Quriky hosptial issue

Howdy all. My first foray into here... be gentle...

So I go in and run an MA story. I'm running through it, but get defeated. I was tired anyway, so instead of going to the AE hospital thing, I just leave the character in the mission, in the MA task force of one, and exit the game. I go to bed, sleep, get up, eat, go to work, lunch, more work, come home, eat, go in game...

Whereupon, I log in with that same character what's been defeated... and he's flopped down by the data stream (I think that's it's name... the big column of light you click on to go in?)... he's defeated.

Which makes... well, no sense, really. I got beat in a simulation... does that mean I have to be dead on the outside too? Of course, there's that whole "die in game, die in real life" thing that it could be... so, ok, we'll just let that one slide as a philosophical issue that has no real good answer, save one: It's the way the game is. Deal.

Alright, dealing. Whereupon I click on 'Go to Hospital.'

Now, before you read on... given the parameters, what should be the action the game performs for this action?

If you thought "send him to the AE building's 'hospital', well, I would have agreed with you.

But no, it sent me to the (in this case) AP main hospital. Which, with a level 1, is a bit of a walk back to AE...

I will admit, after writing this, I see the other philosophical issue... I stayed in mission, defeated, then left. Of course the data stream reconstituted me after 15 minutes, when the screen saver kicked in, and as I was defeated in mission, sure enough, it spat me out defeated.

But... IMO, it should have spit me out... IN THE AE Hospital... and alive. I'd just have wound up there as a matter of the logic of the situation: I was going to press the 'Go to Hospital' button anyway, if I'd stayed in game, and since I had no wakies. Why it spits me out of the data stream and then sends me to the regular hospital... well, it's just not quite right, ya ask me.

But hey. I am just venting a little bit I suppose. I found it off-putting, and not logical at all. Not to mention the trudge back...

Well... perhaps I was premature about that whole 'signing off' thing... - 11-9-2012

It *is* annoying, but it's hardly the most critical issue with the AE IMHO.

Next time this happens to you, just ask in local for a wakie. If there's anyone around at all someone will most likely give you one.

And for a while things were cold,
They were scared down in their holes
The forest that once was green
Was colored black by those killing machines

If you did the same thing in a regular mission then when you logged in you would have fallen out of the mission door defeated. Same thing.

I'm also going to take a WILD stab here (because I've never tried it) that if the same regular mission included a "jail" you would have gone to the area's hospital and not the jail when you respawned after logging back in and while hugging the ground outside the mission door.

If that's true then it is no surprise that you, lying defeated beside the AE mission "door" or datastream, would respawn to an area hospital. Given that assumption, I would think the same thing would happen if you completed the mission before death and hit Exit instead of respawn first.

But yeah, if it could simply put you in the AE hospital any time you are defeated while in AE mode that would probably be better.

There is one thing about the hospital/death etc in AE... the inspiration vendor standing outside the first-aid room doesn't sell awakens.

Which is odd but meaningless, since three anything make an awaken, and awakens normally cost either 150 or 250, I can't remember.

@KeepDistance: Oh, surely, I agree with you... my current 'no boss spawn' situation in the MA is giving me a much bigger grief problem than this. But it's teh logics of it that tweak mah brain a little. But good idea 'bout askin' for the wakie. Wasn't anyone there though...

@Golden_Avariel:

re: Well, the jail thing certainly makes sense, and I suppose it's just the way it has to be. Not a huge issue, I just found it quirky and slightly not logical.

I promise, I won't obsess over it!

Which is what I'm doing. I haven't run into a case yet where I accidentally bought too much without having 3 of something I could convert. That's saying something since I rarely use them and frequently forget to replace them

The same thing does indeed happen if you finish the mission, then die, and hit "exit" instead of "go to hospital." You only go to the AE hospital if you click "go to hospital" inside an AE mission.

...Inside an AE mission on a map that doesn't have an internal hospital, if memory serves.

Yes, I'm splitting hairs, and enjoying every minute of it.
