"Whatever you say..." Frenzk smiled as he went flying to the ground. Another flash. Another cloud of smoke. And suddenly, Frenzk was behind him, kicking viciously at the energy shield once again.

"Honestly, you see, I'm invincible. Let's face it kiddie, I'm out of your league by a mile. You may as well give it up right here, because I do fear I'll be the only one leaving this alive..."

Target twitched as healing energies abruptly and violently mended all the damage he'd taken. "Yeah, yeah..." he muttered. "And I really wish you'd warn me before you did things like that, 'Wing..." Then he levelled a flat glare at the Specialist and Groul. "So... your experience is irrelevant to ours, since every planet is different... so you can't offer any concrete advice... but our choice is unquestionably the wrong one, because... uh... your unapplicable experience says so? And we'll just have to trust you, even though you just finished saying that we can't trust one another..?" His voice trailed off mockingly, but he was interrupted by his Uncle's sharp synthesized voice from behind him, where E-X had been waiting patiently until his nephew finished saying his piece.

"Enough, Danny." Target started to object (again) to the diminutive, but the older Blaster just barged over top of him, continuing "There's a big alien tank-ish war machine parked a moderate distance to the North of here." He tossed a holo-generator onto the table, and a hologram of the half-buried Dark Rover popped into existence. "I'm assuming this is it? This little widget is outdated tech, and it has a map of the area in it- you'll have to excuse us if our base isn't located on it, but you should be able to navigate easily enough via the landmarks..." he poked a control, careful to show what he'd just done. "Like that- that button shows where any landmark you indicate (just poke your finger into the hologram in the appropriate spot) should look like from where you're standing."

He waved and indicated the exit. "I wish I could say it's been a pleasure, but arrogant, uninformed lectures so rarely are... Door's to your left."

"Oh, we got that." Danger returned to Bladewing with a slight chuckle, "We also got the other things that went along there - and we might be wrong, but judging from those, you're a really violent person."

"And my sincerest apologies to you." the Specialist turned to Arran, performing a slight bow, "I'm afraid you somewhat slipped my mind. Your presence is...incomplete. Pardon our ill manners."

"What he said." Groul agreed, feeling quite embarrassed that the ghost's kind welcome had passed him by in the haste of the moment as well, "If you'd like, I think I can discern the substance that maddened your friend earlier."

And while the red-scaled being offered an open hand, the Specialist's eyes rolled at Target's conclusions. Once again, the archer had taken what had been said and adapted it to his own preconceived views.

"One of these days, I hope you can stop seeing the world in black and white." Danger told him with a sigh, "Until then, I guess you just won't understand what we're saying."

"Or actually listen to it, it looks like." he snickered at Energon, but then berated himself, "Oh right, you stormed out of here before that. Then again, I'm not sure...ehhh, you know what? Just forget it. That'll only start that argument again..."

"Unlike you, I have yet to show all of my potential. You Archon's are all the same since that diseased orginaization called the Council has made you clones off one another. I have twisted your own ranks into a ironic mockery of its state as it is today, just a few of you left and it is no threat to me."

Cry launched and brought forth the invisible hands to grab the Archon firmly this time by the legs. "How does your mind taste Archon, like that of my sweet mother's milk?" The Archon was let go from the hands as some sort of seed was implanted into the mind of the Archon.

"All I needed at first was to touch you, to become you. You Archon's maybe secure from a frontal assault, but backdoors are always unlocked."

Cry was within the mind of the Archon and saw and knew what the Archon knew. "I just need skin contact that is all, that nice cut on your leg did nicely, did you ever think of the revibrations from my shield?"

The armoured Blaster shrugged, ignoring the tiny blue man's jibe now that he had cooled off some, and seen that Target was okay. I probably shouldn't get so worked up, but he's pretty much all the family I have left... he thought in passing. "Judging by Target's reaction, it sounds like you said that us fighting this war is unquestionably the wrong choice. Given that we don't have the resources to evacuate, or anywhere to run to even if we did, I'm not sure what you'd have us do, since our only other option is to lie down and put our heads on the chopping block." He shrugged.

