Redside hami raid, July 11th.
Sadly I will not be able to lead the yellow taunt that day, my brother is getting married so that is where I'll be... PM me tho I know of a good replacement ...
I have a lvl 47 brute with taunt, Cataclysmic and was on the taunt team for the successful raid a couple of weeks ago.
Global is @Llewthor2

Llewthor, take care of my boys
And to answer your question, Squid, about why we can't get blue side level turnout for hami raids redside...
We were done in under 1hr with the first one.
If we can get it refined to under 2hrs for a red side raid, attendence will spike.

So anyways, this thread needs a bump. I just want to let everyone know that I have been recruiting. And to keep you folks interested, I figured I would post the basic strategy for redside raids so everyone knows what they are getting into.
For Starters: Hamidon appears in a zone called the Abyss, which can be accessed via a submarine just to the southeast of the main Grandville Ferry. In order to spawn Hamidon, a random number of monsters must be defeated. Each monster has a chance to drop a special inspiration known as an "Essence of the Earth", which is very helpful for resisting Hamidon's attacks.
Hamidon is also surrounded by three kinds of Mitochondria, all of which must be defeated in order to harm Hamidon. Once all mitos are defeated, Hamidon will respawn all the mitos at 75, 50, and 25 percent health. In other words, the Mitos must be cleared four times.
But you probably knew most of that already, so here is how the teams break down.
Mastermind pet stream team: Consisting of six masterminds and two kinetics corrs, the pet stream team has one of the most important jobs at the raid; holding Hamidon's aggro. This is very easy however. All they must do is constantly send waves of pets to attack Hamidon, while the kins keep their recharge buffed with speed boost. No EoE's are needed.
Yellow Taunt Team: Probably the most important team, the Yellow Taunt Team consists of six brutes with taunt and two support characters. Each brute is assigned a yellow mito, and tasked with holding its aggro. EoE's are CRUCIAL to this team's success. Once the mito a taunt brute is taunting has been killed, that brute should fold into the yellow spike team.
Yellow Spike Team: Consisting of brutes and stalkers, the Yellow spike team moves around Hamidon clockwise, clearing the yellow mitos as they go. The initial mito will be called out by the raid leader (myself), and the team will work clockwise from there.
Assault teams: Consisting of Doms, Corrs, and pretty much everyone else, the Assault team follows the targetter around hamidon, attacking the mitos he calls out as they go. Blue Mitos are attacked initially to pull healing away from the yellows, then the green mitos, then the blues.
Additionally, every team needs at least one person with teleport, in order to bring people back to the safe rock (located directly east of hamidon) after each mito bloom.
And that's pretty much it.
So..... when's the EoE farming happening since I know we are light on them.

Hrm, probably the day of the raid. Havent got my schedule from work for that week though, but I'll set a time when we can do it once I find out.
Well guys we gave it a great shot, thanks for coming out Champs... See you guys next time...
first Redside raid for me and I had fun on the taunt team
If it hadn't been for the lack of EoE i'm sure we could have done it.
Since the next raid is only in a month, I think it would be a good idea to have more than 1 EoE farm. I didn't even when it was and came to the raid with nothing. Having more than 1 farm will allow more people to get some.

I'm actually going to be on vacation from the 16th of July to the 5th of August. Ill try to get some EoE farms going when I come back, but if you could get some going while I was gone that would be great.

Yellow spike team killed too slow.
It wasnt for lack of trying, it was lack of numbers. At our peak we had 38, and thats when the second bloom of yellows went down fast. We were back down to 34 at the start of the third.. and it was down hill from there.
Bluntly, we need more people. More Brute/Stacker/SoAs for spike. More Doms for holds. All the EoEs in the world cant drop an Mito. People were hosping to save time because there wasnt much risk of getting locked out.
Thats not to say we dont have a great need for them. Squid and myself have emptied our bins for the last few raids. I have 2 left.
Also, Squid and myself had Bio nukes. That was it. Those are always useful to have for a boost to start the mito run.
And I was able to taunt hami when the mitos were down to pull the AoE blast away from the base of Hami. It helped alot when people werent getting splashed with damage. 2 PainBringers + EoE >> Hami blast.
Just my $0.02 on the raid

I heard/saw MM team was having trouble with brutes taunting in the middle of the stream killing off the pets beforethey could even hit hami.

