, so the control part is just fine

Agree on all counts, above. In fact, my 50 Ill/Kin AV hunter doesn't have any knockback mitigation at all. If you're playing an Ill/ and you're getting targeted more than once in a blue moon, you're doing something wrong. Between Superior Invisibility and your pets, you shouldn't be the focus of aggro very often at all. KB is a minor inconvenience.
Definitely concur with loading Siphon Speed up with Accuracy and Recharge. I've tried to up the stacking overlap as much as possible (this character has a ton of sets which boost global recharge...she's 5 seconds from perma-PA, with one more purple set's 10% global recharge reduction in the works). Your DPS and survivability both depend on fast recharge.
"And in this moment, I will not run.
It is my place to stand.
We few shall carry hope
Within our bloodied hands."

When you post a build, you should explain why you might have skipped powers that most people have taken. Just to clear things up. It is pretty common for Ill/Kin builds to solo, so if you never do and your build is designed to be team-only, you should explain that.

It is best combined with the Stone Epic and played as a scraptroller.

Anyone have a good Ill/Kin build and/or guide for post i-10? Only things I'm finding on here is i9 or prior.
Thanks!