"And that's just considering ourselves; Steel Canyon... this area... is the last great refuge; the one place on this continent where you can live in relative peace... unless you are sufficiently wealthy and don't mind being leashed and branded, of course..." he added, thinking of Creyville in new Skyway. "If defending those who cannot defend themselves is wrong by your lights, then, as far as I'm concerned, you've just forfeited your right to air your opinion to me." He gave another shrug, this one far more eloquent, basically saying with body language 'Aliens... go fig.'

Energon X headed for the door, ignoring the irritably stewing Target, and partially turned at the exit. "I will be in that area also; I saw energy traces that were consistent with the presence of a Kheldian Peacebringer in the area of your giant Rover-thing, and wish to make sure that they are safe, as Recluse has been conducting a concerted campaign to slaughter every last one on the face of the planet. Needless to say, most of them are on our side. If you have need of assistance, my commlink is keyed to your map for the next three hours."

He turned fully, and gave them an unreadable look, emotionless helmet and brilliantly-blazing eyes trained on them. "I do not like you." he said flatly. "You are poorly-spoken, arrogant, and, I believe, projecting your own issues onto us and judging us for having made the same mistakes you have without knowledge of whether we have or have not." He held up a hand to forestall comment. "BUT..." he continued, more passionately, "I will not see you come to harm as long as you have offered no injury to me and mine. And make no mistake... the area your giant black tinkertoy crash-landed in is as dangerous to those who lack knowledge as your unlabeled nuclear burn."

He turned and left, cape billowing about him like a living thing. Target, who was left behind, simply stared moodily at the two aliens, his chin in his hand, idly curious as to how they would react, and glumly suspecting that they would dismiss it out of hand as an act to try and convince them of the 'rightness' of his cause. Wonder if these jerks realize how far out on a limb Uncle E is going for them? Comm discipline borders on sacred here; to do what he's doing is an incredible offer of trust. He sighed, and shook his head, thankful that everything seemed to have settled into the right place.

((well... since all my other NPCs other than the insta-gibbed tanker were ignored, I'm going to assume that they've taken down Black Scorpion's Bane Spiders, and are free to concentrate on him.))

Scarlet Eye watched from his hiding-in-plain-sight (if he weren't invisible, anyways) place on the ceiling as the last of the Bane Spiders loyal to Black Scorpion fell. Those 'heroes' that consider themselves "Scrappers" are such wonderfully efficient killers, given the proper motivation... he thought with an ironic twist of hidden lips.

Black Scorpion's roar of triumph became a howl of pain and fear as the Scrapper's broadsword slammed through his robotic shoulder joint, crippling his arm. He dropped the body of the Tanker and the corpse of one of the Blood Widows who had unwisely gotten too close to him, but it was too late.

Cry's ex-puppets closed like a fist.

After a long moment where all that could be heard was what sounded like an amplified version of someone trying to put a tin can through a blender, Black Scorpion threw the last of his attackers off... and collapsed, wounded, dead, or dying, Scarlet Eye cared not. To the Eye's considerable amusement, one of the Fortunatas was still alive. Or, at least, half of her was. The other half was a good fifteen feet away.

The Scarlet Eye slid his psionic hooks into Cry's mostrous, clumsy control points on the dying psychic, and pushed. A telepathic death-scream ripped out of her, like the ecstasy of a demon, aimed at Cry. A titanic psionic shockwave roared out of her, the sum total of her telepathic potential for all the years she might have lived channeled through this single instant, rattling the shields of telepaths and psychics half a continent away and leaving Fortunatas all over the complex stunned or dying, blood leaking from their ears.

By your command, master... IT IS DONE!

Scarlet Eye chuckled again. Perhaps this would even distract Cry at a crucial moment... the little monster had gone out to 'play', after all. It was a pleasing thought, and he faded into the shadows and was gone.

As the bubble faded, and Acanous regained his vision, he saw the group of robots in front of him, arms raised and blasters charged He wasted no time, leaping streight into the air, a brutal onslaught of plasma catching in his energy field, the searing heat causing blisters and burns even though he haddn't taken the whole thing.
Belatedly, he released his own torrent of plasma from his left gauntlet, directed back at the bots, scattering thier slag out the window.
Landing on the partially melted floor, Acanous let out a gasp of pain, his skin cracked and bleeding in several places. Pain clouded his mind, as rage seethed and bubbled in his psyche. Blood slickened his armour, and boiled as it touched the floor, adding an ironlike tinge to the air.

