Live Feedback: Issue 13 : Leveling Pact
This like the sidekick system before it is a brilliant idea. The leveling pact system really helps form tighter bonds between players and helps motivates friends to play their characters regardless of whether their playtime works out with their friend(s) or not on any given day. I have used it and am extremely fond of the system.
I do have one concern though the level 5 restriction is holding this feature back from being everything it could/should be. It could and would be employed by many more people helping to build stronger player-to-player bonds and keep more people playing this game if this restriction were not holding it back.
I understand the fear of power-leveling using this system, but that is easily gotten around. Why not let any 2 players within 5 levels of each other sign a pact. This would let a whole host of subscribers be able to take advantage of this system. If the developers feel that even 5 levels is too much of disparity in level then at the very least allow players of the same level to enter into a new pact.
Most of us who have tried this feature love it. I would only like to use it more. How many characters have we tried and fallen out of love with after level 5? We should be able to start a new pact with a new character that we enjoy more after level 5. Just restrict the level disparity between characters entering into a pact. There is no reason to restrict pacts themselves to characters of level 5 or less....my 2 cents.

I have to agree; I'd get a lot more use out of this feature were it the case. And if nothing else, it would help out those people who had their pact broken by bugs.
@Mindshadow
Like most posters, am hoping for allowing higher level chars to pact, but anyway..
Just like to give a huge THANKS for allowing xp awarded far more frequently! This was a massive improvement!
Objective feedback: A pair of level pacted Kheldians, one PB and one WS. The WS played on a small group for a couple of hours (2) without the PB, then they played together for a couple of hours, then the PB played on a moderate group (5) of higher leveled heroes for a couple of hours.
During the time solo, both experienced what was approximately 1/4 to 1/3 of the XP of those with whom they were playing. I.e., the PB as the lowest level character in a group of 5 (total) running a story arc. Everyone else was level 31 and leveled during the missions at some point, at least one of whom needed 8+ bubbles to level. The 30 PB, on the other hand, barely got 2.5 bubbles of XP during the same set of mission and while being a lower level to everyone else in group.
Subjective feedback: When playing the level pacted Kheldians together, it still seems like their leveling is slower than any teammates of the same or similar level not on a pact. Playing on a group of four, two non-pacted and the two pacted, the non pacted leveled twice (a few bubbles for one level, all 10 for the next level) while the Kheldians managed to get 6-7 bubbles. Which is half XP-- except they were on together, so it should have been 1/2+1/2=100% XP and the same amount of XP as those who leveled.
Comments: I love the idea of the Leveling Pact. My west coast buddy and I (east coast) want to use it to keep a couple of characters synced up for those times when we can play together. However, the XP seems to be working against us regardless, and doesn't seem worth it.
We second allowing Level Pacts to be formed outside of the current level restrictions. We also second allowing level pacts to be made between more than two characters -- once, of course, the seeming XP issue we're experiencing is resolved. Just have the XP divided by the number of players involved in the pact (I would argue for a max of 4, personally).
I just got a pact to 50. It is still trying to assign XP+inf instead of all inf:
You gain 969 experience for your leveling pact. You will not receive experience until your leveling pact catches up with you.
You gain 291 influence.
<SG> gains 9 prestige.
Both Pact members have done all the level ups to L50.
Is there any point to still keeping the pact? future developments for pact members etc?
Upsen.
I would use this feature like crazy if it was adapted to let higher levels use it. If you're worried about abuse it seems pretty simple to me to adapt something in the formula when it transfers the EXP to knock it down by a percent for the level gap. I'm guessing the EXP is autogenerated off a curve anyway.
In its current form with the level restriction I don't think I will ever get the opportunity to use it.
I haven't had any problems with the dissemination of xp with pacted characters but I haven't really been looking that close. My concern is with the level cap. I understand the implementation some form of restriction so that people can not easily take advantage of the leveling pact. What I do not understand is the level cap approach to the ordeal. I think the system would be better implemented if a leveling pact could only be changed or created once a month (or 3 for extra security) and the characters must be proximal to each others xp (as an example, no more then 2500 xp difference). This would allow people of any level to take advantage of the leveling pact for the sole purpose of keeping characters in "sync" with xp. Wouldn't that make more sense then a very low leve cap?
Okay I have a question. Me and my friend had level pacts with some of our characters when the issue was implemented. Then, we took a break and the game time expired. We come back a month later, and our level pacts are gone. Is this a bug or a stupid way that we have to keep playing just to keep our level pacts intact.
It's a bug. Contact support via petition and they'll almost guaranteed reinstate the pact.

I have one level pact.
Now that the bug with xp gain has been fixed, and xp gain is as normal (being split, received with each mob defeated, mission completed), I am quite happy with level pacts.
I will be using this again when I make my VEAT.
