with the new changes to dom well flares get a damage increase or stay the same? i dont understand the math too well when it comes to the damage mods.

Flares does much more damage now than before due to the Domination's damage bonus getting rolled into the Base Modifiers of the Archetype.

What the changes you see mean, is that basically Flares has been rebalanced into a "tier 1" attack that has no secondary effect (Which for Fire is supposed to be additional damage).

Yeah, the damage didn't go down, and in fact went up - but it still needs another looking at. It seems to have inadvertently lost the 'extra' damage it's supposed to have as a fire attack - without that, it's still decent, but not imo as good as it was before (but that's due to the increased recharge, it still does more damage than it used to).

I think that Flares had been "tweaked" because of its long animation time, and now that the animation time is down to a reasonable level, the End cost and recharge were put back. Why this wasn't done in the first place I don't know, but perhaps the current devs weren't the ones who reduced its End cost and recharge in the first place.

The endurance changes were due to the damage going up. With Dominators having a higher ranged damage modifier Flares got a sizable damage boost, and they calculate endurance based off of damage so that had to go up too.

I'm not sure why they raised the recharge though... maybe they felt it would be a little too powerful with the new damage and decided to slow it down a bit and keep the damage instead of dropping it to a 0.8 or so damage scale and keeping the recharge. Hopefully it will be tweaked a bit during testing... I like the fast feel of Fire so I'd rather see something like 3 seconds for Flares and 6 seconds for Fire Blast even if it meant slightly lower damage (and endurance use).

They calculate endurance not off of final damage number, but off of damage scalar number - which (effectively) didn't change (for example, ice bolt's end cost didn't change, even though its damage went up thanks to the modifier increase, and that's because the base damage scalar of the ice bolt power didn't change). Flares went from a scale 1.01 attack to a scale 1.0 attack. Normally that should have meant that its endurance cost wouldn't have changed, but the problem is that flares used to have scale 0.71 damage that it paid the correct amount of endurance for, and then a bonus 0.3 scale damage that it didn't pay for as its secondary effect due to being a fire attack. Now, they decided to balance flares as a scale 1.0 attack with a 4 second recharge and the 5.2 end of all scale 1.0 attacks, but they accidentally forgot about the free scale 0.3 damage from the secondary effect. Flares *should* have gone from a scale 1.01 attack costing 3.69 end and recharging in 2.18 seconds to a scale 1.3 attack costing 5.2 end and recharging in 4 seconds, but someone dropped a number along the way.
