Solo Friendly Task Forces

But a task force of one isn't a task force. It's a mission.

And a task force of 8 isn't a task force. It's a merit run.
I15 has been on Test for what... hours? I took a glance at a couple of threads about it and already there's discussion of how fast it might be possible to do them, and whether or not they'll be a viable alternative to repeating the ITF.
A team of 6 or 8 is the worst way to experience any new story in the game for the first time. From my point of view, if this is all there is to the next issue, then I15 is a non-event, because by the time it goes live the speed run tactics will already be up and running, and that will be the norm.

I don't know...if you want just the merits, Id wouldn't always go with 8.
Look at Posi, 3-4 people to speed it up.

Also, to address the thread, I don't mind content designed for groups, and I would actively vouch for it if there were also a version of the same content designed for solo players. Kind of like WoW's raids and dungeons - there's the regular version that's doable much more easily, and then there's the Heroic version that's many, many times harder and requires around five times the players. So, I'd say give us "lite" versions of the current TFs, but cap their team size to three or four or some such. Enough so that they're not limited to JUST one single person, but also not enough for them to be done on a big team that should be doing the ACTUAL TF anyway.
The other thing that bothers me is stories that get left hanging. The Hollows, Striga and Croatoa storylines all end in a TF, which is a real bummer if you've done the content solo up until this point. In fact, I've never so much as seen the Caverns of Transcendence and the Katie Hannon TF, and I've only ever done one speed-run of the Hess TF which actually failed, and I STILL didn't get to see any of the actual plot.
I'm not going to ask for TFs to stop being "serious business," but why can't we have a smaller, easier version that simply doesn't reward as much (or at all) available on the side? Or, hell, why not go the other way? Why not make TF versions of all available story arcs? Put them all at a minimum of four people, don't scale anything and upgrade all Elite Bosses to AVs. I'd actively like to see that happen, both because I won't actually have to do any of 'em, being that I can still do the regular arcs, and because it might get people to do some of the older arcs if they were cool enough. I mean think about it - World Wide Red as a TF? I might be tempted to do it, actually, because I like the arc and I like the Kronos Titan.

Interestingly enough, in WoW I would 'gear up' and then go back and solo as much of the earlier raids as I could. To me, that was fun. Yeah, I ran them on a team as I was leveling up, but it was more fun to run through it solo, it gave it a more 'epic' feel. In CoX, I've ran the TFs on multiple characters multiple times. Heck, I even soloed the Posi TF with a Grav/FF Controller because I was bored (the rest of the team dropped after the 1st mission). To me, there's something about doing things solo that adds more of a challenge to the game and gives it a more epic feel, because I know the only person I can rely on is me and the story is revolving around me. I would love to have the ability to run the TFs solo and then fight an EB at the end. Can you imagine doing the Faathim TF solo? That would be awesome!
I will agree with your second paragraph. I also have never done the Cavern or Katie. No idea how the story ends. That bums me out a bit.
As for your 3rd paragraph, well, you can 'kindof' do that with Oro, but I get what you are talking about. Bump up the difficulty a bit, crank the Named Bosses and EBs up to EBs and AVs (or Monsters in some cases). I wonder if this is something they could add to the Oro options. On the flip, I wonder if they can add the TFs/SFs to Oro and 'convert' them into standard Story Arcs.

Casual Players with limited time miss out on a quite a bit where TFs are concerned...
I've only done one of the Freedom Phalanx TFs (Citadel), One Kattie Hannon, and the ITF twice...that's it. No other TFs. Unable to do anymore. And I have 3 50s haha
I don't have a problem with TFs requiring teams, but I do wish TFs had a 'Come and Go' mechanic. That way I might be able to join and enjoy the first parts of TFs and when I have to quit, the Star can invite a newcomer to replace me...or maybe I could be the replacment member for the latter parts of a TF... Anything's better than what I currently get to experience - *zero* TFs
Maybe the TF only dissolves if the Initiater/Star ends it. During the TF the star can invite new Members all the time, and each new mish scales to the number of teammates (to the minimum). I dunno how rewards could be scaled in such scenarios, but certainly some vialble solution could be done.
I would be willing to take a Merit hit if I soloed a TF. That way if could go at my pace, log if I had to and return. If I wanted to speed it I could. If I wanted to lope around and read every clue and defeat every bad guy I could do that too.
I think a LOT more people would do TFs if they coud be soloed. If the AV at the end is too tough to colo then include a warning at the beginning that the character reduce thair Diff so they spawn as EBs instead.

I don't see the reasons why reward should be changed for solo vs team: For example, you getting the same reward for 3 men Posi as 8 men posi. Why solo posi should be any different?
[/ QUOTE ] Almost all the the TF have at least one AV in them. By scaling them down to EB level they become significantly easier.
[/ QUOTE ]
Even if TF has AV in it, AV will be scaled down to EB in case if only 2-3 players are on TF and all others quit...
[/ QUOTE ] Why would it scale down because people quit? I was assuming you only get the EB if you start it solo.
[/ QUOTE ]
TFs are designed to never scale down at all. Even back when a TF could still technically consist of just one player, AVs would still not scale down to EBs. Spawn sizes will still scale, but today, the best you can hope for is two-man spawns even when solo, because you'll need to have at least one more person before the TF auto-disbands.
