And one by Bokuman (some tweaks to the colors still pending)~

Nike IX by Bokuman

I have about 20 more sketches from the San Diego Comic Con. These are some quick photos rather than scans, so I appoligize in advance for the crappy light. I'll replace these with proper scans eventually .

Batches 1 and 2 from Comic-Con~

David Nakayama (He did some of the the CoH Comics. He was doing free headshots at the con. I was about 16th in the line to get one and very excited )
Ron Lim
John Watkins-Chow (This was his first take on the character.)
John Watkins-Chow (This was his second attempt after muttering 'I could've done better...' when he saw some of the other peices I was carrying around. Seemed like a good idea to let him have another go and it turned out to be one of my favorites )
Mathew Clark
Phillip Tan (I love how matter-of-fact this one is. She's very real in this piece.)
Kim DeMulder (Funny story - this man was the Kubert School art instructor for several of the other artists who did pieces at the show. Seeing his work and me mentioning I was going to have him grade their pieces seemed to help sharpen their concentration considerably .)
Pat Gleason (I'd been enjoying his work in Green Lantern Corps - something I realized only after he had started the piece and shown me a rough .)
Fredie Williams (Proof that the slighly cheaper "bust only" price can still get you a damn fine piece. Possibly my favorite face of any of them - somebody is about to get handed a beating I think .)

More on the way !

Nike IX is up to level 30 so far and is a Radiation/Radiation Defender. After playing through the game to 50 and beyond as an Empathy/Energy, I have to admit I'm liking this build a bit more. The toggle PBAoE hold is a riot .

This is the fist character I've heavily tricked out with inventions. Some of them (Performance Shifter proc in my stamina) are just silly powerful . I'm mostly going for procs (to make weird custom powers!), regen bonuses, and the occasional recharge rate bonus when I can get it. Soloing a -lot- of missions (my contact bars are almost all filled) has given me a couple weird/rare recipe drops and a couple sessions just cleaning out the junk recipies at Wentworths has given me the money to build some cool stuff .

Thank you ! I've been having way too much fun wandering around Deviant Art .

Beautiful work, congrats on both pieces!

I think I just about made Nakuru and Juggy's heads explode getting all the details perfect, but they were both troopers and it shows. Bokuman got the plague for his Christmas present (poor thing), so he hasn't gotten back on the colors, but even now I'm very happy with it. You'll be seeing a few more of the ussual suspects' work up here soon .

Knew I had seen your character somewhere, then you I hit the Bokuman piece and thought "That's where I've seen her".

Great collection you've got going.

Very cute character you got there!

Thanks . it was kind of on a lark that I got the first couple done, but now its turning into a real hobby .

The San Diego pictures were all kinda serious and technical (and came out very well for the most part). I'm trying to balance the collection with a few more styles, so I've gotten some anime and Bruce Timm-looking ones recently.

Yeah no doubt those are aome great commissions ya got for that cute looking character!!

Thanks . Tonight I just got a possible line on my favorite artist currently in comics doing a piece for me, so I'm kinda giddy.

I'm running on a GeForce 7800 GS that a friend told me to buy, so I suspect it's good but don't really have a basis for comparison. Its better than my old and unlamented card . I picked it up on sale for about $300. It seems to like CoX pretty well. My settings are based on a guide here on the forums for taking screen shots - which had me toggle some switches I didn't even know were there and definitely improved the look of the captures. I ussually do contrast correction and run a very slight blur filter on images before posting them to remove some of the jagged edges.

That and I'm always scouting Paragon City for good lighting . The sewers are the only place I've found consistent under lighting .

Great collection so far--I'm partial to Juggy's version, but that could just be me being all traditionalist about my comic art and everything.

Batch 1 from Comic-Con~

David Nakayama (He did some of the the CoH Comics. He was doing free headshots at the con. I was about 16th in the line to get one and very excited )
Ron Lim (Sorry about the lighting - this is actualy a really cool piece)
John Watkins-Chow (This was his first take on the character.)
John Watkins-Chow (This was his second attempt after muttering 'I could've done better...' when he saw some of the other peices I was carrying around. Seemed like a good idea to let him have another go and it turned out to be one of my favorites )
Mathew Clark (THis one is larger than the others and the glamour-girl detail he poured into it should show up better in the scan)
Phillip Tan (I love how matter-of-fact this one is. She's very real in this piece.)

Hope you enjoy !

Well, yeah, but in that case I was doing it deliberately . Found some very promising pages that way.

He has a really interesting style. The first one didn't do it for me right away but it grew on me over a day or two. It was really cool at the show that as my pile of finished pieces grew, the next wave of artists would look at them and get this really determined expression. It was one big game of one-ups-manship all weekend. I had six 3-page packets of screenshots I printed out. As as soon as one person was done I'd hand their packet on to the next artist I had scouted. I was like an artist alley juggler - trying to keep all six packets "in the air" for four days .

I found the screenshot guide in someone's signature. I'm trying to find the link with the search engine, but no luck so far . I'll keep looking.

At San Diego? I got 18 pieces (thought 2 haven't arrived - I'm trying to track those down still as I misplaced the cards of the artists). Most were between $40-$60 dollars with a few spikes (Pat Gleason was a little bit more but totally worth it). I basically set a hard $80 cap and if the artist was more expensive I just had to pass. All told it was about $1,000. I had been saving up for the show for a while and my "art juggling" act was pretty much the main thing I did there. Most of them are 11x14 and fit nicely in mylar top-loader slip cases. The result was a new wall of art in my office .

I totally envy you now Morgen...

I just started my arts collection for Summer, and to perform an idea like this is totally awesome. I hope I can pull this off at a comicon or something similar one day
