Most damaging Duo?

A SG member and RL friend posed this question to me, and even for as long as I have played, it kinda stumped me. Usually when I am making Duos with the Mrs.-to-be, we aim for either the funnest to run or sets that mesh well.

I am not exactly sure what all his requirements for the question are, but I am going to assume a few things even before I take a stab at answering it myself:

1. (Obviously) Lots and lots of Damage.

2. Relatively good survivability for both characters, beyond the primary mitigation tactic of "kill the enemies first." Obviously a Blaster may not going to have the survivability as a Defender or Controller, which may not match up to a Scrapper or Tank, but better than "a boss looked at me wrong and I went down."

3. He does not play Villains (yet). Therefore, while it does not completely put redside out, I am trying to focus blueside.

Here are some combinations that came to mind:
-2 Fire/Shield melee toons (Tanks, Brutes or Scrappers) could pump out a lot of AoE, while being boosted by Grant Cover and Phalanx Fighting on each other, and maybe stacked Maneuvers.

-I have not tried, but have heard some outright scary things about dual Radiation or Dark Miasma characters (Defenders, Corruptors or Controllers). And that they both only get more sick and wrong as you add more of them. May not be the "most" damaging, but gives very good damage while being pretty safe for "squishies."

-Spines/Fire or Dark Armor Scrapper and just about any type of Kineticist. I ran a duo similar to this with a Dark/Shield Scrapper and a Kin/Dark Defender (shameless plug: if you are ever on Pinnacle and see Dark.Enforcer and Dark.Vixen, say hello). Even Soul Drain and Dark Consumption served as respectable AoE when pumped up by Fulcrum Shift and made more frequent with Speed Boost (I could not fit Hasten in the build while softcapping melee and ranged and getting things like Stimulant).

Any other ideas or playstyles I am missing?

Two Kinetic/Sonic or Fire/Kinetic characters would probably be pretty ridiculous. With very high damage, recharge, and endurance buffs, you would be able to crank out capped damage as fast as you like. Either Sonic's resistance debuffs or Fire's containment + massive AoE damage would help that damage be even higher.

I team with the Repeat Offenders.

depends on what kind of damage. if your talking AoE farming damage probably spines scrappers would be your best bet or even and archery and/or fire/mm blaster combo. but for single target AV i would probably say something like a BS/SR and rad/sonic combo would be best.

BS/SR is not the best for ST damage or fighting AV, in fact it is one of the lowest ST damage over time. BS puts up great number but can't keep the damage going. For Scarppers ST damage it is Dark melee and Fire melee, if you want more damage then Shield Defense would be the best to go with. So for ST damage like trying to solo AVs then it would be DM/SD and Fire/SD Scarppers.

fire/mm blaster + kin/son def

Kin damage caps blaster for aoe spawn killing.
Sonic lowers -res for AV killing.
Blaster shuts off AV regen with drain psyche.

With drain psyche, kin heals and some IO's the blaster is survivable enough to take on pretty much anything.

Since you said you're not completely discounting redside, if you decide to go that route you could do an SS/Fire Brute and a Fire/Kin Corruptor.

How soon do you want the damage to start? Do you want area damage or single target damage? Many of the suggested pairs are very late bloomers. Though when they do bloom the damage is truly outrageous.

A little off the wall here but you could try 2 empathy/sonic defenders once you hit 12 and get fortitude you are pretty much golden. The -res from sonic helps you deal even more damage and by 32 your will not ever have to worry about endurance. Also you will be able to have both Auras pretty much up all the time by staggering them and the regen from AB and the defense from fortitude and Stacked manuevers and tactics and assualt you guys would be unkillable killing machines.

umm no?

DP is -250 regen which is half that of LR which is -500. it helps but in no way shape or form shuts off regen.

you'll want a fire/elec blaster, those guys do silly damage.

the a fire/kin could do good as a backup: make the blaster be able to just spam damage-capped blaze/havoc/charged brawl until there isnt a target

Never used it have you?

DP has enhanceable -regen, with slotting it becomes -4.87 regen. LR is -5.

LR takes AV regen down to about 24hp sec. Slotted DP takes it down to the low 30's.

So ya it shuts off regen. Well shuts it off where you could technically defeat it with just flares