It's pretty much always going to be that way, cause lolchampredside. People DO know about the raid, I think the only thing thats holding people back is lack of incentive. Then again I could be totally off... I mean it is 52 merits, but it's still not a very good merit/time ratio in its current state. Mehbeh one of you more creative peoples could think of sumthin to get more peoples into the Abyss.
I'm leveling a dom, and my wife's working on a corr (but nothing essential, sonic/sonic). We should be 45 by the next raid and happy to come.
part of what im seeing (based on the # of blue side raids Ive been in) is the leadership is considerably different.. I know the red side raids are different from the blue side due to the different arc types and whatnot's...
But.. on blue raids we have various, vocal, leaders.. on the red side its just squids and i think maybe it's a bit much all on his shoulders. Another issue I saw was late people not knowing where to go or what to do and when they were placed on teams the team leaders didnt direct them ( i know this from people in my vg that were late to the party.. asking in sg mode what they were spose to do..)
I'd be curious to see how it went with the blue side leaders pitching in with squids 1 week.
Squids does a great job, but cant do it all.
And the mm's placement along with the taunts has got to be dealt with too.
IMO.
was fun tho, and thats whats most important.
also we only had 35 people trying to do it instead of 50 like the blue side normally has.
I think communication would help alot and like Cherry said Squid can't do everything. I saw him direct the Spike team AND he seemed to be part of the assault team. We need someone on the spike team to actually guide their members cause they were running everywhere and getting killed by the AoE.
For example. on the 3rd run, one of our taunting brute just left so I had to taunt the first and last mito. Not a problem in itself but the range of my taunt prevented me from staying in the same place. I had to move left to right to be able to keep aggro. I kept saying in local to stay away from me cause I was taunting, yet I saw ( and killed) a dozen people easily simply with the AoE blast.
I think everything that was said here is something to look into. No one is to blame, we had only 38 people, were having problem with a mito being directly in the pet stream way, a small lack of communication and a people not knowing what to do.
We can compare it to the blue side simply because what we are dealing with now redside was exactly the same as we had to face on blue side when we started them in october/november. We now have a core of "leaders" (main leader, targeter, hami taunt leader, mito taunt leader, spike leader...etc) on blue side who know what they have to do and can react to an error or guide people to the right place. This is what we need to work on first, once we have those people ( it doesn't have to always be the same one), people will be more open to the idea of coming to the raid, knowing that people know what they are doing and that the chance of success is greater than the chance of failure.
One thing I noticed while we were begging folks to bring some kind of holds to the party is that there just aren't a lot of folks that even have those type of characters that were either a)around or b)willing to help. There were plenty of people that had some combination of Brutes, MMs, Stalkers, or VEATS, but at the point we were at, those weren't what was needed the most.
Some things we were struggling with can be remedied with better strategy, such as making sure the mitos directly in the path of the pet stream getting taken down first, but just not having the numbers of certain powersets can't easily be fixed.
We need to put our heads together and figure out what's going to bring more numbers. Strategy is nice, and all, but if you don't have the butts in the seats, it won't survive first contact with the enemy. If that means that we try a different night than Saturday, we might need to do it. Maybe we can alternate weeks on Sundays with the Hero raid. This suggestion is not a knock on the leadership we have in place so far for villain raids, but if their ability to attend or not attend on certain nights is what's holding us hostage to having them on the worst night of the week for doing anything that requires more than a couple of teams of folks, the raid will never get further than what we've got it to at present. A villain raid will probably never be as fast as a hero version, but redside raid newbies are comparing the length of time to what they know. We need to work to get it reasonably close, or the casually interested won't attend.
Loose --> not tight.
Lose --> Did not win, misplace, cannot find, subtract.
One extra 'o' makes a big difference.

I'd be more than willing to try to work out an alternating schedule if it turns out that Sunday nights are best for raids for most people. This would also free up some of the blue side leaders such that they could help out in the red side raids at a time that they are able to commit to.

Alright, so now that we have switched to a monthly redside hamidon raid schedule we have a bit more breathing room with bringing people in.
As stated before, the raid will occur at 9pm EST on July 11th. Subsequent raids will occur on the second Saturday of each month.
If you have someone you would like to bring to the raid please post your global, and the characters you could bring to the raid in this thread, and I will PM you back as to what character would be ideal.
Thanks!
