Changing my name (again)

I never really liked that name, but I didn't have one I liked enough to justify using my one-time-only change token.

Considering most of the ones I see are stuff like '@Ugh_Glug has been changed to @GluXX0r,' I'm not sure you needed all that much justification.

That has to be one of the funniest things I have ever seen on the forums. Did you expect a pat on the head for publicly demonstrating someones incompetence or error ? Is this how you "Make friends" ?

He pointed out a problem, his evidence of which was publicly discounted (not just ignored) and then the problem was admitted to and fixed.
There's nothing in pointing out a problem that says "I'm demonstrating your incompetence" or even "your error". It's saying "hey, there's a problem, here's evidence".
I don't think people should expect a pat on the head, but I don't think they should expect the devs to come across as quite that dishonest, either.
In other words, this wasn't like what you're implying it was.

While certainly true, is woefully incomplete. Pointing it out privately is one thing, pointing it out in a public forum is quite another.
With this though I wouldn't expect any measure of thanks no matter how it was made known. Fixing it likely involved much extra work, and when is the last time anyone thanked you for dumping a problem in their lap ?

It happens about once a week, when I point out something that someone's overlooked or done wrong. They're usually most thankful when I spot the problem before it hits production and becomes an outage, since being the root cause in an outage lowers our end-of-year "bonus".

Goodbye and thanks for all the fish.

I'll admit there was childishness on my side of the fence during that incident, and BaBs was probably just overworked (this was just before NCSoft bought the City Of property). I mentioned it only because it was part of the history of my forum global.

There was no "thank you" when I and a few others researched the nifty little drops aren't actually random bug. Oh sure we played with it, but we posted our findings too!
I was there for that too. Just to be clear, I wasn't really expecting a "thank you", just an "oh, I guess you were right" after all the "you're wrong" I got from BaBs. But either way, it's water under the bridge now.

Let me know how you go with the name change, KeepDistance. I have wanted to change my handle from COTCaveHater to match my in game global handle, @Graal, but when I try it says the handle 'Graal' is taken, even though a search says it doesn't exist. I've assumed it is my global handle blocking my forum handle change.
I've recently sent a PM to Niviene (after fruitlessly logging an NCSoft petition) but haven't heard back.
I would think that searching only tells you that there are currently no posts on file from that handle. Someone may have created the account but never posted, or their post(s) may have been deleted over time.
Have you tried sending a PM to Graal?

This is a very true statement, If you do a great job I would think you expect people who use your product to let you know if an error was made. Bringing such errors to your attention IMHO should deserve a thanks

Since I've probably posted here more than any other forum, I thought I'd let you all know: I'm planning to change my forum name to match my in-game global, Mind Forever Burning, sometime this week.
If anyone cares, I was originally Protea, which was my in-game global from the initial introduction of the feature when it was assigned based on the first character you logged in. I never really liked that name, but I didn't have one I liked enough to justify using my one-time-only change token. As i14 drew near I realized I wanted to write under the name of my favorite badger, Mind Forever Burning, so I changed my in-game global to that. Meanwhile I had, in a fit of pique, renamed my forum handle to KeepDistance to remind myself never to try to make friends with red names (this was after BaBs discounted my video evidence of problems with drawn weapons and rooting - problems he eventually fixed, but without ever acknowledging my role in bringing them to his attention).
Anyway, I doubt there will be any name changes from here out, so I'll at least be the same person to everyone.
