Possible yes, but you do run the risk of being genericed since as I understand it most 40k characters are copyrighted or some such.

well technically (AFAIK) as long as you dont use the phrase "Space marine" in character creation then you should be fine........and you usually wont get genericed unless someone reports you for it. Also dont use any of the copyrighted names and you should be good. If you are talking about the RP forums and not in game then yeah I am pretty sure you can.....if you cant and I'm wrong then you probably would get a warning from a mod and then a modsmack.
For the RP forums I cant see why they would say no though....one person I can think of uses a (again AFAIK) trademarked substance with one of his characters, and there hasnt been any whistle blowing or modsmacking.

I'd suggest a Broadsword scrapper (Power sword) or a Super Strength or Battle Axe tanker (Power fist or power axe) rather than an AR/dev. The build you're thinking of would fit an Imperial Guardsman a lot better than a Space Marine.
Space Marines have always struck me more as a 'Wade into battle and slay in the Emperor's name' type than a 'Blow the crud out of the enemy with guns and tricks' type.
And said above advice is good; just avoid naming your guy "Crimson Fist Marine" or "Space Marine" and you should be fine. You can put the Space Marine stuff in your little bio box and it'll all be good, I think.

There was a guy running around Triumph for a while with Captain or Brother-Captain something. Whatever the name, he made his Space Marine an AR/Energy Blaster, presumably to simulate bolter and power fist. Made his own SG, too: Adeptus Astartes.

Being a Warhammer 40k fan, would it be possible to RP a space marine of the crimson fists chapter? I was thinking an Assault Rifle/Devices blaster for the archetype.
