More popular: Team or Solo missions?
IMHO, MA is a pretty limited tool for group story telling. Not different than the regular PvE game really. I don't know of groups of people that get together to run AND read a SA mission.
Most people"appear" to be soloing when doing MA missions for "story".
The development team and this community deserved better than this from NC Soft. Best wishes on your search.
To give the naked truth, just about every AE team I've seen so far has been running farms (or really horrible arcs). I'd stick with something soloable.
Use whatever rank suits the enemy best. If you think your big bad should be an AV, or EB, make him an AV or EB. Just don't make him too hard, if you want the arc to be solo-friendly. If you can solo your scaled-down AV with a squishy, chances are most other people will be able to solo it too.

Quoted and fixed to convey my feelings on the subject.
About the solo/team in MA? I solo for story-arcs, and team in AE arcs for the shear fun of the chaos of it.

The basic problem you're asking about is whether or not teams have time to "slow down and read the story."
In my experience, the more people there are on a team, the greater the impetus to FIGHTFIGHTFIGHT!!! and skip over anything as fast as possible that doesn't involve fighting something. That's why, if you're going for a Story themed arc, you really need to skew it towards soloists ... because only soloists (might) slow down long enough to use their literacy skills (let alone their literature appreciation skills). Teams don't slow down for story, since that takes away time from "killing everything" they run across.
So to answer your question ... you're writing a story based arc, that means you should be designing it for soloists, meaning you should avoid EBs and AVs if you feel you can get away with doing so.
So, I am working on an arc and am torn whether to include AVs or Bosses.
It's story focused, so I am leaning towards just sticking with Bosses so people can solo it--but I thought I would ask...
What gets more play do you think? Solo or team focused arcs?
