If DR is set officially for OFF, and zones still have it ON, that means all serious pvp'rs need an arena build and a zone build to do both and have themselves have max potential in every environment.
DR should be on so zones and arena pvp will have the same build.

People have multiple builds and this is test, get a clue or get out.
dr should be on because it allows us to play straight damage teams again, making it more skill based in that emps actually get a chance to heal the target, and u actually have to work for the kill with blasters unlike tk/as strat. makes for MUCH more entertaining and fun matches.
Yeah, pretty much that. I've had way more fun in the KB's I've done with those settings on test than I had doing DR-off team matches on live or test.

Hi, I'm the Legendary J-Man.
Now I haven't actually done any test pvp but I have been following what has happened since the days of my pal Nino and Tribute in the test leagues.
Its sad to see everyone fall on hard times, and while I sure as pie wont teach anyone anything new I will trow in my 2 cents because you all can't stop me. Enjoy the Wall of Text.
So what I have to say is that in any competetive gaming there is always rules implemented by the players to make things more reasonable. Devs can only do so much and usually they end up with a game where the metagamers find all kinds of things broken.
Akuma in SF2, Old Sagat, Meta Knight in SSBB, Magneto/Storm/Sental in MvC2. So it is not so unheard of that over powered characters get banned or soft banned in competetive play.
Only in SF4 have I seen a balanced game where one character isn't broken over the others.
In the mmo format the devs can and will make changes to the ridiculously broken stuff which make us as players have to rething the metagame over and over again.
Which means its not a bad thing to say lets regulate our player ran tournements to two ATs only, because who really wants to fight an all stalker team. Even put a soft ban in there where the top leagues all agree to not play that team and if some n00b team trys it you can dominate them. But if some n00b team can walk in with an all stalker team and dominate, thats where the problem is.
In regards to the discussion of all these options and why should it be our job as players to pick them I have to say if we wanted to play by the rules then we wouldn't be discussing a test league. The reason for the test league is to play outside the rules in the most open formate ever. Infinite respecs, infinite money to make whatever build you want. That isn't playing by the rules. The devs were kind enough to give us all these rules to play by, thus it is our job to figure out which settings do we want. Think about any fighting game where you have to decide match length or number of rounds. Stock v timed. Its a perfect staple of high end competetive gaming.
Smash Bros is the perfect example of this because all competeive smash bros play is on final destination (or equivilent flat zones) with no items. Limiting the number of zones and taking out items goes directly against what the devs programmed that game for, but that is what the meta players decided.
What has to be remembered is the reason test pvp was started in the first place. All the pvpers in the various zones wanted to complete with each other and test was the perfect place to do that. Maybe its time to head back into our respective servers to bring pvp back to the level where people will want to head back to the test server for the real competition.

Nice post Jman, but about your last sentence i had experience in last i13-i14 that new pvp'ers are actually in no way interested in arena or even aware there is test. Yersterday i had a convo with one player that does mostly zone pvp and some arena, in his opinion test pvp is just too troublesome and too much work. Also, he mentioned that old pvp'ers don't want to accept new pvp'er what i had to counter with arrogance that new pvp'ers bring nowdays. Somehow it just doesn't work like it used to be

As for old PvPer not accepting the new one, I hear it all the time in arena chat someone will ask a valid question only to get "learn2play" "Noob" or some other silly answer. Not all the time but often enough to leave a bad impression.

This. When I started I probably wouldn't got as far as I have if I didn't have a couple of long time vets on my global that helped me out with questions and builds I had. Its not many that do this, but its enought to be annoying.
But in the same aspect some need to realize its just a game and what people say on the intrawebz shouldn't effect you that much. Some need to build some tough skin to.
Also there are some arrogant n00bs that won't take anything to heart, but just because of these select few I don't think it should be takin out on all the other new players that are interested.
