This just starting happening when I have 2 accounts loaded the screen that I'm not on (my 2nd account) wont follow my first and it looks like its lagging and It randomly dc's, if anyone can help me with this I would greatly appreciate it.

Try cranking down your graphics settings. I had the same problem till I did that. Other than that, dunno.

Both of my accounts are on the lowest graphic settings. As soon as I switch to my 2nd accounts screen the toon runs up to the 1st account and when I go back she stops following again

Unfortunately, that sounds like what happens when either your system or your network connection is not up to handling two copies running at once.

If you aren't already, try the following: Type *both* of the following commands on *both* copies:

/maxfps 24
/maxinactivefps 8

That should give you roughly movie-grade performance on the active window, and jerky-but-viewable performance on the other one(s). See if this helps. If it does but not enough, try reducing the numbers further.

Seriously consider reducing the max particles on each copy to less than half what you would on a single copy.

In general, turn down effects. You might even want to try running both copies in Safe Mode.

If none of this helps, it may be your network connection. Make sure that nothing else is taking up your bandwidth (background downloads, streaming radio, Windows Search indexing, anti-virus scans or updates, roommates downloading pr0n, kids across the street stealing your wireless because you left the password at the factory defaults, whatever...)

If performance tuning doesn't help, post your CoH Helper & Hijack This logs, plus some info about what kind of net connection you have; someone may be able to give you more specific tuning suggestions.

SWEET those commands seem to have worked it still seems laggy on the 2nd when I'm on the first but the 2nd is following.

Thank you very much good sir

p.s is the problem in general related to my graphics card cuz I seem to have alot of problems with this card (ATI) like I'll see triangles off the top of my head and walls will turn into to multi colored circuit board looking things.

Check out BillZBubba's ATI Issues and Settings Recommendations thread that is stickied in this forum. The first post is all you need.

If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

Well it was working with the commands u gave me but i logged for awhile then logged back in and its doing it again so I tried the commands again but this time its not working

Try lowering the numbers like maxinactivefps 2 and bring the other one down if need be until you get a good medium.

/maxfps 15 is what works the very best for me, after playing with the numbers. It makes activity in both screens happen at the same time. (Before, I could only play one toon at a time..now I can pop back and forth quickly and play them both.)

OMG.......THANK YOU!!

This started happing to me around the 14th as well. I run to accounts and use the auto follow option. Then I noticed exactally what was described. Not following or random DC's. Even when I had 2 Detra's dancing in the D one would DC. Now I knew /dance5 was bouncy.. but didnt think it could DC me.

So I thought hmmm.. well its been a while maybe I should do some updates.. After I went to IE8 my system started flickering. Even on microsoft it seem like a known issue so I rolled back, still flickering on start up at the XP screen. *grrr*
Okay FINE.. its been a long time since I did a hack and slash. Not that I use the net for p0rn.. *coff coff*
A couple hrs later YaY fresh start!! Monday at the D ....wha? /dance5 still laggy?? NO!!! oh well worry about it tomorrow. Tuesday nite. Ran mission for uhm.. stuff .......oh look still same thing.. hmmm.. think think think.. mmmm.. maybe some settings. Tried all that.. Still couldnt get the 2nd to follow the first. She just stood there until i clicked back in that box. (I have my res set to windowed) So when she would hurry and try to find who she was auto'ng.. but if i clicked back to the first box.. usually she'd just stop! *cries*
Wednesday night.. Dancing in the D again.. same issue.. wtf?Maybe its my memory card.. Thrusday new video card w/ 1gb YaY!!! shiney!! .............. WHAT?!?!?!! STILL THE SAME FREAKING THING *bashes head against desk and cries like a little girl* ( should have moved my coffee cup first*
Okay.. for S&G's we are going to do yet another hack and slash. YaY!! Fresh start new card gogogogoogo!! go go uh.. nope. [insert profanity here repeatly!!!]
Okay maybe my memory sticks failed, doubtfull but hey.. I had it down to processor, network card or maybe mother board. But I could still do all the stuff i normally do like have winamp, youtube, yahoo and one instance of the game open.
So after being really frustrated and staying up way late (4:34a est and 7a is going to come real early ) I deceided to look out my recepit for *gasp* the geek squad thingy. So on a whim I check out the forums. And guess what was here?

So i logged into the games and did the /maxfps 15 OMG IT WORKED!!!! YaY!!

*gives everyone big squishy boobie hugz™ again... to the FACE!!!!*

YaY! I can finally go back to sleep peacefully now!!

okay so like its been a couple of days now. Really didnt get to deep into it on Friday morning.. since it was late. But I have noticed a couple things over the couple of days.

1. When ever I log out and back in I have to do the /maxfps thingy again.

2. Even though it seems to be okay. There is still quite a bit of noticable lag.

I will try to post the setting things from highjackthis later today.

Some of the troubleshooting things I have done thus far.
-reinstalled windows! Yay IE8 making it all poopy. So i re-reinstalled after the rollback didnt work. On IE7 again.
-got a new viedo card nvida9400 1gb (old one nvida 7600 512mb)
-took my tower to work to hook up on different network connection.
-swapped out ram sticks. (running 4 gigs.)

-ran the game in safe mode. which suprized me it did the exact same thing on the lowest graphics settings.
-ran the /showfps. when i clicked on each box they both were way above 20 reaching 40+. Though the box i cam from woudl drop to 15 & 7 till within seconds frezzing.

Now there would be other toons around me.. So I would see them running along fine etc. So no lag or freezing on the active box. Though when i would look at my second toon she would just be frozen or running in place.

I am running windows xp.
I have an AMD Atholon 64 processor. ( ya i know its a single core, but I never had a problem prior to last sunday. )

I am going to try to aquire new network card today in addition i have friend with a pretty newer system who used to play so I am going to have him load up my accounts and see what it is like on his side of the fence.

You're probably having one of two problems: either your system can't keep up with running and displaying two clients, or your network connection can't handle the bandwidth for two clients.

If it's your system, it might not be the graphics. Your system will generally be limited by whatever the "worst" part is; if it's the graphics card, upgrading it will help... but if it's the CPU, that's not going to help much. It's all interconnected, and frequently what graphics you can use end up being limited by your power supply, for instance.

To try and give an example with imaginary numbers, let's say your graphics card has an arbitrary performance limit of 4.5, and your CPU has an arbitrary performance limit of 4.8. You'll be seeing a performance of 4.5, based on the graphics card speed. If you go out and buy a better graphics card that has an arbitrary performance limit of 5.5... you'll only actually see a performance of 4.8, because now the CPU is limiting your system.

The 9400 isn't that good of a card for running one copy of CoH, and I'm not surprised that two copies are a problem. If you can run and afford a better one, you might want to consider it. A 9600 GT is only about $75 these days, for instance, *if* your system can run one. (And if you can't, the new low-power 9600 are interesting, although I've not actually heard from anyone who has tried one yet.)

Try the following: Turn most of the graphics settings down (or even run in safe mode), and in *both* copies run *all four* commands:
/maxfps 8
/maxinactivefps 2
/showfps 1
/netgraph 1
This will look pretty bad! However, you can use it to help figure out what part of your system or network is the problem.

If things are slow but predictable, you can start gradually turning up the FPS numbers to see what your system can handle. If you're still having problems, keep an eye on the netgraph, which should be like a field of short green grass.