Barely holding on to his sanity, Acanous lunged for the Arbiter, kicking pieces of molten floor up behind him. Reaching between dimensions, Acanous sundered a hole between realities, pulling the tenticals of a hungry thing from the abyss out of the void, directly under the arbiter (Twilight Grasp)

((A throwaway wouldn't be trying this hard, I assure you. He's a character.))

"Your fallacy of a tale beside, you'll find that this was easily one of your dumber ideas."

One of the Arachnos soldiers left alive suddenly grabbed his head and began screaming an ear splitting...howl?

Falling to his knees, the Spider's armor tore off of him in chunks as his body rapidly expanded, growing huge fangs, claws, and fur. His eyes turned a bloodshot yellow, his jaw elongated into a snapping maw that could bite a man in half without even trying. Standing back up into a crouched battle stance, the new War Wolf howled. It howled and howled, so loud that even the heroes in their secretive base would have heard that one. Loud enough that children cried, men cowered, and women shrieked.

"I must thank you, young lieutenant." Frenzk casually shrugged, reaching into the top of his armor jacket and pulling out -

A shadow cyst! Pulsing different colors, the crystal had a crack that was almost an exact replica of the Council Emblem on the Archon's chest.

"Honestly? I truly do have to thank you for the amplification. You've made this all the easier." He continued as more Arachnos succumbed.

"Now then, Epsilon team, Wolfpack Foxtrot. Do PLEASE finish this..."

The Mech Men began to concentrate their blasts at Cry as the War-wolves charged in at him, tattered remains of Arachnos armor still dangling at odd angles on their bodies.

"Well, I can see where you get your monochromatic outlook." Groul told Target with a smile. It seemed to be his only remark on the subject, as he then placed a pair of fingers to the side of his draconian head again, muttering three words in the same foreign tongue as before - more than likely informing the Dark Rover they'd be getting company soon.

"Oh, and tell the Chief we're ready to start the second phase." Danger reminded his compatriot, "Also, have them pull up stuff on this Recluse guy. I want to know if he knows anything about those guys with the battery ships."

The Field Commander relayed the message with a nod, then inquired of the Specialist, "You think that the reason he tries to exterminate the Kheldians here?"

"Maybe, maybe not." Danger waggled a hand to and fro, "You never know. Better play it safe. Besides, we can't..."

Without warning and from one moment to another, the Specialist's sentence cut short, the diminutive man leaping to his feet, guns drawn and ready, even as the towering Groul still shot to his full height, the draconian being's tail knocking his chair over in the process, the seat's frame of cold of steel clattering noisily to the floor.

"What in blue blazes was that?" Groul whispered concernedly, the claws of his right hand by now around the hilt of the massive sword on his back...

The Tangle
Grandville, Etoile Isles

The pale-blue eyes of Imad Malak glared coldly through the crimson windows of the conference room, the man's frigid gaze passing expressionlessly over the realm below, eyeing the structures of Spider City with soulless dispassion.

Malak wrenched himself from the sight, the sound of his feet upon the floor the only thing that broke the room's oppressive silence. He allowed himself a sigh upon beholding the blank spot of carpet where Recluse had stood so often in times past, masterminding his grand schemes in the vile aura of his inner sanctum. The conference table hadn't changed much either, though the blood-red projection upon it nowadays of course showed vastly different presentations than it had two decades ago.

And one of them came contrary to the daily routine - though not entirely unexpected, Malak had to admit.

The hospital below had just received a rather battered Black Scorpion. Malak let out another sigh. It figured...Rodriguez just never learned not to get in over his head. Or more accurately, what was left of it. Then again, not that it made much of a difference. There hadn't been much there to begin with.

Extrapolating what would happen now wasn't very demanding. Malak's finger already rested upon the response contact of the table's intercom. As expected, Daos took no more than seven seconds to call in.

"Master Scirocco." was all the Arbiter had time to say before Malak already acknowledged.

"I know." the archvillain massaged his temples with his free hand, "I felt it as well. And do you still insist on calling me that?"

"Yes." came the rather dry answer. It stood clear Arbiter Daos wasn't in the mood for games, "I am dispatching a response unit as we speak. We should have this cleared up shortly."

"Actually, I think I'd like to handle this one personally." Malak retorted, "There's been too much of a ruckus at the Fortress lately for my tastes."

