Farming with MM
You can but it's slow. Brutes and Doms (or a properly-built Fire/Kin Corruptor) are better.
"One day we all may see each other elsewhere. In Tyria, in Azeroth. We may pass each other and never know it. And that's sad. But if nothing else, we'll still have Rhode Island."
The problem is that MMs are basically a DoT class... lots of little attacks that add up to good damage over time. Farming is all about burst AoE damage... dump a few attacks on a spawn, with enough recharge to have them back up and ready by the time you hit the next spawn. Some Masterminds do enough damage to farm, but it's spread out over 20 seconds instead of concentrated into two or three attacks. That means 2-3 times as long per spawn, which cuts down your income a lot...
A good AoE MM does farm better than most ATs, but they can't match a true AoE monster like certain Brutes, Doms, and Kins. On the other hand, if you are looking for a cheap (no +recharge or uniques) farmer a MM can do the job safely... you just can't boost them to the same level as a SS/Fire or a Fire/Psi once you dump a bunch of inf into the build.
Cascade, level 50 Blaster (NRG/NRG since before it was cool)
Mechmeister, level 50 Bots / Traps MM
FAR too many non-50 alts to name

The Scavenger Hunt: 187076
The Instant Lair Delivery Service: 206636
mm primaries with a lot of aoe's farm just fine. i would actually rate thugs ahead of bots in this respect due to not having so much aoe knockback to interfere with cone placement, and faster recharging cones
however this does require you take a patron immob and have a secondary that can go further to keep spawns in check.
to bottom line it: during the meow weekend, my thugs/traps cleared an 8 man relentless rikti comm officer map - solo - in 13 minutes flat.
My MM can make 2 million in raw inf in 10 minutes.
Yes, MMs can farm.
I'm thinking of making a ninja/storm for farming... I'm imagining group tp with all my toggles on... Freezing rain... Taunting... And high defence and -tohit debuffs. Has anyone tried this?
JM is pretty much 100% correct on all accounts, including thugs being the top tier farming build due to bots annoying kb.

AE doesn't count.
My first toon was bots/traps and I used him to farm for awhile.. then I made my SS/FA brute and found out just how slow MMs are at farming.

it's funny how people forget to add that it takes substantially more infamy to make that ss/fa SURVIVE the same things a thugs or bots mm is farming.
so farm with your mm to make the better farmer

Or go visit the market forums and learn to print money while you sleep.
I decided to get some #s on my SINGLE ORIGIN'd Super Strength Fire Brute.
I was doing solo... with no other players on the map... 150,000 Infamy per minute according to Herostats. Converting that to the normal standard I use (which is two 50s on the map) you multiply by 1.25 (bonus for 2 players on team) 187,500 then divide by two (each of two players gets half) 93,750.
So my Single Origin'd SS/Fire got 93,750 Infamy per minute on my standard measure thinger.
TopDoc's purpled Fire/Psy Dominator gets 117,000 Infamy per minute on 6-man Liberate.
My SS/Fire in his alternate purpled build gets 115,000 Infamy per minute.
If you want to compare your Mastermind to these numbers simply fill any map to any number of players you choose. Then run hero stats. If there are two 50s on the map and only 1 is fighting the #s are a straight comparison. If you are soloing (like I was in my example) multiply by 1.25 then divide by 2.
Go find out if your Mastermind compares to a Brute. If you would like to verify my #s send me a tell or a PM @Smurphy - I would be glad to show you that I am not making these numbers up.
again with your garbage
the op didnt ask which was better - mm, brute or dom.
here. here's the OP. read it again

and mm's can farm JUST FINE. i made my billions of infamy on a damned MM because clearly they just cant farm at all. ever.'
oh btw please take your ss/fire brute and farm a map with nothing but super arachnoid bosses or lt's. let us know how that goes.
as for the herostats thing - on a mission map set for only one person, and me solo, with only freakshow lt's i do 35,000 per minute. it's a little higher when i use my arachnoid lt's, but most at's cant survive it because jus tone can shut down all regen and recharge and they do pretty good dmg from range. mm pets arent affected by -recharge (side affect of them no longer being affected by +recharge)

That's fine, but my MM makes more than 200,000 infamy per minute. The same farm done by a well specced brute makes about a third of that. Is the mission specifically chosen to fit my MM's strengths and weaknesses? Yes, it is, but I don't find that to be relevant. You can pick something similar for your brute if you like and see if you can get the same numbers.
The problem is, no brutes have access to anything that comes close to Incendiary Swarm Missiles + AoE Immob and/or stacked slows. You just can't match the damage output, and with bodyguard mode on and used properly, a MM can tank much more damage than a brute.
Brutes are just much easier to play. I'll grant that brutes are the best farm characters for beginners.
200m is hot. better than i can do. then again, i dont farm with my mm's on 8 mans, only when i three box.
i always invariably get that one moronic /storm or /ff that spreads the spawns out before i've had the chance to root anything when i do 8 mans, or that corruptor who starts with rain of fire.
Bot/Storm is great for it, getting 20+ bosses stuck in a corner with freezing rain's -resist, hurricane to keep them there, and the stacked fire patches is pretty insane.
(the assault bot's incendiary missiles create a fire patch per enemy hit, so the more enemies there are the more each one takes, making it easier to kill 10 things than a few sometimes, with each boss is being hit with several fire patches at a time)
In order to get them all grouped up I usually have them all hop a fence so the automatically put themselves into a corner.
Can you farm with a master mind? I would imagine it would be a good farm AT but no one ive seen uses them for farms.
