Stupid Editing Story

I have a bad habit of staying awake til around 7 am EST...when no one else is on. At some point I decided this would be the ideal time to edit my base, since SG members wouldn't be tramping in and out demanding that I stop moving rooms around.

Today, while designing a "secret place" in one of my base rooms, I lost a counter and couldn't find it again. I figured, okay, no big deal, it's just 100 prestige, I can make that back no problem. Exited base editing mode and went to check out my work, only to find the counter very obviously stuck in a wall.

I re-entered editing mode to see if I could get it out. Nope. Can't get the walls to go down to get it either. The damn thing is stuck good.

So now I'm sitting here at 5:30 am waiting for assistance with getting a counter out of the wall...and I'm thinking this should serve as a lesson to me not to edit my base at 5 am any more.

Anyone else have stuff like this happen to them?

=P Take your story, then add on a room with 600 placed desks....not able to move, had to delete the room to work the base, that pissed me off pretty good=P

LOL.

7 am...yep, STILL waiting for support...and if I have to delete and rebuild my entire telepad bay because of one stupid desk, I will be ticked off beyond belief.

At least I have the awesome secret fort to console me. *hides out in fort watching for trespassers*

Ooooh I've been there. Had that problem when I was originally designing the first two-story room in one of my former SG bases. This was back in the pre-i13 stacking days of course.

I do most of my editing in the wee hours as well for publicly accessed bases, just to prevent people being put out by or getting in the way of whatever I'm working on.

Yeah, i pretty much got forced into editing when no one else was around by my SGmates...most common phrases from SG chat were "Snap, where'd you move the ____ to now?" "Why are you putting that there, that makes no sense!" and "Can I have my own room?" And then, of course, there were the smartalecks who I share global channels with... "Uh-oh, Kyo is editing the base again. Women are just never satisfied with where things go, are they?"

Did you get this fixed DJ?

You know, if you have a hard time "grabbing" an item that might be stuck somewhere, you can go down to the "items in this room" bar and click on the items until the one you want is hightlighted - then delete it. It's tedious, but no worse than waiting for CS or GM.

No, I never did get it fixed.

I had the pleasure of deleting my favorite room and having to rebuild it from scratch. Granted, it has had a few tweaks in the process (because I just can't resist!), but it is still my favorite room. Tech support contacted me once to say they were bumping me up a level, then never got back to me again.

And Impish_Kat, that will be very, very helpful to me in the future...I can already tell...

That is the norm for CS/Tech Support.

The Current Room Tab is the easiest way to get rid of something misplaced. If you hit another snag like that, use the Current Room Tab to delete a misplaced item. Not that you misplaced it, the Editor will misplace them for you, lol.

That tab also comes in handy for deleting the safes, lamps, and floor Plates we all use for stacking purposes these days.

Have fun!

That aside, maybe tilting the camera to be looking up at the floor and dragging it to another room would have helped. Desks are finicky things when there's stuff on them.

I've had things zap off to god knows where and I couldn't find them to delete them. It wasn't quite the irritant as your situation, but I did find the room's list of placed items. You can click on the delete button there, or you can hit the delete key.

I ended up hitting the delete key because clicking the button didn't work right. It never sold the item. There's some weirdness with my 3D card, dual monitors, and the left-right configuration of monitors 1 and 2.

Extending the height of the bar at the bottom of the base editing screen fixed it.

(I have a similar problem with entering enhancement view mode by double-clicking the word "ehnancements" above the clicky bars where you place your attacks and toggles. But if I extend the height to a full 3 rows, I can double-click it again.)
