Verifying healing badges criteria

I remember back in the day that Healing farms were all the rage, particularly for characters that did not have any powers to heal others. Now, due to some changes in how to earn them, they are pretty much obsolete.

I am asking to know the exact details on earning the healing badges. From what I know so far, one cannot get progress toward these badges for healing done by pets or gladiators (such as MM henchmen and the old Longbow Wardens).

One can only get credit for healing if one actually heals damage received, rather than just spamming Healing Aura on a sedentary team. Example: Scrapper Joe has 200 HP, and he takes 30 points of damage. Empath Amy heals him for 50 points, but is only credited with 30 points of healing toward her badge (the other 20 points are lost).

Do +HP buffs matter on healing badges as it does with damage badges?

Any comments would be much appreciated. Thanks.

This is incorrect.

Apparently there is a reported bug where the amount healed in this case is counted for the damage taken on the target. But to answer your question, no a targets +HP doesn't matter to the healer.

Alright, so judging from these responses, pets and the like can indeed help a character toward his or her healing badge with its own healing powers, but there must be damage to be healed in the first place, and cannot just be spammed. Okay, this makes sense now. Thanks!

The arena gladiator using the longbow warden 2 does still work btw and with no damage taken.

I've been frustrated about this ever since they added the last three healing badges. My badge collecting toon happens to be a four-year-old emp def. I've probably logged over a thousand hours with him and he's been sitting between 8 and 9 million points for the last year. I see 2 possible solutions to this problem:

1. Allow heals done in AE missions to count. Of course, this will not happen; as the devs don't want to increase the motivation for playing AEs

2. Increase the amount of heal points that you are given credit for while exemplared. This would encourage high level emp defs to help out the lowbie level teams that need them. If I could make significant progress toward my healing badges while on a Positron TF, I'd probably do about 2 a month.

The fact that even emp defs have a relatively hard time earning the top epic level heal badges only goes to show that the whole concept behind earning credit for "damage healed" was more or less broken from the beginning. This is exactly why Posi finally decided to reduce the Empath badge down from its ridiculously high original requirement of 1 billion points healed.

At this point I'm not sure if any further changes are ever going to happen to these badges. Even at 100 million points healed Empath still needs to be farmed for anyone to have a realistic chance for it. Unfortunately I think the way these badges are now will be the way they will remain for the rest of the game.

actually, I recall that the point of only tracking actual damage healed was to prevent a desire to spam a heal in a populated area just to accumulate credit.
you know what I mean... they didn't want people setting something on autofire and going AFK until the badge earned... waitaminute...

I think the Devs don't really mind farming as long as it's not too "easy" to accomplish.

I just got the empath badge and you are 100% right you do have to farm it if you are not a healer and even still...
To be honest it sort of bugs me when people look at farming as a bad thing... I mean if you have certain goals and you are able to get them by being efficient (farming) then so what...

I took my second build and made it total regen (low level io sets ftw) pretty much nothing but for getting the damage badges... got a carnie mish set on invincy I get a strongman minion beating the crap out of me with a malet... at the rate it's going it will take around 28 days of 6 hours sessions to get the last 3 damage badges... good thing I'll get the badges... bad thing i'll have a really flat head in the process

I've gotten to the point where I don't care if others farm to get the epic badges, as long as I can get them through regular play.

I cannot though. I cannot see a way to get either the epic healing or epic damage badges through regular play.

Farming should NOT be the only option to get the badges. If lowering the requirements to let them be earned through regular play makes it "too easy" to farm, so what?
