Well I asked about the badges, it seems they wouldn't consider removing it. I kinda asked if the maintenance would do it, but I don't think they will remove it.

Lighthouse:
No, it won't be removing any badges.

More or less for the maintenance they were doing, but other then that I am getting the general feeling they won't be removing them.

If there is a SG anywhere on any server that is still barely active and possesses an IoP then THIS would be the time to speak up!!!

I'll travel to any server and make a run on an IoP for the badge, if anybody can let me know they own one!

I had no idea there were a few still laying around...

[/ QUOTE ]

Check the badger section of the forums, dolly. There's an SG on Infinity that still has theirs right now, iirc.

[/ QUOTE ]

The Infinity SG in question refuses to conduct base raids for that very reason. They have been able to claim that they are one of the only remaining SGs left with an IoP and did not want to risk losing it. Guess they wont have to worry about that any more

So much for that SG keeping it a secret then.

Why do you think the Devs were motivated to try another IoP purge now?
Just something to do out of the blue perhaps?

You can run this raid without loosing the IoP. I forget what it is called kind of like a training run or something. It is possible. SG's have been doing it for some time, so that people can get the badge.

I have run over 30 raids for this badge since christmas. I have one of the last IoP's and I have been making that badge available as a christmas gift this year. The last raid is on THIS Wednesday at 9pm EST conducted by Nericus (forum name) for villains and myself for heroes. If you want the badge...I assume this is your last chance.

Holy cow... this is... unbelievable...!

My reaction is not aimed specifically at Darque_Duce, nor indeed at any one particular poster, but I am blown away by how many people rsponded to this thread with NO concern whatsoever for being hosed out of promised, advertised content, and instead most of them are worried about some ridicuous, pointless, silly, utterly inconsequential piece of game coding for a badge!

I guess when you have spent so many years being boned by game developers you just assume that's the way life is: You pays your (or your parent's) money, and you takes your abuse.

There is a word for folks like that. In fact, there are several: "Suckers," AKA "dupes", "rubes", "saps", "marks", etc.

This attitude explains why gold farming sites thrive. What they SHOULD be doing is offering code hacks to let badge-addicts collect all the shiny-pretties they think have any value whatsoever. At $10 a pop they'll be rich in a day.

Seriously, some folks need to grow up just a tad and start getting excited about things that MATTER.

Like getting their money's worth.

Wow.

SUCK-KERZZZZZZZ!!!!!!

Most people didn't apparently care about what you are referring to, Dasher.

"Hey, your new car comes with 10 free pounds of whale blubber!" (sincerest apologies to Eskimos.)

"Oops, sorry, we have no whale blubber. But, we can make your car work much better... would you like that instead?"

Yeah, I'll take that over whale blubber anyday.

Alas, that is only partially true...

Most folks who DID care about such things had already faced so many other disappointments related to game content...

(deep breath)

...Multi-issue delay/pushback of SG bases, Travel Power Suppression, Enhancement Nerfification, Rampant Power Nerfification, Sucking Up to PvP'ers, Original (also promised) Faultline Trial As Vaporware, Lack of SG Base Character and Utility, to name but a few of the more egregious abuses at our expense...

... that they long since voted with their feet and abandoned the game to the hordes Two-Week Free Trial'ers sucked in by NC Soft, kids of all ages who never knew the game any other way but in its current state of "Form Over Content".

So, I guess the Devs and the Accountants got their way after all, because when you are left with only sheep, nobody really cares when they get shorn.

Except the guard dogs, who maintain the unappreciated responsibility of trying to get the hopelessly apathetic sheep to realize that the shepherds are only interested in their skins and, all too often, the flesh off their bones.

Wow, Dasher you're right!
Thank you for opening my eyes.

I demand more stuff for free, like three issues a year, more powers and new zones! Moar Events, costumes and other junk

I want it now!
You all owe me!

Enjoy the game, or find one that you will.
If something keeps disappointing you, then it's time to move on.

Wow, axe to grind? And no, all those grins don't turn anger, frustration and contempt into something palatable.

Look, the devs have said that the Citadel of Pain was implemented by a guy who is no longer with the company, who botched it so thoroughly that it needs to be scrapped entirely and redone. I'd find the link for you but I personally don't care about it. You can find it yourself if you do a minor amount of searching.

Now, you can cry all you want about how the devs ignore you (pardon me, "the players" which apparently equals you) and anyone else who isn't disgusted is a fawning fan-boi willing to eat whatever smeg the red-names deign to feed them. If that's your thing, more power to you. Your belief in it doesn't, fortunately, make it true.

What I never understand about the people who post this sort of crap is why YOU are voting with your wallet for the very devs you supposedly abhor. If everyone who plays this game is not getting their money's worth, then why the smeg are you throwing away your hard-earned money? If you're playing a game that makes you so incredibly frustrated, then who's really the sheep here?

I've payed, played, and canceled more games than I can remember at this point. I was a correspondent in Star Wars Galaxies, which made me a liaison between the players and the devs. When I got fed up with the devs and their direction, I didn't cry about how awful they were and then say "But this is the only Star Wars MMO around and I have this position of responsibility so I'm going to keep on paying them for it regardless." I moved on to another game.

I'm here now because I like the game, I like the devs, and I love the level of communication between the devs and the players. If my standards don't measure up to yours, Dasher, then I can only shrug and say "too bad, so sad". My reasons for playing and voting with my wallet by paying the devs are my own. Fortunately for me, they don't depend one whit on whether some random person thinks I'm a sucker.

If you're calling us suckers and YOU'RE STILL PAYING, who's really the sucker?

No smilies here.

Okay, I thought I was done with this thread but I actually laughed out loud when I read this.

Two words: Spare me. If I ever need your help to guard my sorry sheep [censored] from the scary predatory suits and devs at NCSoft then I'll be sure to send you a PM.

Here's the thing, Dasher - Your list of grievances conveniently ignores every bit of content and development work that HAS gone into the game. The fact that the work done on the game failed to meet your approval or the approval of some unquantifiable subset of player is simply tough smeg.

Numbers talk - the number of subscribers has remained mostly steady since launch. The churn-out is roughly equal to the churn-in, with the determining factor between the highs and lows mainly being analagous to the time-span between issues. If that's a game on the ropes because the devs are a pack of wolves flaying their subscribers alive, well, tell me where I can buy a few shares of the company so that I can get in on the bone-stripping action.

Without taking sides in the argument, I would like to say that I disagree with subscriber numbers remaining "mostly steady".

When I look at the numbers I do see a game that had it's peak at the end of '05 and has been slowly declining in numbers since then. I fully admit this could turn around at any time so please don't take this as DOOOOM.
