I know I've seen this a bazillion times, yet I forget. How does one take a screenshot of their enhancement page?

I'm getting ready to shuffle some recipes between characters and want to remember my original set up. Thanks in advance.

You need a program to open the screenshot in, but the Print Screen button saves a screen into your COH folder, in it's Screenshot sub folder. All of this is in your prgrams folder on your hard drive...

BUT, your image program will only open the last print screen image you took, that is to say it will only copy 1 image currently to paste into a new file to be edited by you. So if your had hit print screen, then opened your image program, made a new file and hit Control + V to paste in the pic, it will be the image of the last time you hit print screen. Which means if you're browsing on the web and had hit print screen last, that's what you should see...

But all the COH images will be stacked and saved in that subfolder, so you can open those up with your Image Editing program, and just select the one you like to edit.

Btw IF you don't have an image editing program, you can now open all your images with Photobucket's editor, resize in there and get web code for them simultaneously... Photobucket also lets you add text, borders, make a slideshow... but some people can't open these files from work, so you might have to use Image Shack, which personally is not as user friendly but seems to be more universally unblocked.

whoa whoa whoa.

Screenshots ONLY get saved if you're in normal game mode.

Costume creation, Hero/Villain ID, enhancement screens/respecs... all of those are ONLY copied to the Windows Clipboard.

So, what you do is, start up your favorite image editing program, switch back to CoH, printscreen from the screen you wish to capture... then switch BACK to your image editor, open a new (blank) file, and PASTE.

Ta Da!

Edit to your hearts content, then save it. Or save it first, if you're paranoid.

Ok, let's try that instead. Will Windowspaint work, or do I need to use ACDsee, Fraps or something like that?

If I type /screenshot, instead of pushing the print screen button, will that give me my UI as well?

/screenshotui 1 turns the UI capture ON
/screenshotui 0 turns it off.

And yes, Windows Paint will work.... although I'd exhort you to download and use Paint.NET instead.

Windows Paint is a box of crayons.
Paint.NET is an entire box of craft supplies, including crayons.

Thanks Soul.
Last question...
Do I have to type /screenshotui 1 EVERY time I want a UI shot? Or type that once, then ui 0 when I want it off?

just type it once. the 1 or 0 is like a toggle, it flips the UI on or off regarding screenshots.

It seems to reset at some interval, though.

Yes, zoning or logging out resets the screenshotui flag.

Also for those that don't want to pay for photoshop:
https://www.photoshop.com/express/landing.html

Adobe has made Photoshop Express free which includes 2 GB storage (also free) as of March 27, 2008.

Or one could use GIMP (free, and full-featured) or Jasc Paint Shop Pro (not free but I believe cheaper than PS)

I have the following binds:

/bind [ "screenshot"
/bind ] "++screenshotui$$++disable2d"
/bind shift+] "screenshotui 1$$disable2d 0"

The effects of the binds are,

When [ is pressed, a screenshot is taken.
When ] is pressed, the "disable2d" and "screenshotui" flags are toggled. Disable2d toggles the UI within the actual game, and Screenshotui determines if the UI is hidden within your screenshots.
When Shift is held and ] is pressed, the "disable2d" and "screenshotui" flags are put in synch for use by the ] bind. When disable2d is 0, the game shows the UI. When screenshotui is 1, screenshots include the UI. This bind sets them to those values.

This lets you know whether or not your screenshots are going to have your UI in them by actually showing/not showing the UI within the game. (I stole this idea from FFXI ) But you just have to remember to press shift and ] to synch up the two toggles (only need to do this once).

The beauty of Photoshop Express online is that it is free, online (you don't have to install anything on your computer), and comes with 2 GB of storage, and will do most of what people want to do to their screenshots.

In the past I have used Paint Shop Pro, and to be honest I don't look fondly back at the experience.
