Michael Turner - Gone
I just found out as well, from J. Scott Campbell's DA site.
He was only 37.
I can't agree more, what a loss, and sooo young. It's like an industry giant has fallen from the sky, I still can't believe it. There is a similar thread in the comic subforum, but many artists are posting their sadness and condolences. J Scott Campbell, Leinil Yu, and many others who knew him briefly at conventions and over the years all talk about his talent... I bought some SM/BM issues that were reprints here about 5 years ago, and I just go over them time and again for inspiration...
This was a big shock when I read it this morning. I even posted about it on my blog.
Rest in peace, Mr. Turner.
no!!!!! Mr. Turner was one of the most awesome artists and the nicest of guys! I met him a few years ago at the SDCC and got the chance to tell him I got back into comics due to the Tomb Raider Witchblade comic I picked up while looking at Tomb Raider toys in a comic book shop. As I was telling him all that I was thinking "great I jsut went all fanboy" but Michael took it all well to heart and seemed genuinely flattered. It seriously made that convention for me.
He'll be missed. Rest in Peace Mr. Turner.

Argh, that's awful! I was just lovingly flipping through some of his Witchblade yesterday. He had a beautiful style. His work with Fathom was also jaw-dropping. And so young! Way WAY too young for us to be without him already.
He will be sorely missed.
As I said in the other thread, the good die young. RIP.

Cancer. He's been battling it since 2000.
Damn!
Sorry to see that happen to Turner. Way to young for sure.
OH man. I'm just now realizing who this guy is... and yah. Too soon, too soon!!
Rest In Peace
"City of Heroes. April 27, 2004 - August 31, 2012. Obliterated not with a weapon of mass destruction, not by an all-powerful supervillain... but by a cold-hearted and cowardly corporate suck-up."
Sadly I found out about this from David Nakayama's DA journal, but it appears that comic book artist Michael Turner passed away yesterday.
He's best known as co-creator of Witchblade and the Fathom comics. His art style is...unmistakably gorgeous. I was a big fan of both the early Witchblade and Fathom series.
A page has been torn from the comic world.
He'll be missed,
Todd
