Help: martial arts themed look
>.> Gimme about... 20 minutes, and Server providing, I can bust out the look I had for Nanao's 'Kensai' costume that, I think, turned out fairly well.
It does include a facemask, but that's totally optional, and only included in because I'm a scarf [censored].
Edit:
It's one of the generic martial arts robes, with one of the longer 'shorts' options under Skirts/Shorts, the Dragon bracers, and Sinister Boots (sans plate). Before I had the Sinister ones, I was using the Motorcycle boots for more of a shin-guard feel to the look.
That's about as 'classic' martial arts master as I could make things, sadly. >.> Other suggestions I have would be using some of the Tucked In pants styles and the boot of your choice for the leg areas, but the top is really hard to do properly. There just aren't that many jackets or shirts that really work, though Tops with Skin -> Tanker or Tee work fairly well for a 'civvie' look in a pinch.
Sorry about the crappy lighting, too. Had I been thinking, I'd have ducked into my Base before taking the shots. >> But I'm running a little slow today. D:

Bah. Why sprint? I have Super Jump.
You not real Kung-Fu Mastah without Cloud Walking Prana.
You Keanu Reaves!
Dang MikoReimu! You make it look easy. I plan to just flat out steal that. Awesome!
I am not sure on the color scheme I want yet - I'll spin the color wheel until something clicks. I think a Green primary is cool but may have been done a bit (green and martial arts seem to just go together for some reason). Black or white may be out for the same reason - too comon.
Any thoughts on different primary / secondary colors to try out?

Rule #1: Have Fun!
I like the wraps for hands and feet myself. As far as colors go, I usually prefer black as a primary with a brighter secondary color like gold or white. Then again, I'm more of a traditionalist myself when it comes to martial arts attire.
:3 Every now and then, I come up with an awesome idea.
The fun part about the longer martial arts robes, is that there are so many different patterns (that I never noticed until I bumped my graphics up a bit).
Other things you could consider for gloves are Smooth/Bare -> Wrapped (Which is a glove option I just love) or Sinister (sans pad) for a belted/plated look. >.>
For colors... that can really vary wildly. I went with mostly blues on Nanao, except for her 'The Amazing Mini-Scrapper Nanao-chan' costume (that she personally hates - it's a temporal disruption brought on by going through an Ouroboros or Portal Corps. portal) I went with a more 'classic' White/Red that I liked.
Really, though, you can mix any two colors (usually one 'bright' and one 'dark') and pull off a convincing look. The Tsoo are a really great examples of colors you can mix and match with, as are some of the MA-using or Wuxia inspired Generic Heroes and Villains that show up in Mayhems. >.>
My first scrapper is an MA/Regen. This was her first costume.

Biggest Troll on the forums? I'll give you a hint:
I'd suggest you go back to the basics, nu?
Tie the hair back in a ponytail, or use one of the braids options.
Robes - One of the short Martial Arts robes - white with dark colored trim. Matching Tied or Folded Cloth belt or the Butterfly Cloth Belt.
For the bottoms, if you don't have the Samurai pieces yet, go with Pants, and again, go with something white with matching trim as before. Baggy is good, definitely not tight.
Hands and feet as Bayani said, should be wrapped if you can use them.
I've a 'kickboxer' look on my MA Stalker that uses the cropped T-shirt with no sleeves, ponytail, wrapped hands and feet, and the first Shorts option under Skirts / Shorts, with a folded cloth belt, all done in white with black trim (except the wraps, those are white).

Here I tried to put something together .... went for interesting but basic ...

I've been struggling with making a female martial arts themed character. Anyone have any inspiration or ideas?
Most of my costumes are either the full spandex or a more jeans and leather jacket look. I am at a loss for an Anime or movie Kung Fu kind of look. I checked out the CoH default 'Ninja' and others but they just did not sit quite right.
In general I think I want her to look natural - face shown, non-spandex clothing. Sort of a kung fu master. I am not a big fan of the CoH robes but maybe I am just not doing it right.
Any links to some art or costume ideas would be greatly appreciated.
TYVM!
