Beautiful stuff Doug.
Several months ago, when I felt like I wanted to give you a detailed critique on a Poser piece, I'd immediately go to the background, knowing that I'd find some issues there. Those days are LONG past!
Any insights you can share regarding painting fur? (I'm assuming all the fur was done in post, correct me if I'm wrong)
Wow, anouther great piece!
I'd have to say that, odly enough, my favorite part of it is her hair. I just love the look of your hair... in fact I think the best parts of any rendered piece that i've seen you do is the parts that you paint on in post.
Beautiful stuff... as always
Great pic! The pose is very...ROWR!
I Really like the fur. It musta been a lot of work.
Rowr has to be proud of this.
However the fur on the left leg kinda trew me for a moment. The I realised it was the white underbelly fur that continued down the leg.

Thanks, PMD. I know you're a tough critic and I take your observations very seriously. Everyones' feedback is valuable to me, and I have lessons learned from each piece improve the next one.
As for her fur... it's mostly texture. I spent 2 days creating a custom fur texture using a photograph of a tiger and the clone tool, with the emphasis of making sure there was no obvious tiling. Once the piece was rendered, I post-worked by adding in small fibres along her outline, thus removing the hard edge.
Here's a sample of the Body Texture;

Here's a peek at the piece before I post-worked it, focusing on just the knee. I labelled what changes I made;

And finally, the hair. I paint the hair last so I can shape it around the figure. I start with a single dark color. Then, I start choosing lighter and lighter colors with smaller and smaller brushes. Finally, I use a 2 or 3 pixel brush for the individual strands. Hair usually take about 30 minutes.

Very informative - I've dabbled in Poser and PS some, so I appreciate the info.
I can appreciate the piece even more knowing you made your own texture then did all the extra post work to make it look realistic and really pop.
Thumbs up!

Even with an explanation it's still hard to picture how you do that. I need my computer to start working again so I can practice.
DJ, her [censored] seems too pointy to me.
But all in all, another amazing work.

Niska: Are you Familiar with the works of Shan Yu?
Well this explains the baseball I found in my backyard, because Doug knocked it outta the park big time! Personally, I'm torn: I think something of a stalk/pounce action pose would be more fitting, but on the other hand (or paw) Rowr is practically the pin-up babe of CoH. So either/or, it's all good =D

That is some highly impressive work.... Although I'll agree that in real life (which this is close enough to to count) catgirls look more creepy than erotic.
I'm wondering about something however... where does the tail meet the body? It gives the impression of meeting right behind the navel, which seems an odd placement. On the other hand, sometimes with drawing you find things don't always look to be where they are. Does seem to be connected to the body at the lower back however.
Zeus - god of placement
Not to be too vulgar, but normally the tail attaches right above the butt crack.
Thats just awsome....I need to get one my character done one of the days....

Yes, normally it does connect at the base of the coxxyx vertibrae, (which are fused in a human, not sure about felines, I've never studied feline anatomy) which colloquially would be at the top of the butt crack, although personally I'd more describe it as in the middle of the pelvis.
However... in the picture it seems to connect at the base of the lumbar region of the spine, about a foot above that - almost directly behind the navel.
It could be just me. Maybe no one else sees it.
Zeus - god of being anatomically correct
The tail *does* connect to the base of the spine (right above the butt-crack). I think it just looks high since you can't see her backside.
Bah!
I want to see this piece but the website isn't working for me. *shakes fist a the man*
