I was under the impression that you can lose HoF status, but still keep the badge. Not sure if it is working as intended or not.

I'm guessing that someone used an exploit to bump up their arc, then the GM's removed if because it was haxxored.

The only HoF arc I know of personally got them all honestly. I know you can lose HoF status if your rating drops, but I haven't seen any arcs jump as far as the number of votes go in any unnatural way. Any screenshots or other proof?

If you're referring to the arc that I think you are, it has been up and down to HoF status this week. It gets HoF, then almost immediately gets shilled out. The arc hasn't disappeared. When it drops to 4 stars status (less than 4.5, rounded down), it gets bumped to page 150-200 or thereabouts.
I guess some people just like to downvote success. What's it called?

It was there a few hours ago. I remember seeing it when I forced myself to take a break and switch to my Dark/Traps corruptor. It was either on one of the first three pages with the default search settings, or I saw it when I did a search for short and medium arcs.

By default search doesn't show you arcs you've rated already. So you may want to take that out. That's how I "lost" it.

Footsteps got 1000+ votes before HoF, and has had it for a bit, I don't think that is the mysterious rapic accelerating arc that they are refering to.
It's currently Hall of Fame [doh, now it isn't, just fell off again :P] , Arc Id 2291. As others mentioned, make sure you have I haven't voted on turned off

Yep, that's probably the issue. On Browse and Play, click Search Options, click the radio button for I haven't voted on, and click Search again.