"Of course, Sir." Daos' voice contained an audible smirk, "I whole-heartedly agree. I shall have preparations made immediately. I assume you wish to depart as soon as possible?"

"Almost, yes." Scirocco elaborated, "My mystics' scryings have spotted something...intriguing. No, I'm afraid that's all I have at this point."

"I understand." Daos acknowledged, "The transport shall await your pleasure."

"Thank you." Malak gave an instinctive nod, releasing the contact. He stepped to the windows once more, contemplating the situation.

The rivalris between 'the new kid' and the others had been festering for a while now. It appeared Cry had finally made his move. Just great...now he finally had something to pull him out of Grandville, and now this had to happen. But he knew better than to simply let the Arbiters loose. Arachnos needed Ghost Widow's successor, though of course none of the upper echelon would admit it. Still, this had to stop. Black Scorpion would be fine - Ernesto was practically a robot these days anyway; if the medics couldn't revive him, Malak knew Grillo could - but this was just unbecoming. Scirocco knew he'd left Arbiters at the Fortress. Why hadn't they stepped in?

Well, he'd find the answers soon enough. It was ironic, really. Recluse had placed him in charge for one reason, and one reason only - because Scirocco could be trusted not to be trusted. The leader of Arachnos knew well his mystic Lieutenant still stood unbroken...and this was exactly the reason he knew Scirocco would maintain the status quo Recluse desired.

After all, he was no fool. Common sense dictated that no sooner had the last of Paragon's heroes been eradicated, the conquerors would turn on themselves. At present, Arachnos wasn't ready, and if such happened, the whole scheme would collapse yet again.

Luckily, Recluse had Scirocco. His gentle fist, his man of mercy. Whether Malak wanted to or not, he'd maintain the status quo...because his nature didn't allow for anything else...

The psychic scream not only had reached other continents. It had reached a place outside of this world once called the Shadow Shard. Rularuu was gone, and so were all of his other selves. They had finally been defeated and the Shard needed a new lord to over see it.

All most all of the floating islands were heavily veined, or had completely become glowing green crystal. As the shockwave tore through this world, the crystal vibrated. A consciousness that had long slept was awakened and a small part of the crystal fields began flowing together. The origin cluster separated itself from the others and summoned a body it hadn't had to use in over twenty years.

This body was the reason that neither heroes nor villains were welcome in the Shard. Since it had been so rudely awakened from it's sleep of growth, it was angry very angry.

Dax looked up at the glowing light green sky and smiled in such away that even the hardest of men would have shuddered. He had forgotten how much fun it was to not be omnipotent in his own world.

A look crossed his face, something that said he either had remembered something long forgotten or he had realized something he had never thought of. He could feel the energy of the only person other than DWC members that could fight on equal standing with him. Who knows, maybe the saurian could feel that he had awakened after such along time.

Cry snapped his knuckles, something a baby shouldn't be able to do. His hand made a erratic twist and wave, "I learned this from an ole' friend." Several bodies on the ground convulsed and straightened, then a small orb flew up and gathered around Cry.

"I wouldn't call it Soul Storm, for now see what it does." Cry arched his head back and grunted forward as the orbs followed and twisted along with him being propelled. The volley of the last blasts bounced off his shield and he put it down momentarily to let the attack initiate.

"Soul Seekers!"The orbs flew across and collided with anything living, and the unfortunate ones twice. Most War-Wolfs stopped in their tracks and started to clasp their bodies a dieing howl as the Seeker ate at their body and soul. The War-Wolf went to howl when purple light shone out of every opening in its body and it convulsed and died.

Most of the War-Wolfs were dead and Cry was about to put up his shield when it wouldn't respond. "Arachnos... listen... gone... silence..." He heard these whispers as they echoed across his mindscape. Cry went to put up his arm to end this, but he hard a time moving it alone.

"Quite unfortunate Archon that I won't be able to kill you by my own hands. Something is causing a temporal fuzz that inhibits my powers at the moment. If you haven't noticed, we only use Kheldians as ship fuel anymore not weapons." Cry cringed and tried to move more his body still suspended in air.

The Mech-man below were aiming, not even firing, the physic shockwave was strong enough to cause some short circuiting. "Guardian, protect."

Rubble erupted and the invisible hulked crouched ready to jump. "Don't... let him... touch me." A gust of air signaled that it had jumped at the Archon.

