For 3D Artists

As some of you know, I also frequent an art site with a lot of superher-ish stuff, HeroMorph. A few others from here have also popped in over there a bit, as well.

You may not know that some of the folks there have been working on 3d products, and offer them through that site as dowloads.

As a Gold Member on that site, I'm eligible for a decent discount on one product. So I guess this is the crux - if any of you 3D types would be interested in this, let me know here or via PM and we can work something out, if any of the products they have there are of interest.

"City of Heroes. April 27, 2004 - August 31, 2012. Obliterated not with a weapon of mass destruction, not by an all-powerful supervillain... but by a cold-hearted and cowardly corporate suck-up."

I'll have to check out what products they offer. I'll pop over there tonight.

I'll check it out. That would seriously help me out.

Hey Dark, I checked it out and I did'nt see any hero related downloads. A few textures but that's about it. Do I need to register?

Thanks for the offer, I'll swing by and take a look.

Might be - not sure. On the side thre's a logo that says HM Downloads - on the skin I use there, it's on the left side, below the Main Menu links. There are several characters for V4, I believe, as well as some clothing and background stuff. Not a lot, like at Daz, etc, but some stuff that they developed.

Some decent tutorials around that site, too....I'm a big fan of the post work some of them do to add textures, wrinkles to clothing, etc.

Hmm, I do not see a program over there that allows me to push a button and make 3D arts "Cooler Than Schuler." Perhaps you can direct me?

If there was one, I would have used that discount for myself.

Yeah, the tutorials look pretty sweet. What would really help me though is some solid 3D figures..... or a recomendation on a good entry level program for creating figures. My Carrara experiment is proving more dfficult than I anticipated.

I looked over the book about creating Poser figures and thought it would be easier to just solve world hunger. Prolly take less time, too.

I've figured out how to model static figures and parent them to base models, but anything that's supposed to conform is out of my league. Thus, my heavy reliance on post-work.

Looks like a sweet program but many for creating characters. I may give Blender a try. I may also download the free Z-Brush and try it out though if I like it, I have no idea where I'll get the 600 bucks to buy it....

Models/figures that conform is not even in my universe. Rigging? Unless it's a 16' sailboat, forget it. I was thinking along the lines of what your talking about, static figures I can parent to the characters. I have no intention of doing animation, ever, so it's really for kicking out still images anyway. I may give Blender a try. It's free but I hear it's interface is whacky. I hated Hex with a passion and Carrara has been little more than paying for a program that from what I can tell is not really totally set up to create models. If fact at this point, I'm not sure why I have it.... Maybe Silo or Z-Brush.... though at the price of Z-Brush, it'd have to be really something to get me to buy. Honestly, I don't what's a bigger priority for me. I'd like to get out of PSP8 and into Photoshop but I really want to create basic models as well. Can't really afford both. Well I could, I would just prefer to continue to sleep in my bed and not on the couch....
