Fanart/Request from Nurse White

Hello everyone and thank you for taking the time to read my request!

In Celebration of getting my first CoH Character to 50, I would truly love to honor the occasion with a Character Portrait!

While I always appreciate gift art, I do also appreciate the time, skill, talent and work that goes into any creative process and will gladly compensate any artist willing to take up this Project!

I have attempted to touch base with a number of Artists on Deviant Art, but it seems that Deviant art is a wonderful place to showcase Talent, but not always the best place to get in touch with Artists. People seem to either not get back to me or the artists that I really like don't seem to be taking commissions any more, or are very back logged in requests.

So I thought I would make a request here on the forums, and see if there would be anyone whom would be interested in and willing to do a piece on Nursey! It seemed to be the wiser idea than sifting through Deviant Art and being turned down or put on hold for months until a Commission Spot opens up, and so I truly do thank you for your consideration!

Nursey has always seemed to me, to be a fun, cheeky and provocative character and I would very much like to see that Fun, Sexually charged playfulness translate into the piece.

So this was the general sort of thing I had in mind:

Character: Nurse White
Piece Type: Single Character, Full Body, Color, Black Background.
Style: Classic Pin-Up/Centerfold

Character Reference Shots

Character Selection, Front and Back

Full Body

Up Close

Nursey in the Sky

Pose Reference Shots

Many of the artists I have spoken to previously have requested reference photos so here they are!

It would be nice to have something that is a sort of merger of the two poses, but I am completely open to ideas and suggestions and in no way shape or form would want to stifle your creativity.

Upper Body Pose

I absolutely adore this pose, its cheeky, sexy and I'm so glad I found it when doing research.

I love the Position of the hands, the way she is looking at the camera.

Lower Body Pose

I love the shape of the body and legs, very curvy and sultry but I much prefer the way she is facing and holding her hands in the previous pose.

If you have the time, and feel this is a project you would be willing to work on, please let me know!

Once again, thank you so very much for your time and consideration!

I think that Jeremy Farlow would be exactly what you are looking for.

I believe you are to be in my upcoming queue along side another girl for my Valentine's issue of Play City... I can include this pose for that if you can wait.

Thank you for the response Juggertha!

I already have a request in and sitting with Jeremy Farlow for a Rough inks with color, half-body piece for Nursey, and I will happily sit on that one till the cows come home (or he declines) because Farlows style is truly beautiful.

The only thing is Jeremy Farlow doesn't really take pose/style requests, to Quote Farlows Quick Commission Request Rules:

[ QUOTE ]
3. The pose and details of the drawing is at my discretion. If the character's design is too detailed, I may opt to reduce it to a level that is fair to the price I'm asking.

[/ QUOTE ]

So for Nurseys "Hitting 50" piece I would really like at least some say or means to suggest pose or at least giving a little input, because the character has meant so much to me over the years and this is such a milestone for her.

So this is a separate commission from both the Commission's I already have waiting with Daggerpoint/Farlow And with Drunkfu/Gregory.

Neither of those pieces I'm in any real hurry for, but I really didn't want to ask either of them "Hey can you also do this one as well."

I truly do thank you for that offer of working with the concept and the pose, but the Valentines Play City thing is more something for and through Rose and doesn't really Commemorate Nursey hitting the big 50.

But I see and appreciate what you guys are saying, Its probably better to try and apply this to one of the pieces that's on the sidelines, en cue and hasn't been started yet, rather than trying to set up another Commission.

Sound Advice, and will probably be better in the long run, as looking at the "Planned but not confirmed" Commissions, if they all come through between Rose and myself we will be spending a pretty penny.

Still I would really love to do something big and Special for Nursey, she has become something more than just a character, over 2 years of play, Role-Play and being remade twice she has become her own unique person.

I wasn't planning on her reaching 50 anytime soon, I guess it seems kinda silly and sentimental but now that she is, I sort of wanted to do something special just for her, to mark the occasion, you know?