Cry was going over plans, the Seers had seen what he had seen. Though Cry was an excellent fortune-teller it was unlike the Seers to see an accurate future like he did and they had just accomplished this task. 'I only wish they understood the riddles.'

Energon X flew out of one of the Bastion's many hidden entrances; the psychic plane was not his domain, so the shockwave passed over him unnoticed as he winged his hidden way North.

Inside, Target was on his feet nearly as fast as Danger, then airborne, bow fully drawn as he took station near the ceiling where he could cover very nearly the entire room. Any threat that appeared would be greeted with an arrow between the eyes. Questions could come later.

If Bastion falls, so too does the rest of the world. he thought grimly.

The Scarlet Eye arrived in the Shadow Shard, a wary partial manifestation in the Psychic Plane. The Shard's current master was no telepath, but here, his rule was absolute.

An ethereal smile, shrouded in darkness even on this rarified plane. There is anger here... anger that can be channeled... used... used for my purposes. he thought. The Eye reached out, carefully, shuddering faintly at the contact with the crystal mind. If ever there was something that could exemplify absolute order, it was in this crystalline labyrinthe of mathematical perfection.

A touch, lighter than a falling feather. A push, a natural shift of thought. A gentle tug, distorting the senses ever so faintly. The Scarlet Eye worked his chaotic magic on the orderly mind before him.

If his efforts were succesful, when Dax attempted to follow his senses back to Earth, he would appear in the heart of the Arachnos compound, and fly into a blind rage instantly. With luck, Scarlet Eye's supposed allies would be able subdue Dax and regain access to the Shadow Shard and its wondrous Kora Fruit.

((good to see an old face!))

Bladewing twitched for the briefest of moments, than all of his scales suddenly turned to glowing green crystal, as though a wave had broken over him.

Just as quickly the changed back to their normal black color, but left an unmistakable meaning.

"Dax..."

Ducking back through his portal, Bladewing ran to his meditation sphere, so fast that the floor tiles in his base were torn from the wake of his passage.

Opening the sphere, Bladewing immediatly established as many telepresence and clairaudience spells as he could with the Shadow Shard, all while assuming sitting lotus and hovering above the sphere's bottom.

Reaching across dimensions, Bladewing made contact with the crystalline organism.

"Hey Dax! good to "feel" that you are awake, after thirty years I was starting to think that all the old crowd were gone...with a few exceptions."

For the first time in this particular conflict, Jake was worried. His assault had failed to kill the threat instantly, and, while he was badly injured, which could easily be determined by scanning him, or, more simply, looking at him, he was still in a proper condition to continue fighting.

The molten slag was, again, easily taken care of by Jake's forcefield defense. Not many things could penetrate this defense, which was why Arachnos had long since applied it to most, if not all, Arbiters and those Lieutenants who requested it.

But, such a defense couldn't shield him from the next assault. Before Jake could retaliate, or even resummon his minions, a portal suddenly opened up below him, grasping his limbs and forcing him to a dead halt. The only reason he remained airborne was the flames in his boots, and even that could probably easily be snuffed out by the pure negative energy the creature emitted. He tugged a few times at the bands of darkness, but to no avail. He was utterly trapped. All he could hope to do was wait it out until the portal decided to close on itself.

But that could take hours, maybe more if the summoner was proficient at their skill. In short, the tables had turned rather quickly.

"[censored]." He muttered, surrendering his limbs over to the beast and glaring Acanous in the eye. "So what now? It's not like you can hurt me. You've seen the power of my defense. All you can do is back up and hope you come up with a way to hurt me before Fluffy here goes away."

The emphasized word was not for nothing. At the moment he said that, three Arachnos Snipers who had fortified themselves on top of the building after the battle had begun took their eyes off of their current target. They instead chose to train their guns at the cranium of Acanous himself. Again, these were each aimed at strategically placed locations, meaning, should he dodge one, he'd most likely put himself in harm's way yet again.

Each fired simultaneously, the specialized bullets flying at nearly light speed.

At this point Frenzk was practically shouting, but still his composure kept himself standing straight and officiously.

"You're dead."

Frenzk threw a blinding cloud of flash-powder in front of him and a smoke bomb at his feet, and he was gone.

For a moment, everything was still.

And then, right behind Cry, Archon Frenzk came out of hiding with an Assassin's Blow.

