for those who didn't read...
basically someone made snarky comments about one of my stories. I called them immature and they escalated into personal attacks. So I reported them. The mods at DA replied that not only was it NOT worth their time, but that my story was in violation of policy and therefore... removed. Then they went through and decimated my gallery.
I removed the rest of my work myself. I refuse show anything of mine at site where we are not only told we should just lie down and take abuse, but that their rules of posting are ambigious and unevenly enforced.
BTW... the person who picked a fight with me has a wonderful pic in her gallery of a man eating a human baby. And this is considered more acceptable to DA than my erotic prose.

I've heard alot of things like this regarding DA lately and it concerns me. Is there a good alternative art site to go to in this case?

Well, wolf-whatever that's posting there (a) needs to grow up and (b) seems to be going well over the line into harrassment... and thus now has a report about them over at DA's help desk as well.
Didn't comment, as I hadn't read anything that was taken down, so I'd be arguing over suppositions. Still, yeah, DA's not getting a great rep.

Really sorry to hear bout that Gamma. Was wondering why something got taken down and dang glad I didn't front the money to subscribe. Guess I'll start looking for another page or perhaps the Devs or Cryptic itself could front a space for art related to CoX. Yes I know the fan art is there but nothing new has been posted that in years it seems like. I wonder if they could refresh that so that the people here who draw for this game could have a defense for they're art of the game so they would go through what you did.
Rather than using dA, you could always make your own site where you can post whatever you want. Often the cost of your own domain is less than at dA, without the pesky rules and arbitrary rulings.

Indeed.. DA was free. It's hard to beat that price. And I used to have my own site on freeservers until something very similar to this happened back then. My entire site was deleted because someone complained about the content.
I have a hard enough time justifying paying for my CoH account. No way am I paying for a web host.
Yeah exactly. Unless you have your actual own server unit? At any time, if anyone complains about something and it turns out to offend the hosts, they can and will remove things without warning, and that's in pretty much every online hosts' eula.
I got smacked by DA last year, when I posted non-offensive stuff but some dickwad happened to think it was "infringement" that I was using Garry's mod to make half-life comics... never mind that there are 500 more people every day doing the same thing with not just hl, but portal, tf2, l4d, etc everything that uses the Source engine. But one jerk decided MINE was ... well, "stealing" ... so I put them back up, and da banned me for a week.
I'm still trying to get an official word from Valve on the matter so I can rub DA's copyright "investigator's" (who apparently doesn't know how to read, let alone search even on their own site) nose in it.

It just really depends on whether there's a jerk with a vendetta or just a bad attitude.
And no, photobucket also has a fairly strict eula, however I've never particularly heard of anyone getting their paid account wiped there. If you aren't hosting your OWN materials on your OWN hardware, any nub with an attitude can come along and claim they're offended. By law, the server HAS to comply by looking it over, and just like in the game here, if the person looking it over is ALSO offended, out it goes, no if's ands or butts...

It seems all the sites now a day are geting realy strict with their ULA. Youtube is now muting music videos with copyright music (WTF?)

I guess for me its the inconsistency or just blatant pettiness I've been hearing about. Sounds like a pretty ripe place to get attacked and then not have a way to defend yourself.
It IS really nice in a lot of ways. I'm just trying to decide if those things outweigh their administrative actions which sound pretty random.

Photobucket (I think it was) stopped me uploading this video because it picked up the music that was in it and said it was a copyright infringement. Not removed... actually stopped the upload in process.
that doesn't seem posible. how do you know whats in a file being uploaded? I'm more keen to think it was a bug
