Invincibility and monitoring defense - bug ?
The underlying issue is that there are brief periods where the per-mob effect from Invincibility will double-stack with itself. It is only for a very short time, though (a fraction of a second).

I get that same thing, and yeah, after watching the power icon bar in the upper right, it was double stacking for a bit.

Hmmm... the same thing appears to happen with Against All Odds for Shields. I noticed that the damage bonus for AAO also has a tendency to fluctuate as the OP describes.

I haven't noticed that on my shield tank, but then again, I don't watch that number as closely, I'll have to check that when I can.
(I'll also have to remember not to hit Soul Drain, or I'll get really wonky results!)
Yeah it happens to AAO too. I wouldn't be surprised to find that it happens to all toggles with a tick check ... the most likely cause are the effects overlapping per tick (and/or possibly just a display timing issue overlapping per tick).

I've been meaning to test Phalanx Fighting, but I keep forgetting. The reason I'm not sure if it double stacks like the others (Invin, RttC, AAO) is because unlike them (1s activation period, 1s duration) Phalanx Fighting has a 1s activation period but only a 0.81s duration. Depending on the internal clocks of the engine, that may be just perma (the engine doesn't know to remove the buff until it ticks again) or have a gap (the engine removes the buff before it ticks again).
Phalanx Fighting doesn't do this iirc (at least I don't remember the numbers jumping around the last time I looked at it).

When Willpower first came out, people noticed this behavior in RttC and asked about it. Castle's answer basically amounted to: When an auto power or toggle counts a number of targets to provide a buff, it can either stack for a fraction of a second, or completely fall off for a fraction of a second.
I think they made the right choice.

That's odd. Invince does this with no targets in range.

Hi,
I'm leveling a tanker (invu/DM) and I have a question about invincibility. According to the in-game stats and to mids numbers I should have, when surrounded by 10+ foes, around 26% defense (CJ+steadfast+invincibility).
But I noticed a strange thing : when I'm in the middle of a large stack, my defense keeps switching from 26% to 37%, 39%, 40%, it depends. I suppose that it's a bug because according to the combat logs I have 26% def.
So is there a bug with the defense monitoring and invincibility? Because my ice tanker does not have this problem.