"I may be notable for my skill, but it is my Eye that I am most known for." The seed that was within the Archon allowed Cry to see through the eyes of the Archon. "They may be out for my blood, but not even a mystic can see as far ahead as I can and use it in battle." Cry hinted his victory in battle, the Archon had to retreat if Cry still wanted to play.

Cry went with the leg and grabbed it, in that moment inhumanely for his size and supposed age he was up at the head of the Archon and smiled. "Let me fiddle with this thing you call a brain." The physic fuzz no longer bothered him and he put his full mental effort into a concentrated section of his fingers that were planted firmly on the temporal and frontal lobes of the head.

"Think of it as a temporary lobotomy my toy, a punishment. Because now there is a new enforcer in these parts, I am laying down my hands, it is now a toyland for girls and boys." He laughed as he pulled the song from his own memory and placed it inside the Archon in a continous loop.

"Toy land, toy land, little boy and girl land, while you dwell within it, you are very happen then. Childhood's joyland, mystic merry toyland! Once you pass its borders, you can ne'er return again."

Dax shrugged, his crystal body not making a sound. He felt the mental tug of the Scarlet Eye and shrugged it off, impossible for any normal thing to do but the crystal was nowhere near what people would call normal. He had afterall lived with an actual Chaos God for the better part of a century before he had went to sleep.

Dax's humanoid crystal form shifted and changed, the excess crystal 'flesh' slothed off and formed a cloud around him as he turned into a very familiar form he had used many times in the past. He went down on all fours and his body took of the shape of a glowing green house cat. A diamond shaped patch of brilliantly energized crystal appeared on his forehead.

The cat took a long leap from his main floating crystal to several smaller ones. The cat seemed to smile as he simply dissapeared.

Bladewing's Base

A cat suddenly appeared across from the dark saurian sitting on it's haunches. It seemed to lazily scratch behind an ear as it addressed the master of this realm.

"Good evening 'Wing. Been awhile hasn't it? Don't really have a perception of time anymore. Last I heard Kaega and the others were battling in another dimension. Are there any defenders of the Code left or are all the greats gone?" The cat said as he stopped scratching.

Dee flopped the unconscious form of Marty into a rejuvenation/detox tank. He closed the lid and began to pump the glowing green liquid into the pod.

King's Row?/Forgotten Zone

The gangs were all gone. So were the people. Arachnos couldn't find a good use for this section of Paragon and had closed the borders to it. The only thing left were the homeless and the forgotten. Oh and we can't forget the Lost, they considered this an ample breeding ground.

A man wearing a tattered shirt and once purple and black jesters pants stumbled from an alleyway. Behind him lay the corpses of a Lost group that thought he would be easy pickings, each had a nice shiny dagger sticking from their throats. He continued up the street mumbling about his lost hat.

At his belt hung a silver mask which seemed to have an eternally smiling face on it. His white scraggly hair was very visible as his british accent carried up the street to a group of the Degected.

"Hey Clown. Come join us around the fire. You look like you are having one of your more coherent days friend," said a man that was standing around a burning barrel, his overcoat had turned brown and was frayed at the edges. He had been a proffessor at a nearby university till everything had went south.

"Yeah Mick, I hate the days when I can think. It always hurts the most," The man they called Clown said in his unmistakably Brittish accent.

He joined the others at the fire. No one asked him any questions about his past, they knew he wouldn't answer and that he would probably leave. Considering that he was one of the last people left that helped them they all knew that if it weren't for him they would all be Lost.

"I have been mostly out of touch myself, the control personality has been bugging me to go into hibernation and let the world tear itself apart, but every once in a while I went out and slaughtered a bunch of guys."

"As for the greats?, I had no idea about Kaega, Caleb's dad had a kid, who is also named Caleb, and according to him, Kaega vanished, some of the DWC died, and Bang is somewhere, just minus the powers, and mutterung about a lost hat..."

Glancing edgewise at the cat, Bladewing raised one scaled eyebrow.

"So apart from apparently being master of the Shard these days, how go things.....oh and do you know anything about what happened to Bang? He mightve been annoying but he was hilarious. Especially the story about, you, him, Kaega, and Paraguay."

((What DID happen to those sky raiders, anyhow?))

The beams found thier target, and Acanous stopped with a jerk, cutting off a cry of pain and rage.
Falling to his knees, blood obscuring his face like some carnival trick, he looked confused, a shocked expression frozen on what parts of him could be seen.