Well, I know you didn't commission me to do anything for you, and you probably have no idea who I am, but I thought that I would help you celebrate hitting level 50.

Congratulations Nurse White!

Anyway, I hope you enjoy it.

Aww, that made me go all Misty eyed.

You really, truly didn't have too! But thank you, truly thank you so very much, that is so incredibly sweet of you Travis.

And beleive it or not, I do know who you are, I remember that Avatar clear as day and I am pretty sure we have been on the same, and opposite sides of various Scrapper Related Discussions over in the Scrapper Forums throughout the years.

Here I am trying to Commission something and you spring that on me.

I don't know what to say, I really wasn't expecting that at all and "Thank you" doesn't even begin to convey the depths of my heartfelt appreciation!

This is why CoX is one of the best games out there and what has kept me coming back for 3 years, not really for the game itself but for the Community and the wonderful people within it.

I really can't think of another Online Community where someone would enact such a random act of kindness to someone they don't really know.

You are very welcome.

And I know you were looking to commission someone, so don't let this stop you from doing such. there are so many great artists out there. I was just inspired by all the thought and referrences you included in your post that I couldn't help myself.

I just hope that I was able to capture some of what you were looking for. And besides, this is good practice for me because I am contemplating doing actual commissions and I need to get a feel for what I am able to do and offer - so maybe I should be thanking you for letting me use your character

But in the end, your thanks was what made it worth it. And I am glad you like it.

I take commissions, but I'm kinda winding down and won't be taking them much longer (too many other projects going). My site and DA are both in my sig - the site has more art on it, while the DA tends to be more recent.

*EDIT* - Oh, and I'm not strict about poses, because no one knows the character better than their creator. Suggestions are always welcome.

@SlaveDawg

I think having someone else work from the same idea would be extremely disrespectful after you have put in that time, effort and made of it a gift, wanting nothing but thanks in return.

I have another idea for The first Pic that with a few moderations will mean it will not even remotely similar, so there is no need to cover old ground.

Besides, I really do love your piece!

The more I look at it, the more details I find in terms of the shading and blending, and I love the little touches on the material of her cardigan.

Plus, I think I'm turning into a budding Art Wh*re... so I'm always ecstatic when people want to draw Nursey, or are willing to accept Commissions of her, especially when there are so many wonderful characters already to draw inspiration from.

It really is addicting, but it sure beats smoking!

Truly, thank you once more! I really do love it!

Your work is simply awe inspiring, I actually know and recognize some of your pieces from old Magic Cards... D'Avenant Archer, Serra Angel, Demonic Tutor and all those.

Your 3D Art and Renders for CoX are just beautiful, I love the ones you did of Rowr and Fire Lily, and the new one of Sunder Shock is intense beyond words.

While that would be something really special, I'm pretty sure a professional, and Published Graphic Artist of your Talent and Quality is way out of my league right now. You don't seem to have any Pricing on your Deviant art Page, and your Website starts at $100 for Pencil, $200 for Color, and that's not really something I can afford right now.

I was looking to do a Color something in the $30 - $50 range and I'm not quite sure on your policy of accepting co payments of first born children, or the souls of the unwilling.

I would love to see what you would do with the character, but I'm just getting the first tastes of the Commission Addiction and I'm none to certain the IRS would be very understanding if they came to find out that I spent this Months Payment on a really beautiful piece of Art... no matter how tempting it may be to do so.

I am truly honored that you would offer a Commission Slot, I only wish I was in a position to actually take advantage of that wonderful opportunity!

If you don't win, I can always do something for you too. Check out my sig for my work. I'm affordable but I tend to shy away from commissions because when it's free, I can do what I want when I want, but we can talk. I'd be happy to do something. The costume looks pretty straightforward so it should really affordable. Just pm here or on my DA page if your interested.

I couldn't agree more... it's posting like that "does" inspire artists to take up the gauntlet. Only BAS does an equally inspiring job, he does reference pages and puts them in his scraps section on DA.

