+Range and Diminishing Returns

OK, I’d like some guidance. Apologies if this is repeated elsewhere, I haven’t been able to find it yet.

I’m currently looking at a ranged blaster build for PvP. I noticed the new PvP sets have a ton of +Range bonuses, finally. However, if I were to slot a PvP build with around 30% +range, will diminishing returns knock that to around 10%? (or what would be the resulting +range bonus?)

Just to give a rough idea of scale, a Blaster running Boost Range (gives a 75% range boost AFAIK) gets DR'd to somewhere in the mid 50s. I'd assume 30% would get DR'd to somewhere around 20.

[Boost range] - 59.6% range buff

I'd totally go and double-check DR on +range if my Psi/EM hadn't been deleted...

remeber that DR is on a curve.. so the less you have the less your punished (and yes punished is the right word). Keep in mind tho.. its the TOTAL, not the buff from sets or from powers.

So your standard blast is 80 ft and you slot 3 range IOs in it (not that you ever would). Then you hit boost. and then say you had 37.5% range buff from set bonuses. That equals out to about 155% range buff. That would get hit harder then just boost range or just the 35.7% from set bonuses.... anyway.. its the total number that gets DRed...

My PB runs in nova with her 2 ST blasts slotted with 3 centriole hamis. That brings her 100 ft range up to 156 feet.

Recently I put in 4 sets of javellin volley for a nice 30% range bonus. Obviously I can't say what the range now would be in PvE because the set bonuses only apply in pvp, but my maths show it would be 203 ft range. In the arena in drops to 189 ft range. So DR does not hit range bonuses very hard.

I have a total of 47.5% range on my PB and his 100 foot Nova blasts are sitting at 119.something last I checked. That's a worse return on my investment than DreadShinobi is getting on his. Would I actually get more range with less bonus? I am thinking I could easily drop down to 30% if it's actually going to give me a bigger bonus to my range...

Is it possible HamiOs are not affected by DR because they are not set bonuses?

Even slotted enhancements are subject to DR (part of the reason self-heals don't heal for as much in a DR-on environment).

So diminishing returns on top of diminishing returns?

How does it help casual PVPers step into PVP?

As far as helping casual or brand new ppl that just stepped in the zone? Not one bit. The system is very counterintuitive to what you already know from pve play. Basicly you have to relearn how most all of your power work.

It doesn't.
