My wife and I have stumbled on a few nice combos.
Recently we paired up her fire/fire blaster with my Shield/DM tank.
Illusion/Storm controller and BS/DA scrapper was an odd one, but we made it work.
Fire/Kin and Dark/Kin corruptors. Damage output is just insane between the two of them.
Zombies/Poison MM and Dark/Nin stalker. I kill the bosses, she kills...well, everything else.
Plant/Kin controller and fire/fire blaster.
and our original pair:
Elec/Elec blaster and claws/regen scrapper.
All combos listed her toon/my toon. This is just to illustrate that ANY combo can be made effective, it's more about the players than the powersets.

I want my wife and i to run 2 MM sets. I'm think of zombie/storm and bot/pd or /ff. Not sure which one i want for the bots.
I have run a Zombies/Storm - Bots/Storm right on up to 50. The debuffs are sick and wrong! Nothing could stand in our way. Even Lord Recluse seemed like a total pansy.

My wife and I ran a thug/dark and a thug/poison MM team. Her ST debuffs and my AoE mixed with the stacked leadership of the thug LTs made for easy play. We deleted them at level 35 though, because the prep time was way too much. I13 came out about 3 months later. It was an awesome team though.
yes about time some1 mentione mm's... a thugs/dark and a robo/ff would own anything do 2 a def off the charts debuffs and a group heal and tons of aoe and single dmg just keep ff on the brute and suasidal arson and i wouldn't fosee a single minon die ever...
I'm quite fond of controller/scrapper duos.
I might suggest something like an ice/kin troller and a dark/willpower scrapper. You'll do plenty of damage, with great survivability, and plenty of versatility to handle any situation.

id go ice/rad instead of kin. esp with fire scrapper. nice holds and debuffs for you to let loose on.
