Badge Forums FAQ - draft version 1.
Just thought of something to add: Illusionist badge, number to kill and what kinds. It tends to be a pretty commonly asked question.

What's the actual method to spawn Jack and Eochai?
You wait for the timer to spawn them. There's nothing you can do to force them to spawn.
Under rare badges
Where's the Arachnos Flyer?
Still bugged. If you see a Dev in-game, they may be able to spawn one for you (this is how a few people have the badge already), but it will not spawn on its normal timer.

Might also add in (I don't know if it's true or not) but the availability of the Flyer also happens after a server reset, but doesn't spawn again till another reset.
Something like that anyways. I've never really hunted for the Flyer or concerned myself with the bug issues with it.

Um... just so you know, you can forced them to spawn. I was not plying at that time, my brother was an I was watchiong him play. He got an invite in Croatoa on a team that was going to force-spawn Jack and Eochai. There were at least two full teams up in the Grim Vale clearing the area for the GMs. after clearing the area several times, they spawned. It couldn't have taken more then 30 minutes. That could have been a concidence, except I have been on a team that did the same time, and the GMs spawned.

1. So, we are supposed to take your word over a designer [ in this case EJ Nelson (aka Ravenstorm) ]? Sorry, Official Word trumps players almost every time. Given the amount of people that have tried since Issue 5, it would have been done by now.
2. People have been claiming this since Issue 5, to date no one has successfully done so.
3. The "clearing the Vale" you speak of only works in one case: if the war has started, you can speed it up. I repeat: that is the ONLY WAY.
4. There is a 25% chance every hour or two that the war will start.
5. Positron has also stated (seems randomly eaten by a purge) that Hero-side there is no way to spawn a Giant Monster.
6. Only one true Giant Monster *see note, below* in CoH can be forced to spawn. Babbage, and only as a part of the Synapse Task Force. The Babbage spawn in Boomtown cannot be forced. End of story.
*note: To those that will bring up the Kronos Titan, it is a giant monster in name only. It is a mission ambush, not a true GM. Think of the Kronos as a re-labelled AV.

If either these solutions were to be put into place, this persistant rumor would hopefully end.

You must have been clearing the Vale during the 1-2 hours they would randomly spawn.
To put it in poetic terms once used on a badge channel... I can make the sun set by doing the Jumping Jacks emote.

I've never heard of anyone actually catching the flyer at those times.
Considering how many people it takes to kill a Giant Monster, the time of day of the server resets, the fact that you'd need to have all those people signing on pretty much right when the server comes up (so doing nothing but watching server status for an hour or so), and the limited timeframe to kill it before it despawns, I'm not sure you'd ever get the badge that way even if the flier does spawn.

As I said, I don't know if it's true, but I believe I read it here or on badge-hunter, dunno for sure.
It is something to try and possibly keep in mind as an alternative to trying to get a Dev/GM-type person to spawn it.

It's sad that the slim chances of both the Dev/GM and the reboot options are still far more likely than seeing the bug fixed.
How about this as an answer to the Jack/Eochai issue without quoting all that text in the FAQ...
Individually, they both spawn like any other hero-side Giant Monster - they're on timers, and not affected by player actions.
The Jack and Eochai war is a scripted event that is generated by a timer. There is no way to force the war to begin.
The war itself consists of a number of waves of fighters. When each wave is completely destroyed, the next spawns, ultimately having the giant monsters in the last spawn. If the war has already begun you can speed things along to get to Jack and Eochai if you help clear the waves.
Sometimes the war script gets stuck if one minion avoids being killed. If you are killing things at random in Croatoa you may suddenly find you've kicked the war script back into action.

Yes it is, but it's symptomatic of a larger problem that I'm seeing recently. I'm not crying DOOoOOoOOoOOOooooOM or anything, but don't have much hope either.

And add a note as to which Giant Monsters can be forced to spawn, and which can't.

Ok, I see I was wrong. Although, it is a big coincidence that it happened two times.

Sorry about the tone, but it really is frustrating having to deal with that persistant rumor. It has been almost a year and a half since Issue 5, and it keeps coming back.
Actually this was why I did this FAQ in the first place: To provide accurate information to quell rumors.

* Firebase Zulu Security Detail badge is for spending under 10 minutes in the Shadow Shards, the zones not missions in CoV. This badge in not available in CoV.

Yes, the precise time is three minutes, but it can sometimes vary (can go as high as six minutes), so I feel secure in the knowledge that under 10 minutes is the correct wording.

I thought that badge was for 3 hours in the Shadow Shards.
Edit: Memo to self, NEVER trust the prima guide, it is wrong on so many things. I checked on CIT; CIT lists it for 3 minutes. Sorry for every doubting you Snow_Globe.(Although I stil think this time is a little low but oh well)

'Vee Badgers' is another somewhat used badge channel on Virtue (without the ' ').
