Thanks, Ski. Some of the specifics are off, but after the pain of doing it in the first place, I'm not inclined to go back over it for accuracy. That's the downside of these really tightly-inked pieces-- even minor lineart changes can end up a major undertaking.
That said, I love the finished product. Vanguard's really intricate, and it looks great. I don't think I'll add the under-suit patterning, though. It's subtle to start with, and all that ribbing and honeycombing would be murder. Maybe on some other, super-detail piece when I'm not so strapped for time/cash, though...
Small little something-different before bed:
For the poster, I fired up Illustrator for a few minutes before chasing some SGmates around for the evening, and pulled together a quick-but-nice Vanguard logo .
Very nice Su!

Niska: Are you Familiar with the works of Shan Yu?
Thank you both. It's going to look a million times better once finished, but I'm really happy with the linework.
Which is good, because finding some time to get the rest done is going to be tricky for a week or two. Hopefully, I can sneak in a bit of time and polish it off quickly somewhere in among other things.
Well, finally. An update. As some of you are aware, I've been hard at work on a large commission to pay a looming bill, but it's done, complete, and everything's fantastic( leaving aside having had more fun uses for the money than loan bills, of course. T_T ).
For those curious, the comission is here , and it's not a CoX piece this time, but instead a LotRO player's Monster Play spider. Still, it was a lot of fun to do something different, and I finally got to really stretch myself a bit on some digital oil painting.
Enough of that, I'm sure you all would be much more interested in something CoX-related. So, onwards-- to relax after finishing that long, long piece of work, I finished up the Vanguard piece.
So, here's Su-Lin as a Vanguard Poster Girl. I'll probably submit this one to the fanzine or the City Scoop later.
Both of those pieces are awesome! Great work!
Those look fantastic! I just set the first one as my desktop.
Thanks, both of you. Fortunately, the spider came out really well. The person who commissioned it has been possibly the best commission client I've had yet-- and that's saying something, since I've had some VERY excellent clientele in the past. Bashel was just supremely fabulous to do work for, though-- especially with the bill I had hanging over my head.
Another not-CoH piece, but I figure most people here will appreciate general game fanart. Plus, I know LJ and I were talking about Illustrator a week or so ago, so it's only fair I prove that I *do* sometimes use it, as I have here:

I love this game unreasonably, though I'm sad to admit I haven't finished it yet. I was going to, but Mass Effect came in the mail the day I was expecting to finish, and thus I have not quite managed to finish off my last couple of kills. On the other hand, this also means Mass Effect art is forthcoming eventually in some form.
I'm also sad to report that despite my best efforts and narrowly missing it about five times, I still haven't quite managed to get my Blade in the Crowd achievement. Something always manages to pooch it for me. T_T

Cool piece - makes me want to check out the game.
If you've got a 360, Juggs, totally do. I've heard a lot of people complain about the game - the controls, the content, the usual junk - but I've honestly /never/ experienced any of the problems they have.
Besides, how many games let you Parkour through Jerusalem?
It is FABULOUS. I'm sure it's lovely on the PS3 as well... but then you finish the game and all you've got left is a cheap Blu-ray player.
Some people complain about the controls and gameplay.. but honestly every complaint I've heard has boiled down to "I thunk that stealth games wuz suppost to bee liek teh Metul Geerz" and other variations on "Learn2play, n00b". Occassionally I get a little odd control glitch, but it's always because I came running at a ledge from a funny angle.
It's gorgeous though, and really, really well made. Totally worth giving a shot.
Never tried it out myself but I have watched my brother play it on a few occasions.

So, I've been back to the game for a while now(almost a month), and it's high time I posted some new work. Sadly, It's taken me a while, as I've had to focus on commission work for various reasons(and my current batch o' such isn't CoX-related at all).
Also, I've decided NOT to resurrect the old sketchbook thread and just start a fresh one. Yey.
So, to start it off... a work in progress. I don't usually like to post WIPs, but it's going to be a bit before I can get this one finished and I'm tired of waiting. This is a very scaled-down, cropped preview of Su-Lin mugging as a Vanguard poster girl. It's just the inks and flats-- I'll probably opt to cell-shade this, though there's the chance I might go in for something more elaborate. It also lacks the background and text and sundries so far.
