since leaving Warcrack and jumping ship to this game there is one thing that I do miss is the e-social life in guild chat. my question is are there any casual guilds on the server that have an open recruitment? I did do the "raiding" thing on WOW so I am experienced as far as these kinds of games go, but I am just looking for a kick back and relax setting.

Welcome to the game and to Infinity. Stickied near the top of the Infinity forum should be a list of Super Groups on Infinity. You can puruse it to find groups which interest you. Nothing wrong with posting that you're looking for a group, either, but this way you can get some background, too.

Now that you're here and welcomed, would you mind sending some coffee? Just pour it into the Universal Speed Boost port there... thanks.

Welcome to the game and hope you enjoy it here in Infinty, where the coffee is speed boosted!

You should be able to change all keybinds and where the power buttons are in game, and set up macros. The buttons are click-and-drag, there's a section on macros in user guides, and keybinds are under user options. If you're talking about outside software or mods, those aren't allowed in this game.

Expanding on this a bit - outside mods that tweak the code aren't allowed, but there are map overlays and other programs (like HeroStats) that are.

The developers have tried to make the UI fairly customizable already, though; you may find most of what you want to do already available in the game.

Siolfir is much more in-tune with the mechanics and rules and numbers of the game than I am. I, however, make better cheesecake.

but illegal mods, no i am not into that either. i just like to customize my UI to fit my play style better. overall i am having a good time playing the game. after all these years with crack i really needed a change, just wish i had picked this up sooner.

You should be able to expand the number of power trays you have open, and resize them, too, and move powers around in the trays or remove them all together. When you first look at your power tray, try clicking the up arrow. That will open a second, and then a third. There are nine altogether. You can also move where the trays are, if they're horizontal or vertical, stuff like that. Should be something in the "Customizing the Game" section of the Player Guides. I'll poke around tomorrow and see if I can dig up the guide for you, if you haven't figured it out by then.

i have messed with it and i have seen what all i can do. and it does work fine, i just want more. i am kinda like the little bratty kid asking for more and more and more.

If you're used to having everything hotkeyed, I suggest looking at the guide to binds (a bind is a hotkey).

The format is: /bind <key> <command>
or /bind <key> "<command with spaces>$$<another command>$$<and so on>"

They're limited to a 255 character limit iirc, and they parse left to right, which means that the way the game works (since it does the whole bind at once) the last power listed in a bind is most likely going to be the only one to go off (there are a couple of tricks to get around this).

I tend to just use the standard 1-0, alt1-alt0, ctrl1-ctrl0 for power activations and bind anything that needs a mouse click to target to shift+lbutton, alt+lbutton, or ctrl+lbutton (so all I need to do is hold the appropriate key and click where I want to target), but I have a few characters that have other binds for powers.

Not everything you can do with keymapping is listed in the options menu.

Edit: link to the basic guide for binds.

That Curveball guide is pretty good and is what I was going to link.
Siolfir got 'er done tho.

I usually create my own .txt files and then run from that.
The hotkeying (or keybinding) is very customizable and fairly easy to achieve.

And with all the emotes in this game, it's pretty easy to get some hilarious bind string going.

Welcome to Infinity!

Keybinds are useful. Normally, some of the F keys are set to trigger inspiration usage. I have them set up for keybinds: F1-12, alt F1-12 and ctrl F1-12 gives me 36 binds there and I have an overlay on my keyboard listing them all.

Any power that I have on multiple characters gets a bind. I have T for Teleport and alt-T for Recall Friend. Every character has that bind, but if they don't have the power, nothing happens if I hit it by accident.

I have a primary bind file (binds_main.txt) and additional ones for characters that have personal binds (binds_ironblade.txt).

Here's where it gets good - in my main bind file, hitting ctrl-F12 loads the main bind file. That way, if I want to add a new bind to all characters, I just have to edit the text file then hit ctrl-F12 while I'm on that character and it reloads the binds. I also have binds set up to save my chat settings and to load them.

On my numeric keypad, I can load 40+ binds of explanatory text for various SG or team events. I have multiple sets of these (one for Rikti War Zone raids, one for the Abandoned Sewers Trial). One of the binds in each of these sets will erase all the other binds by loading a custom bindfile that sets all the keypad buttons to NOP (short for Null Operation - command used to unbind a key).

Binds are cool, mkay.

Here's the link to User Interface customization on ParagonWiki.

Also, to save your customizations, go Menu >> Options >> General tab - way down at the bottom are controls for saving your chat and window settings. That's in addition to the "Save Options" button at the bottom of the dialog itself.

Go read the thread Synapse started in the Badges and Gladiators section.

It's not quite as long as the "rawr, I am Posi hear me roar" thread about MA farming/PLing, but it's going after a new group (badgers) instead of the usual suspects (PvP, farming, PLing) and was put in a section that most people miss - I only caught it by looking through the dev digest.

I read the first few pages, then skipped to the last two after a couple of hours actually playing.

Yeah I'm done badging. If you have 700 badges you're a worse farmer than a massive PL'r. Too many n00bs who need to lrn2ply anyways. This server and game in general has really gone to hell.

Not all that sarcastic, but feel better now Devote?

If you want to be flamed, try out "Suggestions & Ideas." Suggest, hmmm, world PvP. You'll get your socks flamed right off.

But the server forums tend to be friendly, at least until you give people a reason not to be.

lol, no doubt. i just always enjoyed the WOW flamers talking about how uber they were. its a frigging game
