The Rogueness of it All

Had some thoughts about heroics, villainy, and our fair city

Have you ever felt, as you go about your crime stopping and defending, that Paragon seems a little sterile?

Or, as you beat on cops and other baddie types, that you're really only stealing from, and creating a general nuisance for, the part of the population that's lower in the caste?

Especially redside, going about the intended badassery, it feels like we're all in it together.. as long as we're doing it in this cordoned off little area that is so downtrodden no one cares if we wreck it anyway

So, here comes Going Rogue

And if conjecture is on the money, we will now be able to play ATs on either side

Sounds good- I want to see what some of the red ATs can do with the blueside content

I'm not complaining or asking for anything, but...

What if you could play AT specific content on the other side?

Take your blaster to the Isles and join in the battle to take it back from the ne'er do wells
Get smashtastic in the part of the city that's so shiny and clean it makes you just want to... break something

I don't know.. maybe I'm navelgazing out loud

But then again maybe... just maybe some good ideas could come out of this

Thoughts?

Go smash through the Freedom Phalanx in the LRSF as my hero in order to work out some aggression issues involving them. Dr. Chernobyl'll just claim he was mind controlled or something.

Kind of vaguely Stalinist, actually, with the huge statues of Heroes of the People all over.

I would love to be able to use Going Rogue as a means of PVP-less destruction in Atlas or in RI. I'd feel more super being able to go up against the evil people without having Lvl 50's guarding the PVP Blueside or red side and taking me out within seconds.

Indeed, that's why I'm usually redside. It looks lived in... homey, like a comfortable nest around one's couch composed of a blanket, empty chip bags, a few dirty dishes (no more than 2 days old, please - I do have some standards), the shoes and socks you pulled off right after getting home and a snoozing cat or two (well, ok, snake). That's what redside feels like to me.

Blueside feels like detail-less Teflon that gets hosed down at the beginning of each day with the suds and water running down some inconspicuous drains, something like Disneyland.

I hate Disneyland.

I know what you mean. Until recently I spent most of my time redside. Then I found myself standing on a beach in PI one day looking around thinking something was wrong with it. I couldn't put my finger on it right away but it eventually dawned on me.

There was no garbage littering the sand. No empty oil drums, discarded tires, broken crates washed up on the shore, etc.

Boring!

Villains: Annie Alias, Dr. Amperical, Shade Golem, Knight Marksman
Heroes: The Clockwork Mime, Soccerpunch, The Fissioneer, Samurai Houston, Oversteer

That's the reason I find myself playing Villains 95% of my time. Things redside are much livelier, the world is more dynamic, the dialogue is more interesting, the layout of the cities much more interesting and less flat.

Oh, and I also like the Villain AT choices MUCH more than the Hero ones.

Oddly enough, I prefer the squeaky clean and shiney look of Paragon City...

...Well, okay, that's mostly because it would be awesome as all hell to decimate it, but let's not over-analyze. I just want to live my dream of stepping into Paragon, nuking five city blocks, standing atop City Hall and shouting "Who among you would dare try and stop me now!? MUHAHAHAHA!!" Sadly, I think that's more than Rogue has to offer...

The off-beat space pirate...Capt. Stormrider (50+3 Elec/Storm Science Corruptor)
The mysterious Djinn...Emerald Dervish (50+1 DB/DA Magic Stalker)
The psychotic inventor...Dollmaster (50 Bot/FF Tech Mastermind)

Virtue Forever.

I think this is why I prefer Hazard Zones over most of Paragon. They're more interesting.

There's creepy Dark Astoria, ruined Crey's Folly, and the endless battles in the Rikti War Zone. The latter one especially just feels so alive.