Unfortunately for me SlaveDawg got the draw off first... But let me see what comes to mind, I need a warm up this morning, so I can't promise anything great.

Be right back.

I just wanted to thank everyone for the overwhelming response!

I'm currently in discussion via PM's with a few people about pieces, and we shall see how it all goes from there!

Thank you so very much for your suggestions, advice and offers of help! Truly you have all been wonderful!

Aww, well I read the "How to make a request" sticky, and I also have a number of friends whom are artists so I see the sort of thing they have to put up with from people on a day to day Basis, plus I am used to people always wanting something from me when Scripting or doing Interior/Exterior World Design so I thought I would just ask the way that I or others I know would wish to be asked.

Even if its a paid Commission, the Artist in question is still doing you a huge favor because very rarely does the price of the Commission ever sync up with the time, effort and love placed into a piece of Art, and if you break it down to Dollars an Hour it can be quite disheartening, so even Paid Commissions are a gift of the persons time and talent.

That people are responding with not only offers and coveted places in Commission Slots, but also with Gift Art is kind of overwhelming! I have had a couple of pieces of Art given to me by close friends, but from Artists I don't really know but admire their talent makes me want to gush and write ten pages of "Thank Yous."

My own artistic streak comes in the vain of Music, and 3D World Design... So I have a great respect for Artists that can pick up the Pencil or the Paint Brush (Or even Tablet) and Build Living Breathing worlds on Paper, rather than in a Game Engine, and it truly astounds me every time.

I sort of gave up on Drawing and Painting when I left Highschool, I did 6 Years of Music, Art and Art History in School but after I graduated Music was the only thing that stayed with me, I guess I lacked the Discipline to force myself to continue drawing when there was no one pushing me, which I will admit is all lazyness on my part.

Although seeing all the Pieces people do for CoX, and looking through peoples Deviant Art Pages is really Inspiring!

I'm often tempted to pick up a cheap Wacom Tablet and trying to get back into drawing.

I think if it was there, on the Computer, easily accessible at any time without having to scrounge around for Paper, pencils, paints or charcoals whenever the fancy struck me, I may actually get back into the flow of it all, because I really did enjoy Drawing and Painting, and If I started back up and got into the habbit, I may even be passable in another 5 or 6 years.

In fact, I think thats what I'm going to do for my birthday, pick up a Wacom Tablet and get back into Drawing!

It really was!

When I picked up the 2nd Pose, I didn't really pay much attention to the left arm, but when I saw the sponge in the pick and went back and looked at the reference images, its perfect, it actually looks like there should be something in her hand, for for a Naughty Nursey Picture, whats better than the promise of a sponge bath?

YAY! Someone who understands!

When I break down the hours I spend on a 3D piece versus the pay for the end result, I usually get less than minimum wage for my art. That tends to wear on me a bit... so it's great that you're sympathetic to the effort.

Truer words. I've often looked at some peoples art and the commissions they charge and I think no way is price meeting the amount of work put into it. I have several people that I commissioned that I know (to DJ's point) put so much time into the pieces that it is less than minimum wage. It's great when someone sees that.

Good Luck MortisNai!

Oooooooo... Jean Gray eat your heart out!

Thats really pretty and has a wonderful Classic Pin-Up quality to it!

I really love the face and the hair, the Hair is so wonderfully wind swept and looks as if its in motion! And the Face has a very serious quality to it which adds a very lovely contrast to the provocativeness pose and outfit, and there is something very dangerous about a syringe.

And I could not agree more, Nurses are very "kinda sexy" which is in all truth and honesty the only reason Nursey ever made it to 50... it was just very difficult to get tired of such a simple but deliciously sinful concept as "Sexy Nurse."

Thank you so much for using Nursey as a warm up, I'm always ecstatic when people draw inspiration from her! I'm really glad you had fun with it, and I think that really comes through in the Sketch! I'm sure you have more than a million and one muses of your own, but please feel free to warm up with Nursey any time should the desire take your fancy!

Wait... that sounded more than just a little naughty.
