Basically take your pets and 6 slot em, and take all of Pain.Throw in Fitness,Leadership,and a travel and you're golden.

That is what I have been doing.. curious of a build layout.. the IO's are very new to me since I am returning after a 2 year AWOL.
Unless you team a lot the rez, morale, and share pain is near useless. Even while on teams the rez is not absolutely needed. I'll see if I can dig up my old build on my old drive.
Share Pain could be handy for keeping your Bruiser alive if you let him tank. If you tank yourself using Bodyguard then yes, it's pretty much a team only power. Enforced Morale has good status protection and +perception in it, so it will be handy to use on the pets against certain enemies.

The rez on a team is highly useful, as it buffs your Recovery Rate by 4.19% and your recharge rate by a whopping 75% for a minute. Very useful indeed.

OP is merc/pain, I doubt he's using his commando to tank. Pets dont suffer from -perception powers, if a Night Widow hits em w/ smoke. They still shoot her

Depends really on if he plans to team very much. I rarely team with my merc/pain so I took haste instead

I don't have Mercs, and I don't have a /Pain MM, but I do play MMs and I do have a /Pain corruptor. The short info: take everything in /Pain, and take all the good stuff in Mercs. Any guide (they're sticky at the top of this forum) will tell you what the good stuff is in Mercs.
The only trick in /Pain is the order you take the powers. I skipped Soothe and took Share Pain right away. Share Pain heals more and so works better for single targets that your aura (Nullify Pain) won't handle. I delayed Soothe until 24 or so. Taking both single target heals allows you to heal two targets, or chain both on a single target for a panic heal.

I'm almost ready to agree that Serum isn't worth
taking - swapping in hasten in place of it is something
I'm debating.

Hey! This is awesome! thanks! What are you using for a Travel Power?
I'm actually using fly (where build lists hover) because
I've been around forever. A viable alternative is to
buy jetpacks in grandville (only cost 10k infamy) Another
alternative would be to replace hover, serum with hasten,
superspeed, which would have the benefit of bringing world
of pain, anguishing cry, painbringer back faster.