Momentum carried him forward, to land face-first in the remains of the charred floor.
Blood pooled around the hero as the energies he had been controllig dissapated.

---------------------U.L.T.R.A. Outpost, Warburg------------------
A faint beeping alerted Angus to a lapse in Acanous' vitals. He paused over his computer, then opened a satelite uplink to verify that Acanous was still in this dimension, just in case it was a distance problem.
Noting that he appeared to still be in Steel Canyon, the android shrugged, and made a small note in the personnel files.
"July 6th, 2029. Acanous recieved lethal damage from an unknown source. Be sure to check in to this when he gets back."

--------------------The Void--------------------
It was dark. It always is. Every time this happens, I forget how dark it is. The pain is gone. I suppose that's a good thing, for most. For me, it's just a temporary reprieve.

Some would just give up when they get here, let the cosmic wave take them into the herafter.

Me, I don't have that option. I have a job to do.

Turning away from the darkness, I focus on the things that keep life worth living.

Family
Friends
The people I have to save...

The darkness faded, forming a picture of the Arachnos base in Steel Canyon. Pain wracked Acanous, but he focused it, used it, his mind and body physically incapable of working, but his Soul unwilling, or unable to give up the fight. From the wellsprings of his psyche, it latched on to the only hold it had-
his Faith.

Like an inverted Soul Storm, the world shook at the near loss of one of the Keepers of Reality- Energies syphoned from nearly everyone and everything in the immediate vacinity flooded to patch the wounds of the Hero.

The room spun around him as some obscure part of reality itself Changed, leaving Acanous standing whole, in a small river of his own blood.
(Soul Transfer. Normally it's an autohit mag 30 irrisistable stun, but within the confines of this RP, that'd be WAY too cheesey and broken)

Cry would find that his 'lobotomy' idea wasn't going to work.

"Hah, hah." Frenzk smiled at the infant, face to face. "Chap, why do you keep making these mistakes?"

Cry's psychic energy coursed through the Archon electrically.

Something in his blood sizzled.

Something foreign.

Super Soldier Serum.

"Rest assured, Lieutenant Cry, I will be back to finish you. Except next time...Let us just say that I will do more than single handedly defeat you on the field of battle, kill all your men, and leave you with a little something!" He cackled.

Something Cry never could have expected happened.

Frenzk broke his psychic hold. The Super Soldier Serum coursed through Frenzk's fists, his legs, his eyes. He stared into the husk of a child in front of him and drew back for a huge roundhouse kick.

"Rest assured child, I shall return!" He yelled, and in one motion, Frenzk threw a blinding cloud of acidic dust into Cry's face and kicked with all of his might.

Whenever Cry came back around, the Archon and all of his Robots were gone. No corpses littered the battlefield. There was an Arachnos radio next to the child.

And his transport ship was gone.

---

"We will RUIN him next time men!" Frenzk yelled to the assembled Penumbra and Vortex, who cheered in turn. "Today I go to speak to the mighty Center himself, and with his vision, we will crush our foe and cement ourselves as the greatest power ever conceived!"

The kick surprised him. How could he not see it, he had seen it before just minutes before knowing every single move. That stupid physic interruption must of disrupted his hinted chance, but even then fate was set unless some other realm intertwined. "The Shadow Shard was sealed... unless someone or something was hidden within."

That does it! He looked within himself and beaconed himself. "My new found playmate, where ever you are I have a task that we shall dwell together on, put aside our past conflict and think of it as an assessment of your power. This haven for our pawns has been overrun, their isn't enough room for the true chess pieces in this game. I will await for your response my second Eye."

He floated and wiped the now crystallized dust off his face the stinging of it still penetrating. He shifted and the foreign substance fell of his face. He looked up and saw a flying figure who seemed to have watched the fight. "You there!" His voice amplified one hundred times by his psychic. "I order you to give me your transporter to base." He was using his physical eyes and that of a baby's eyes were only 120/20 such that the figure was foggy.

He scanned the figures mind and quickly picked up a name. "Dead Aim it is? Help me, I need to rest, Cry needs to rest."

"Alright..." Danger grumbled with pause, still eyeing the Bastion's chambers that lay in his view with a careful gaze, "Considering nothing's exploded yet, I'm going to say that wasn't specifically here. How about you?"

