Stone/Ice
Stone/Ice is a great combo for pure tanking. You have the right combination of powers for drawing and holding aggro. Damage isn't great but it's not bad either. Just bear in mind that damage is the late blooming part of this combo.
Granite is a great panic button but it really isn't necessary with this combo once you get Ice Patch slotted so that you can stack them. Also if you 3 slot Health, Earth's Embrace and Rooted for Health you can get your regeneration rate pretty high while Earth's Embrace is in effect. So you have all the mobs around you , flopping like fishes, slowed and swinging at the air when they do get an attack off. If they do hit you you regen will erase the damage in short order. Welcome to tanking!

Positron's i13 letter: We are trying to make PvP more accessible to new players, while giving experienced PvP'ers the advantage that comes with formulating tactics around the new systems we're putting in place. PvP from now on will be on our priority list. If something isn't working out, we'll be in there tweaking it and making it work, for the entire future of the product, not just Issue 13.

Not really, with Mud Pots and Ice Patch you don't really need to use taunt to hold aggro. At least I never found that I did.

McBoo has a 95% chance to hit The Point and rolls a 97.
McBoo has missed The Point.
Throws Rad auras on The Point.
Seriously, if you're trying to say Stone/Ice doesn't have much offensive output, I'd vigorously disagree with you. Pots for damage, Frost, Frozen Aura, Ice Storm (or Epic of choice) and many, many things are dead around me. Ice Melee's mitigation allows me to stay out of Granite for the most part so my damage isn't much debuffed for most fights. It's a late bloomer to be sure, but so are many other tanker secondaries.
If anything, my Stone/Ice outdamages my Fire/EM, but that says more about EM's lack of AoE than anything else.

You make it so tempting. I must resist the urge to make another tanker!

Would you mind posting a build?
Loved my stone/ice till the 40s, found it too easy to survive :P
Hi guys,
I'm starting a Stone/Ice tank and wanted to know if anyone has tried this combo. I picked this combo for concept, as well as these are the only primary and secondary power choices I really have never played long enough to see them develop. I've read a bunch of stuff regarding stone armor and ice melee on their own so I have some idea what to expect from each. I plan on mainly running granite so I am going to build for +recharge and +run... for Ice Melee, I was thinking to taking assault to help increase damage. Although I know it wont be as damaging as say, fire, I'm hoping I could get some decent dmg from my attacks. Any thoughts or suggestions? Oh I was also planning on taking the cold mastery as well.
