Fire/ kin, storm, or dark for first time corrupter?

Hello, I am fairly new to this game and still testing out most of the classes to figure out which one fits me best. Currently I am looking for a PvE centric build, but one that will also fair well in PvP when I get bored. From what I've heard about PvP I am sort of guessing a Pve Centric/keep me alive in zone PvP build is probally impossible to find, but it doesn't hurt to ask I guess. Any suggestions on which one between fire/kin, storm, or dark to take?

Also another thing, from what I've heard about Kin is that it is a group's first invite priorty, but has a steep learning curve for a rather new corrupter. Will this pose a problem for me getting in groups because I am not /kin?

I wouldn't take the general "what people want in Atlas/Mercy/Cap Au Diabloe broadcast" as an accurate representation of what makes a City of Heroes team function. I'd suggest ignoring any advice you get from Atlas Park/Mercy broadcast

Kinetics is a very fast paced set. If you like button mashing then it will be fun for you. I don't think there are any complicated concepts to Kinetics - it's just that the buttons recharge really fast and you want to keep pressing them.

Perhaps something like Thermal or Cold might be ideal secondaries for you. Both shine in PvP and teammate buff powers are very simple to understand and use. Those are both not complicated and very powerful.

You won't have trouble getting into groups because you're not a kinetic; if you have trouble getting into groups it's because of cliquish behavior or simply low population - most teams love having Corruptors along.

If you've never played Storm before, my recommendation is to go with Fire/Dark. You have a nice toolbox for solo or team play with that pairing and it picks up early in the build. Storm will work well also, but if you've never played it before you can work against yourself and annoy teammates.

I just got my first Corrupter to level 30 last night and I choose Fire/Dark. I must say I love all the AoE and how safe I am when soloing, but also that it shines when teamed. I would definitely recommend this combo to anyone.

Not sure how it would do for PvP since i avoid that most of the time.

Fire/Kin is extremely active. Strong heals, endurance drains and buffs, and damage buffs. When your pace slows the team slows down. You're pretty much the driving force that keeps the team moving 2nd from the team's brute or leader. Its a risky build to play with as you'll be drawing alot of attention to yourself from stray aggro. It does decent solo play but it shines in team play.

One thing is that teammates are going to assume they will have Speed Boost throughtout the entire duration on the team. It doesn't last a whole lotta time so you'll be refreshing the buffs every 1m 30s between mobs and can get quite irritating if you're not used to it. I grew to hate my Fire/Kin by how overwhelming it can get sometimes when ya feel ya dont get a break especially throughout a task force. As I said before, very active build.

I never been too comfortable with it in PvP but I've seen Elec/Kins do rather well in a pvp environment.

I just made a elec/therm most to try it out. I might be going with this.

I just hit 50 on my elec/kin & I love it. It is a sapping machine!
I went with Mu mastery for Power Sink. I here that /thermal is better for sapping, I dont see how it could be though. In any case I so enjoy the siphon speed & siphon power buff/debuffs. The one down side is it takes a while to kill but, its worth it to me to watch that /regen scrapper that everybody & there brother rolls on blue side run for there base or start poppin blue inspies like Tic Tacs....

People like Thermal due to the relatively long-duration (40s) "no end for j00" of Heat Exhaustion.

IMO Kinetics is better for draining their end, but Thermal is better for keeping them out of end - which is the real goal.

Fire/Dark is a cool combo. The powers look sweet, the damage is awesome, you can heal, you can rez your whole team with a wave of your fingers, you have debuffs out the yin gang, and you have a pet whose control will keep enemies even more locked down while you set them on fire. It's awesome PvE Corrupter goodness, and it's relatively easy to play.

Fire/Kin has INSANE damage and unlimited endurance, but it doesn't have a whole lot of protection.

Fire/Storm will eat up your endurance like crazy, but it certainly has a lot going for it when played by an expert herder. Good damage and damage mitigation.

I also saw that you mentioned you're enjoying your Elec/Therm. I'm not a big fan of elec, personally, but I've heard good things about that build in PvP.

Too many alts to list.
