First, thanks very much for playing and reviewing one of my arcs.
Quote:Intended as window dressing, but I never got them to work quite right. The mobs are supposed to be involved in their own thing already, and you (if you move fast enough) show up in time to help the Longbow guys. More than not, the player shows up once one side or the other has won, which may be what you saw. The battles are disposable, and may be disposed of given your feedback. Some battles going on in the hangar, between Arachnos and Longbow. Battles have never actually started when I jumped into them -- they're always going right when they're triggered. So having the people involved in the battle assume that I'm there and have done something doesn't make much sense.
Quote:Anyway, there are two identical computer systems with a title in all lowercase - when you click a glowie its name shows up in your target window, so it's important to give it a name that makes sense - and they both drop the same clue Aeon gave me: where the show is edited.
Quote:And now we know where the show is taped... though, uh, didn't Arbiter Sands also tell us that in the first mission?
Quote:Man, this took a couple reads, just because it's putting in so much detail into one paragraph. I don't think you even need to talk about the villain cleaning out the base, it doesn't seem relevant.
What's relevant is that Arachnoids webbed up the sub bay that my contact was planning to use to get in there.
She doesn't explicitly say that, but she probably should.
Quote:Whatever level lock was supposed to be here didn't happen, though. Just as well, given the giant regen on Arachnoids.
Quote:We've done what no hero has ever done, exit text? Oh, I don't think so. Let me introduce you to my buddy, Blue Steel.
Still, joining the vaunted ranks of badasses alongside him isn't a bad prize.
Quote:Overall - *****. An arc in need of a quick edit in light of the new capabilities of the game, but even if it's wanting for some technical revisions, it's still a lot of fun to read and play.
Most, if not all of the glowies were placed so players could work on their AE count badges while enjoying the story. This, too, has changed (grumble grumble yes I'm still bitter about that grumble), so I'm sure I can safely remove the ones redundant to the story. Back to the editor!
Thanks again for playing my arc and taking the time to write detailed feedback.

Speaking of pantless...

Pantless in NYC? Isn't Sun in NYC? A coincidence?

HUB is running a series of Master attempts. So far, there've been several MITFs (almost always successful), a few MSTFs (slightly less successful), one MBSF (failed), and no MLRSFs or MKHAAAAAANN!!TFs yet. The MBSF will probably be our next attempt; TF nights are Tuesdays and Thursdays starting at 9PM EST. If you're already a member, you know how to sign up. If not, shoot me a tell here or in game, and I'll see if I can hook you up.

HUB did a Master's run last night. Things went smoothly until the nigh-infinite ambushes began. Those seem to be the sticking point to a successful completion. Has anyone won the MBSF yet? How was the stream of Nazis dealt with?

October the 22nd works for me, again depending on the time. 12AM is in what time zone? And my simple mind keeps confusing AM, PM, noon, and midnight. Is 12AM midnight or noon?

I'm on day 3 of a 14-day trial key. There's a lot I like, and a lot that I don't, though I'm still trying to figure out if those things I don't like are such because they really do suck, or I just don't know how to do what I want. I'm also working to decide if the things I like are really that cool, or I like them just because they're new and shiny.
One thing that isn't working right, and I discovered to my chagrin, is the Threat system. We manage aggro in CoH with dedicated powers (Taunt, Placate), Gauntlet (if you're desperate), or attacks slotted for Taunt (if you're a Brute). In CO, you generate threat through any attack, and it's effectiveness is measured through the Presence stat. Boosting Presence takes away from points that could be better spent on awesomeness. What's more, the whole Threat system is still not working right; the devs have said so, and I found out when I repeatedly failed to capture the attention of foes despite having spent a fair amount of points on Presence and dishing out a mountain of damage.
The game is also melee-unfriendly. They say melee attacks do more damage than ranged to make up for the difficulty in getting into HTH range, but I saw ranged fighters repeatedly eat mobs that would pound my sword-swinging behemoth into the pavement. I shared my thoughts with some folks I teamed with, and they all (!) commented on how they shared my opinion and even went so far as to respec out of melee attacks altogether.
What is cool is being able to pick powers from any set. What's not cool is that there are some uber-effective powers that everyone will go for, so the variety works against the game as people find out what's optimal and build for that. Oddly, the AT and powerset framework in CoH may provide more variety of builds than the open build system of CO.
Still experimenting and exploring. There's certainly room for improvement in CoH, and CO has some nice things I wish could be copied here. More insights to come later.

I'd like a piece of that action. I offer my Rad/Rad Corrupter Inimical X for our evil scheme. Do you think the Barracuda SF will be fixed by the 14th? It's currently bugged; the MM temp power does not prevent Reichsman from using his Unbreakable power, something I learned the hard way a few weeks ago. :P
Also, I'm a little confused on the start time. If you're planning on starting at 10PM EST, and I'm in Central time, that would mean a 9PM start time for me. I have a regular commitment on Wednesday nights that may make me a few minutes late, but certainly no more than 10 mins. If that's too long to wait, then I'll wait for the next grand scheme of world destruction.

Quote:The mighty Grog is more likely to annoy than be annoyed; he's Big enough to take anything, and too Big for any silliness like editing his own actions out of consideration for others' sensibilities. For argument's sake, let's say a friend actually manages to annoy him. There's only two possible outcomes that don't involve Headsplitter: get drunk, or get the friend drunk. Grog knows from personal experience that it's much easier to get the friend drunk than to self-medicate (the last attempt resulted in a windfall for several bar owners, followed by a week of being forced to tell people, "Sorry, we're out of that. Grog drank it all."), so he would take the friend by the shoulder, squeeze until the friend yelped, then pour a liberal amount of whatever spirits he had on his person at the time down the friend's throat, repeating as often as necessary until the annoying behavior stopped.FIRST SCENARIO
Your character has a friend who does this one action that annoys them. Constantly. You've asked this friend to stop multiple times.
Finally, it happens -- the friend does it again. It's all you can take.
WHAT DO YOU DO? :3

So much fun to see everyone together and goofing off. Except Cath, that pants-wearing party pooper...
OK, even Cath.

HaH! Maybe we should get a chorus together, head to the AP AE, and sing it in-game!
"Wut? There's more stuff to do in this game than AE? Why didn't somebody say so?"

Hah!
I loved the way Captain Courageous got himself volunteered for the assignment!
The descriptions of Mr. Hutchins and Beatrice seem familiar. Not that I've seen those characters before, but the way you pictured them is similar to something else I read once, though for the life of me I can't remember what it was. Mind sharing your inspiration for them?

Thanks for kindly including my story in this issue of the Scoop. I hope you all find it as entertaining to read as it was to write.

Huzzah for Batz! Three cheers (quietly, so we don't wake up the little Batzes)! And three beers (one for each sleeping Spawn of the Batz)!

What a shame that you're leaving! I was so touched all those times I called for support and you volunteered your emp-ing services. It broke my heart that someone else responded faster. I hope you'll keep an eye out for the mighty Grog if/when you return to our friendly (and pantless) server.
