Pvp on this game.

Old pvp was a joke. It was great for stalkers and the veats, and everyone else hated having toggles dropped. The old darth noobians and cheez sithians liked it...since their precious star wars galaxies got destroyed. Also the old 40' range on impale was gay. Mez length was real gay. Unresistable assassin strike was gay. Blasters unresistable damage was gay. All defense sets were useless.

Yeah, all that stuff was very homosexual. ...
GDIAF.

No, it was happy...
You guys are probably discuraging this guy from the game from forum PvP
Take everything people say with a grain of salt and find out for yourself. Plus, there is way more things to do in this game besides PvP. Just a trial account and only getting to level 14 wont show you that.

Seems to me like he already left.
His last post said something to the effect of "endgame" with PvP involved.

Forum PVP FTW...
How ever... I still had the best answer to his post... :P
but as far as the comment about 80% of hero ATs having an advantage or what ever.... Thats pretty much garbage... If you take 5 seconds to look at the differences between vil ATs and heroes.... (this comment is mainly in regards to zone pvp) you will see. In most cases Vills recive there AT key note powers at a much earlier stage then hero ATs. BB is the best example of this. I personally think WB is the best happy medium. But anyways a lot of the zone pvp gives an advantage to Vill ATs not heroes. But this is also discrediting skill level. But anyways, CoX PVP system has a lot of holes in it. But you all should not try to discourage this guy from trying it. He still might find it enjoyable. Even tho the majority of the PVPers mainly coming from zone arent really that good or dont have a real understanding of the system. The last thing this game needs is less players. All of you who are bi**hing about the system but are still playing know damn well you like it. Its that or you dont have enough ballz to hit the cancel subscription button. So quit your B*tc*ing
lol
Anyways if you cant get in to PVP in this game theres more then an abundance of B.A forum PVP you can get in to.
The PvP changes in general combined with some of the PPP changes tended to shift the balance of power to villains, I think. Due to the villain ATs' design and generally higher damage output compared to their hero counterparts they seem to have the advantage right now, though a good Scrapper is still hard to top.

2. lolsiren's. i like my epics and i dont get emo over other people using theirs, tyvm.
[/ QUOTE ] Is it emo to like Siren's over whichever? Its a zone dude. Nothing wrong about epics, just nothing wrong about SC as well... "tyvm".

if zone pvp was about fotms, you wouldn't see the 20 retarded tanks running around RV getting destroyed by corruptor duos just because they refuse to roll blasters.
[/ QUOTE ]
The guys not rolling the "right choice" get destroyed. Doesnt that only confirms that it IS about fotm?
In the end of the day, I guess everyone agrees that PvP experience in this game could be like A LOT more interesting than it is, thats all, and thats what I often rant about. In my opinion the way PvP seems to focus on some "match-ups" of ATs (to combat X use Y) and favoring certain Powersets over the other majority of any given AT, is a downer. Thats what I meant to emphasize on the other's guy post.
- Dual Blades Stalker Guide
- Mastermind guide to Pain Domination
To say that certain ATs don't dominate - no one noticed that a pvp event on virtue was like 12 widows/forts, two stalkers, two brutes and one corrupter? And the finals were all widows or forts but the brute. Gods help you if you're a dominator in pvp too. I roll an AT because I like it. Sure, I will have weaknesses to some and pluses against other, but I shouldn't be totally hosed over and one AT should not totally hose over others.
Exactly.
To illustrate: City of Heroes PVP should be more like this video; not so much the subtitles.

Although I love the subtitles. Manticore, keepin' shootin' that air you. And I noticed something else, few hero ATs besides scrappers really show up well in pvp. At least, in zone. Defenders and debuffers do fairly alright and one on one a smart tank might knock you over if and IF they have the right power set. That's kinda sad too.
*Because no one should be forced to spend like 6 levels punching snakes.

80% of them are hero side.
[/ QUOTE ]
when played by capable hands (rare), have a huge advantage over heroes.
[/ QUOTE ]
lol this kind of arguments always make me laugh to death.
what do you mean?
yeah it's well known that blue side is loaded with pvp genius that get a 8 hours training a day, while villain only got noob.
even if it was the case, the fact that all the so called genius are on the same side talk for itself no?
you implie that pvp is a question of skills ^^
how comes that villains should need some kind of "euro training" to be performant when a hero only have to click his power?
go to recluse. (iknow lolzonepvp, blahblah)
if villains are pwning heroes, it means that they are in a 8vs 1 configuration (and it's not even sure 100% of the time that they will be "safe")
most of the time are heroes are pwning villains just cause there are 2 io'ed ice/em tank or an empath + a psi/em blaster with a regen as a back up.

I can't pvp on a villain.

I think we found your problem, user error.
Duel me.
I will work on my sig pic more when I have time.
Well if you're starting out in pvp, mange your expectations:
1. As a general rule your powers will act differently in PvP than pve. Some powers that are "worthless" pve are "teh uber" in PvP. Examples, flurry is still a better melee attack for a blaster than bonesmasher, web grenade is arguably the strongest control power available.
2. Lookup Arcanaville's post on Diminishing Returns math. The math is hard, though Arcanaville puts it in the clearest terms available. If you start putting together a team based on team buffs, and/or invest heavily in set bonuses in IOs, you need to understand what those things will do in PvP beforehand.
too long didn't read. While having lots of buffs or set bonuses in pve is awesome sauce, many, many times even super great buffs in pve like fortitude or vengeance will add very little.
3. The combat logs are stilled bugged so they will not show everything that they should. So time to time you'll be hit with things and have no idea from the log what it was.
General advice, build for damage, seek -resistance debuffs, keep your powder dry and your head down.
Also do not be surprised if many of your opponents have phase shift, hibernate, personal forcefield or some combination thereof.
Peace