"Agreed." Groul relaxed once more, the grip upon his sword loosing gradually, then inquired of his comrade, "Mental plane?"

"I think so." the Specialist concurred, shooting a smile to the red-scaled being as he holstered his own weapons as well, "We really need more intel about this place. Pass the word to let the probe at anything and everything it can sink its teeth into. If we're going to be gathering materials..."

"We'll need to know where to find them anyway." Groul finished with a nod, then did as asked, reopening the channel with the Dark Rover to relay their thoughts on the matter.

And as the draconian spoke with their superiors, the Specialist inquired of the hovering archer with a thumb at Bladewing's portal, "I may be wrong, but I'm guessing your pal ran off to kill whatever sent that out. Think he might need help, or can he handle it?"

"They may have other concerns right now." Groul spoke English once more, interjecting before Target could answer, "The Chief says they've spotted three aircraft en route from the east. It looks like your enemies are reinforcing their position..."

((Well... figuratively. >.> Would it have been better if I said really really fast?

And Soviet already said that they had lost, but, since Acanous and Jake's fight is going on simultaneously, I'm just mentally noting that the Sky Raiders and Arachnos are still duking it out, hence why I'm not dragging Tamesis into this conflict. ))

Jake smirked as he saw one of the bullets hit its mark, the beast that had been holding him immediately dissapating and leaving him to his own control.

"And that's why you don't [censored] with an Arbiter."

He turned to go away at about the same moment Acanous rose from his defeat. The energy literally seemed to be absorbed out of him. He felt weak, sleepy, and overall useless. The Hell? He thought while by some miracle he turned his head in Acanous's direction.

"But... You were dead..."

Jake saw the situation that he was in with no bias. The tables had yet again turned, and he had just grasped the short end of the wish bone.

He scowled, this fight quickly growing old. "Fine, I'm getting tired of this." Jake muttered a voice command into his mic, automatically having his suit give him an addrennaline injection. Immediately his energy returned, even moreso than before.

Seems my suit's energy was drained as well. Shields are only working at about 40%, and my plasma beam should take almost twenty seconds to recharge.

"But that's no problem..." He muttered, detaching six metallic disks from his leg. Throwing each onto the ground, six flashes of light showed with six robots appearing shortly after. Each was silent, except for a small beeping.

Thirty seconds, that's all I need.

-----

The snipers weren't just going to let their victim's rebirth just go unnoticed. Again they lined up their scopes, aiming in precisely the same spots as last time. Again, Acanous would be subjected to the metallic objects attempting to penetrate his skull, and again, should he fail, he would fall.

Bastion Cafeteria

The ethereal Arran motioned his arm, the crates began flowing out of the door. "Well men, since it appears my assistance is no longer needed, I believe I will take my leave and begin going through the supplies that Master Bladewing brought us. But we still have concerns over both food and purification tablets."

Arran motioned again and began a slow, leisurely float out of the room.

Dee reviewed the readouts his monitor was displaying about the current metabolic situation of Marty. Twnety percent of the drugs had already been detoxed out of the scrappers body. It wouldn't have even proggressed that far if it hadn't been for the fighter's healing factor amplifying the neutrinos being filtered into his body.

Dee was almost tired of having to keep a tank on reserve for the knuckle head.

Bladewing's Base

The cat hopped off the raised stone pedistal he had been setting on. He lazily walked around the meditation pool to the waiting saurian in that way cats had that always seemed like they were doing it because they knew it would annoy you.

"The Court had a falling out 'Wing. Jonas figured out how to become a conduit for all the Dark Worlds power. To do this he needed all of our compliance. We went along because we trusted him, our mistake. He used Kaega's immortality and Arget as a focal point. He used me to amplify and contain the energy. He used Build to create a device that would keep the portal open. He used Bang to offset the order the other people had brought with his Chaos power. And with that he defeated us all." The crystal cat said as he stared deeply into the sword weilder's eyes.

"No, I don't know where Bang has gone. Rest assured he will still be alive even after all of this time. I believe I would like to see this hero base, I know there is still one out there, there always is. I would ask of you one thing though, do not let them know that I am any more than a strange cat. A familiar if you will. It would be alot easier for both of us that way," The cat said as it gave a leap and came to rest on the sword weilder's shoulder.
