okay i have 2 questions i would like answers to, first why does no one working for nc soft or any company that could help me with CoH crashing all the time bother paying attention to me or helping me even in the slightest way. i haven't gotten any reply from anyone related to CoH. and secondly, does CoH not work in windows 7?

CoH does work with Windows 7, however they don't officially claim support for Vista or Win7 yet.

Who didn't respond to you? Did you send an in-game petition? It will usually take some time to get a response back. The weekend (especially a holiday) is a rough time to get support also.

As for your issue, what is it? Maybe we can try to help in the meantime.

anyone conected to CoH hasn't responed, i sent afew in game petitions with no response, over a 2 weeks, i've sent emails to the tech support with no response, i've even sent pm's to some of the people on the forums. and as for my problem, my game just seems to crash randomly all the time, most common while teaming, to the point where i just can't play the game, and i've ran every test i can think of on my computer and i've reinstalled the game, it seems nothing on my end is causing it. and do you know why CoH won't load in win7, it goes threw the updater then it says it encountered a problem and crashs.

1) Do a current Virus scan and spyware scan
2) Defragment your hard drive
3) Ensure latest updates applied
4) Update all video drivers, and other drivers
5) Do a scandisk on your hard drive
6) Check running temperatures on your computer.
7) Ensure all cooling fans are running
8) Do a dust-blast on your cooling fans and fins
9) Ensure all cables are securely fastened, cards are tight, and memory is tight.
10) Do a memory test
11) Get HiJack This and post the results in the Tech Forum, asking for help
12) I thought Win 7 was in Beta.... No guarantees there.

Go to your master PlayNC.com account and make sure that your email is verified. Then make sure that any email they are sending you isn't be filtered into your spam or junk mail folders. Click here for more info.

When you submit a /petition in-game, you're supposed to get an email with a customer service ticket number. You can then follow up on your 'case file' by going to the customer support page with that ticket number for further correspondence.

If you don't get any emails back from your petitions, you can go directly to that customer service page linked right above and start a new 'ticket.'

Try disabling desktop composition.

Right click your City shortcut
Select 'Properties'
Select the 'Compatibility' tab
Click the box beside 'Disable desktop composition'

That helps some people with crashing in vista...

Apparently I'm to stupid right now to make an awesome link with a picture and stuff but neverthelss sign the petition! [u]http://www.change.org/petitions/ncso...city-of-heroes[u]

Follow this. Gives info on how to give the info they're asking for.

And I'd double check your email. I know you said you put it in correctly, but honestly, within minutes of a /bug OR /petition (and which one are you using?) you should get a "We have received..." automatic email from support at the email address you've given.

While you say you've checked your spam filters as well, some ISPs have them also. (One backup email I have sends me a periodic "report" on the spam they've stopped upstream, asking me to double check a quarrantine. The emails THEY catch never get to my email's spam filter.) Worst comes to worst and you're still not getting anything, set up a Hotmail account just for it. They're not blocked there, and it's free.

... plus, honestly, if you're not aware the Win7 RC is a beta... pull it and put in a production OS (XP or Vista.) At least you'll have a more consistent base and known quantity to start from in your OS. Win7 isn't expected to be final and released until likely late this year. While I am running Win7x64, dual-booted, and running COH in it successfully... I also know the risks of dealing with a beta and don't do *anything* I can't hop out to XP and do. (I've beta tested operating systems since back in the days of OS/2. I find it interesting and enjoy finding new and interesting ways to crash them. But I'm odd that way.)

Check out this thread, Common Solutions & Posting Guidelines

Then post the results of these two programs:

<ul type="square">[*]CoH Helper - it will show us basic computer settings and your CoH configuration.
[*]HijackThis - it will show us what's running on your computer concurrently with CoH. Click on "Do a system Scan and save a logfile." It will automatically open up Notepad and put the info there. Make sure Wordwrap is off in Notepad (Format &gt; Wordwrap unchecked) before you cut and paste here.

and sorry i can't figure out what hijackthis's problem is it won't save the file it just shows some stuff that i have no idea how to read and says to type somthing into run to delete the files it brought up but i don't know if i should delete them or not

Posted

yeah i do that and it comes up with an error message, it says...

for some reason your system denied write access to the hosts file. if any hijacked domains are in this file, hijackthis may not be able to fix this.

if that happens, you need to edit the file yourself. to do this, click start, run and type:

notepad C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

and press enter. find the line(s) hijackthis reports and delete them, save the file as 'hosts.' (with quotes), and reboot.

for vista: simply exit hijackthis, right click on the hijackthis icon, choose 'run as administrator'.

I would turn the first 3 off, and set Shader Detail to High. You will first have to turn Show Advanced Graphics Options to on.
